CASE 1
An 8-year-old girl with respiratory symptoms comes to the emergency department.
Her mother tells the physician that her daughter suffered from clumsy walk than usual
(inability to walk well) over the past 3 days. On physical examination, an engorged
tick is found on the child’s neck. Her temperature is 37ºC and her complete blood
count levels are normal.

A 9 year old girl complained from severe itching of the
head. The mother reported seeing like white dots
attached to her hair. Examination demonstrated the

CASE 3
A 65-year-old man from rural Canada presented with
pruritus on his pubic area; he mentioned that even with
frequent bathing the symptoms persisted. Possible
arthropod ectoparasites were observed on his pubic
hair (below figure) and a specimen was collected and
sent to the Parasitology lab for examination. The object
measured 1.5 mm in length.

CASE 5
A patient presented to a local hospital with encrusted
lesions on his arms and legs. A skin scraping was made
and examined unstained at 40x magnification, below
figure shows what was observed by the attending
