Executive Summary

Personality is an individual’s feelings, and behaviors that stay constant over time and across

contexts; it determines how a person might react to different situations. (Robin S. S. Kramer,

2022). Similarly in case of work places personality plays a part especially for entrepreneurs.

And the indigo assessment may help people utilize to better understand themselves and those

they engage with, and then use this understanding to lessen disagreement and strengthen

working relationships (Fallon, 2023). In this assessment the author tried to cover the parts of

entrepreneurs and what the personality of the author shows in the indigo assessment along

that the strength and weaknesses and way to overcome those has been covered as well.
Introduction

An entrepreneur is someone who creates a business based on an idea. They run the company

and bear the risk of success or failure. Examining the generally shared features can assist in

clarifying the way entrepreneurs’ purpose (Duermyer, 2022). The factors necessary for being

a successful entrepreneur is described below-

Key Characteristics of Entrepreneur

When it’s come to classify the character and unique behaviours of the entrepreneurs, it is

become difficult to scale and summarised the success factors within a framework as the

behaviour and personal characteristic of the entrepreneurs vary per to person. Successful

business owners universally credit attributes like drive, determination, and perseverance for

their achievements. (Levine, 2022). An entrepreneur may not have a type-A personality or be

an extrovert working on projects, but he or she can be their own boss. All successful

entrepreneurs share a few distinctive characteristics that set them apart from their peers.

(SURI, 2022). To fully take advantage of chances, one must be willing and able to overcome

obstacles. The road to success is paved with those who aren't frightened of difficulty and who

aren't afraid to take calculated risks (Miller, 2020). However different empirical studies have

significantly addressed the following characteristics that are mostly common among the

entrepreneurs.

Curiosity: The Harvard Business Review identified curiosity distinguishes successful

entrepreneurs from other organizational leaders (Rahman, 2013). Curiosity helps

entrepreneurs find new prospects. Curiosity is a sign of general intelligence and is associated

with improved analytical and problem-solving abilities (Frost, 2015). Entrepreneurs

challenge themselves and try new things (Miller, 2020). This unique character allows

entrepreneurs to take risks and explore the opportunity from impossible situations.
Accepts Failure: Entrepreneurship needs risk management, measured judgments, and failure

acceptance. 75% of startups fail. Failure can be caused by a bad company plan, lack of focus,

or motivation (Miller, 2020). Some of these risks are unavoidable. Successful entrepreneurs

must expect and accept failure. They use success to overcome fear. Building essential

character attributes for entrepreneurship success requires failure. One will succeed if they

have the perseverance to keep going while others give up. (DUNN, august 3, 2016)

Decisiveness: Entrepreneurs must make tough choices and stick to them. Leaders manage

their company's funding, strategy, and resources (Dodgson & Gann, 2018). Making quick

decision is a basic characteristic of an entrepreneur. It helps them to hold on to the window of

opportunity whenever or wherever. (Miller, 2020) Decisions aren't always right.

Entrepreneurship requires the courage to take risks and see them through.

Innovation: Entrepreneurship and invention are often linked. Often true. Entrepreneurship

begins with innovation, which implies the generation of fresh and significant ideas.

(F.Dieffenbacher, 2023) Successful businesses have dramatically upgraded current products

or services to fulfill market needs. Some entrepreneurs innovate. It can be learned (Prossack,

2021). Strategic thinking helps you identify new opportunities and position your business for

success.

Strong Belief System: Studies have found entrepreneurs have strong beliefs on their

innovations and goals moreover they are extremely confident in the solution they are creating

(Frost, 2015). Those who start businesses with a social mission are typically driven by a deep

interest in the field or the cause itself. They know and believe that changing the world starts

with yourself. Their confidence in themselves is unwavering. (Wijngaardena, 2021) And as

they begin to put together the experts and team members who will make the venture a reality,
they take care to articulate a compelling vision that will inspire and motivate others around

them (Elsey, 2017).

Networking and relationship building: Entrepreneurs must be good at networking and

creating relationships. The capacity to develop and maintain a large network of acquaintances

and professional connections is referred to as networking. Relationship building is the ability

to establish and sustain significant connections with others. Successful entrepreneurs

realize the importance of building powerful connections with those who matter and are able

to build confidence and rapport with others. (Smith, 2023)

My Strengths and how it makes me a better Entrepreneur

The Indigo Assessment has identified 5 areas of strengths and unique skills sets that will

sharpen my journey as entrepreneur. The strengths are as follows:

Goal Oriented and Seeks the challenge and opportunity to win: Various studies

has found that, the entrepreneurs are highly goal oriented, and they take challenges to pursue

the opportunities (Miller, 2020), when it’s come to my personal characteristics, I have been

identified as highly goal-oriented challenge seeker by my supervisor, friends, and teachers.

