THE IMPORTANCE OF ORAL COMMUNICATION AS AN ENGLISH LANGUAGE

STUDENT AND TO SOCIETY

Oral communication is the cornerstone of human interaction, enabling individuals to express

ideas, share knowledge, and build relationships. As an English language student, oral
communication plays a vital role in our language acquisition and overall development.
Furthermore, the significance of oral communication extends beyond the confines of academia,
permeating various aspects of society. Oral communication serves as a crucial tool for us English
language students to enhance our language acquisition and achieve fluency. Engaging in
conversations, discussions, and presentations in English allows us students to apply our
theoretical knowledge in practical situations, facilitating a deeper understanding of the language.
Through regular oral practice, we can improve our pronunciation, intonation, vocabulary, and
grammar, enabling us to communicate effectively in real-life scenarios.

As an English Language student oral communication fosters coherence and provides us with
opportunities to engage in cultural exchange, fostering an appreciation for diversity and
promoting intercultural understanding. By interacting with native speakers or individuals from
different linguistic backgrounds, we can gain insights into diverse perspectives, traditions, and
customs. This exchange cultivates empathy, broadens horizons, and dismantles cultural barriers,
enabling individuals to develop a global mindset and become effective intercultural
communicators. Through effective oral communication, misunderstandings can be clarified, trust
can be established, and peaceful resolutions can be reached. The ability to communicate orally
facilitates empathy, collaboration, and cooperation, contributing to harmonious and productive
interactions. As an English Language student oral communication help me to boost my
confidence specially in public speaking.
Oral communication is of paramount importance to us English language students and society at
large. It enhances language acquisition, fosters cultural exchange and promotes professional
advancement. As an English language students who develop strong oral communication skills
are better prepared to navigate diverse linguistic and cultural contexts, while society benefits
from individuals who can express us effectively, understand different perspectives, and
contribute constructively to social, professional, and political spheres. Therefore, prioritizing the
development of oral communication skills is crucial for English language students and essential
for building a vibrant and interconnected society.

Oral communication is the exchange of information and ideas through spoken word. It
can be directly in person in a face-to-face interaction or through an electronic device such as a
phone, video platform or radio. The most effective way for businesses to transmit information
verbally is through oral communication, such as staff meeting, webinar, and workshop (WiX
Blog). Oral communication is the best type of communication if you wanted to really express
yourself as there won’t be a need for you to pay attention with the spellings as you will be
delivering your speech orally. Also, oral communication saves your time, generates feedback
faster, and offers visual cues, such as expressions and gestures.

As an English language student, oral communication has played a vital role in my

learning experience. As we all know, the goal of learning a language is to communicate. Hence,
oral communication skills are fundamental to the development of literacy and essential for
thinking and learning. It is glue that puts all the components of language together. Through
practice of oral communication, I could not only communicate information but I could also
explore and come to understand ideas and concepts; identify and solve problems; organize my
experience and knowledge; express and clarify my thoughts, feelings, and opinions. Oral
communication is very important to me as it is a great way for me to enhance my communication
skills using the English language and it also help boost my confidence in public speaking. And
this skill would be a great help for me in my future endeavors. And as to society, it is important
as it allows the people to express their emotions, feelings, and thoughts. Oral communication not
only helps to facilitate the process of sharing information and knowledge with others, but it also
helps people to develop relationship with others. Having the oral communication skills would
make the society a better place as people within the society has the ability to speak up their
opinions about what is happening around them.

The ability of being able to communicate would bring us to a greater place. Therefore,
being an oral communicator is really important. Also, being an oral communicator would give us
an advantage in every way.
