Seattle

Seattle is the largest city in the Pacific Northeast region of the United States , located
in Washington state between the Puget Sound and Lake Washington , about 180 km south
of the United States- Canada border .
Seattle was founded in the 1850s and takes its name from Seattle , a Native
American tribal leader. The city has an estimated population of 582,174 and a metropolitan
area population of nearly 3,919,624 million ( 2006 ).
Seattle is often known as "The City of Rain", though its official nickname is "The City
of Emeralds". Seattle also has a reputation for high coffee consumption. The
Starbucks coffee shop chain originated here. In addition, other large companies, such
as Microsoft , Nordstrom , and the Boeing aircraft company are also headquartered in
Greater Seattle.
In the world of music, namely in the early 1990s , Seattle was known as the center
of grunge music , otherwise known as the Seattle Sound .
In 1999 , Seattle hosted the WTO meeting . At that time, the city was closed by anti-
globalization demonstrators.
The city's most famous icon is the Space Needle tower which was erected
in 1962 .Visitors may conjure the image of the Seattle Space Needle when envisioning a trip
to Seattle. And this 605-foot spire is well worth the visit, especially the surrounding Seattle
Center, home to other attractions like Chihuly Garden and Glass and Climate Pledge Arena.
