STEPS IN WRITING THE RESULTS AND DISCUSSION CHAPTER

1. Write an introductory paragraph for the Results and Discussion chapter.

2. Present the demographic. For qualitative, you may do it narratively. For quantitative

survey, you may present using graphs and charts. No need for experimental.

3. Write the research question or the research objective.

4. Set the context.

5. Present the summary of data for that particular research question using a table, graph or

chart. Make sure to follow the APA 7th Edition format.

6. Make a brief description of the data presented.

7. Provide an interpretation and explanation of the results. For qualitative, provide a

discussion per theme. You may use the quotations/utterances of the participants for the

discussion. For quantitative survey and experimental, provide a discussion per research

question.

8. Do cross-referencing. Look for at least two (2) validating results and at least two (2)

contradicting results from relevant studies. BUT MORE IS BETTER. You may use the

literature presented in your RRL.

9. Address limitations/gaps.

Notes: Make use of appropriate and effective cohesive devices upon writing.
