When you change the operating mode from IRF to standalone, the command configuration is lost, regardless of whether you have saved the configuration. To join an IRF fabric, on MPU must use the same software images as the global active MPU in the IRF fobric. ‘When you odd an MPU to the IRF fabric, software auto-update compares the startup software images of the MPU with the current software images of the IRF global active MPU. Ifthe two sets of images are different, he MPU performs the following tasks cutomaticaly: 1. Downloads the current software images of the global active MPU. 2. Sets the downloaded images as the main startup software images. 3. Reboots with the new software images to rejoin the IRF fabric. If software auto-update is discbled, you must monvally update the MPU with the software images of the globol active MPU before adding the MPU to the IRF fabric. Before you use the sofware auto-update function, verify the following iteme: © The MPU you are adding to the IRF fabric is compatible with the software version running on the global acive MPU. Ifthe software versions are incompatible, the software auto-update function cannot work + The storage space of the MPU you are adding tothe IRF fabric is suficent for saving the new software images. Ifthe MPU does not have enough storage space, it deletes the current software images automatically IF the reclaimed space is sil insufficient, the MPU cannot complete the auto-ypdlate. You must reboct the device that holds the MPU and access the BootWare menus to delete files. To ensure a successtul software auto-ypdate in « multiuser environment, prevent the action of rebocting ‘or swapping member devices or MPUs during the auto-update process. You can configure the information center to output the software autoupdate status to configuration terminals (see Network ‘Management and Monitoring Configuration Guide) Examples # Enoble the software auto-update function systen-view [sysname] if ac irf domain Use irf domain to assign a domain ID to an IRF fabric. When you change the operating mode from IRF to standalone, the IRF domain setting is los, regardless of whether you have saved the configuration, One IRF fabric forms one IRF domain. IRF uses IRF domain IDs to uniquely identify IRF fabrics and prevent IRF febrie from interfering with one ancther. If one IRF falbric uses another IRF fabric as the intermediate device for LACP MAD, you must assign the wo IRF fabrics different domain IDs for correct split detection. False detection causes IRF split ‘An IRF fabric has enly one IRF domain ID. Ifthe interval is cet to 0, link down events are reported without ony delay. Usage guidelines This command is available in IRF mode. When you change the operating mode from IRF to standalone, the command configuration is lest, regardless of whether you have saved the configuration. Link flapping causes frequent IRF splits ond merges during © shor time. You can evoid this situation by configuring the IRF ports to delay reporting ink down events ‘An IRF port handles link down and link up events as follows: ‘© When the IRF link changes from up to down, the port does not immediately report the change to the IRF fobric. Ifthe IRF link stete is sill down when the deley time is reached, the port reports the change to the IRF fabric. © When the IRF link changes from down to up, the link layer immediately reports the event to the IRF fobric. HP recommends seting the delay to 0 seconds in one of the following situations: ‘©The IRF fobric requires o quick master/subordinate or IRF link switchover. +The BFD or GR feature is used. Ifthe device does net rejoin the IRF fabric within the time limit, the IRF fabric uses the bridge MAC address of the new master as the IRF bridge MAC address. IRF bridge MAC persistence specifies the amount of fime an IRF fabric con continue using the old master bridge MAC address as its bridge MAC address after a master re-election. Bridge MAC persistence is aveilable in IRF mede. When you change the operating mode from IRF to standalone, the bridge MAC persistence setting is lost, regardless of whether you have saved the configuration By defaul, on IRF fabric uses the bridge MAC address of the master device os its bridge MAC address. layer 2 protocels, such as LACE, use this bridge MAC address to identify the IRF fabric. On a switched LAN, the bridge MAC address must be unique. To avoid duplicate bridge MAC addresses, an IRF fabric can change its bridge MAC address ‘ovtomatically after its master leaves. However, the change causes temporary service disruption Depending on your network condition, you can enable the IRF fabric to preserve or change its bridge MAC address after the master leaves. IF VRRP load balancing is used, execute the irf mac-address persistent always command to prevent the IRF bridge MAC address from changing. This MAD mechanism requires «an intermediate HP device that supports extended LACFDUs, LACP MAD handles collisions differently than BFD MAD. To aveid conflicts, do not use LACP MAD together with BFD MAD. You must set up @ dynamic link aggregation group thet spans all IRF member devices between the IRF fabric andthe intermediate device. To enable dynamic link aggregation, configure the link-aggregation mode dynamic command on the aggregate interface If one IRF fabric uses another IRF fabric as the intermediate device for LACP MAD, you must assign the two IRF fabrics different domain IDs for correct split detection.