For instance, since my bachelor's degree, I've wanted to influence society. I started to take

preparations to get into the United Nations, however the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020

presented tremendous obstacles, I never wavered in my commitment to achieving my goals.

Despite all the odds against me, I kept working toward my goal with undying commitment

and persistence. When I was only 23 years old and had just finished my undergraduate

degree, I made history as the first Bangladeshi to be appointed to the position as a Human

Recourse and management Analyst at the executive office to the Secretary-General at the

United Nations Secretariat Headquarters.

Conflict Management & A strong influencer: Business leaders and entrepreneurs

spend a significant amount of time in their journey to manage the conflict that arise from

change that may includes the internal and external factors, also to direct and motivate the

people to join the adventure that an entrepreneur is leading (sheri, 2021). I personally identify

myself as a good advocate to manage conflict by influencing the people. For example: I

started to at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) as Customer Service Lead, due to my

skill sets on conflict management and clear communication style, the management promoted

me as Emergency Response and Conflict Management Supervisor. Understanding others’

opinions and viewpoints and making smooth communications helps to influence people in the

preferred directions.

Strong Determination: As mentioned above the entrepreneurs are very determined

about their goals and dreams (Miller, 2020). It was the year 2020, I joined the UNCDF Dhaka

office as national monitoring, evaluation, and Knowledge management focal point to look

after 12 FinTech innovations in Bangladesh. During this assignment, despite my career's early

age, I completed my job with massive success while Bangladesh was in the middle of the

COVID-19 pandemic, and we all were having a challenging time. The key reasons behind

these successes were. I gave my best effort and worked more than 110 hours a week despite

being COVID-positive.

How this help to become better entrepreneur:

My strengths help me to be a better entrepreneur by attempting to balance the functionality

and harmony of work determining and setting a goal for a particular day and finishing it.

Strong influence and conflict management helps me to be able to handle difficult situation in

workspace or even in a new environment, it is a lot easier to adjust with the new people

which should be a prime quality of entrepreneur which I possess.

weaknesses and areas of improvement

According to the report, my top two weaknesses and areas of improvement (action

Points) are:

Have difficulty establishing priorities: I often found myself in stress to manage my

priorities, specially when I started to focus on so many things at a time. In recent time: I

enrolled me with two other online courses 1) ESG Reporting and 2) Data Analysis, in

addition to my MBA programme courses. These huge study pressure resulting more mental

pressure and hampering the quality of learning. In the first place the I field to prioritise my

goals.

Road to Improve the Weakness:

Self-Awareness-Different empirical suggest that being self-aware about an issue can

significantly improve the chances of not to do the same mistake again and again. Perceived

control over a trait's existence shows the notion that the attribute is modifiable or unchanging.

The main focus should mostly be on component of perceived control. (Ben Gervey, 2003, p.

409)

Courses on Priority Management- LinkedIn and other online platforms like Coursera, offer

many well-equipped online courses, these courses will help me to understand different tools

and concepts to manage and identify the priority tasks. Having a pre-set mind will make it

easy to prioritize the task that needs to be completed first then second and so on which will

eventually help to prioritize the task serially.

Become resistive and indecisive when forced to act quickly: When I am forced to

take any decision promptly without prior knowledge; most of the time, I turn out wrong.

Usually, I save my time to make an effective decision do my background research work.

These things happen with me a lot when I purchase any products or choose food mane in a

restaurant without prior research and knowledge.

Road to Improve the Weakness:

Self-Awareness-Being self-aware about the consequences of the weakness, will help me to

control over situations, where I need to make decisions promptly. Practicing the self-

awareness will help to make the right decision as it will be clear which will be right thing to

do. Knowing oneself is one of the components of being an entrepreneur which takes the

career ahead so this characteristic should be incorporated.

Reading Articles: Reading articles on these issues will help me to gain and learn tactics and

techniques to make efficient decisions quickly. It has always been said that knowledge is

power so if one need any kind of help books or articles or any type of information portals can

help in making things easy to decide on any kind of impromptu situations.

After analysing the weaknesses, I can say that my weaknesses can be minimized and used as

a strength in the near future if the suggested pathway is followed.
