OnTESOL to offer quality training based on the syllabus
that Coventry delivered for their accredited in-class Trinity
CertTESOL and TESL Canada Standard 1 course.
The online TESOL / TEFL certification courses offered by

Self Paced: We don’t count the time you take to study each module and
there aren’t any limits on each module (The only time limit is the course

1 Are There Any Differences Between TESOL, TEFL, and TESL Methods?
In essence, the methodology of TEFL, TESOL, and TESL is the same. Whether you want to
teach English abroad or to teach in an English immersion program in North America, the
Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) method prevails all over the world. In fact, the
CLT method can be used to teach any language! There are different approaches that
branch off CLT. The main ones are the Communicative Approach and Task-based
Learning, which are used in about 90% of English classes around the world.

4 What is an Advanced TESOL Course?
The minimum requirement for most jobs abroad is a 120-hour TESOL / TEFL / TESL
certificate, but not every course is built the same way.
Most online courses are introductory because they assess students via quick reflection
essays. Some courses cover lesson planning, but their participants will often have to
complete just one final assignment to receive the certificate. Furthermore, most
introductory courses lack grammar and phonology modules.
An advanced TESOL/TEFL course offers comprehensive training in every area of

TESOL/TEFL theory and methodology: grammar, phonology, and methodology. In

After completing your advanced TESOL/TEFLcourse with OnTESOL, you will be able
to create fun and effective lesson plans using authentic materials, integrated
skills activities, role-playing, simulations, drama, storytelling, debating techniques,
presentations, and many more CLT strategies and techniques.
Our advanced TESOL/TEFL courses also include a comprehensive grammar and

phonology module that will test your knowledge and serve you as a reference
throughout your teaching career.
6 How Does OnTESOL Compare with CELTA?

CELTA is an entry-level 120-hour TESL / TEFL / TESOL certification course that
includes a Practicum module. OnTESOL offers advanced online TESOL / TEFL courses
with an optional Practicum module that is offered separately.
Our 120-hour Advanced TESOL Certificate is academically equivalent to CELTA. This

course includes 3 lab assignments that go over PPP, ESA, and TBL lesson planning
formats so you can learn to teach English to different levels using CLT framework that
works best.
Our 168-hour Hybrid TEFL Certificate course is more comprehensive than CELTA
because it includes the 120-hour course, the 10-hour Lesson Planning Workshop and
3 specialists to prepare you for TEYL and online ESL teaching positions worldwide.
Our 250-hour TESOL Diploma includes a total of 7 lab assignments which provide
trainees with a more comprehensive understanding and set of skills to prepare them
for positions where they will be more involved in curriculum adaptation and
development.
7 What Does the Course Fee Cover?

The fee includes reading material, videos, tutor support, the first copy of your TEFL /
TESOL certificate and transcript sent internationally, and taxes. The only extra cost is
the Practicum and accreditation fees payable to TESL Canada (CDN$120) and TESL
Ontario (CDN$120) to process your documentation (Accreditation fees are subject to
change).

8 How Do I Complete the Course?

You can access the first module after your course is activated. The course material and
your tutor will guide you through each assignment and you will submit your work via
the student portal for marking. Modules will be opened as you progress through the
course.
The Course Activation e-mail will provide you with the name of your online tutor, who
will contact you within 24 hours and will introduce themselves as well as the course
material, expectations, assignments, final tests, the marking system and all information
pertaining the course.
If you have any queries and questions on the course material, have trouble with an
assignment or quiz or just want some kind of help, you can always contact your tutor
through your student account from Monday to Friday.
9 How Will I Be Assessed?

Your work will be assessed throughout the course. There are assignments you will
complete and submit to your tutor for marking and feedback. Depending on the
course you have enrolled in, assignments include: writing reflective essays, writing
essays showing understanding of specific methodology topics, demonstrating what
techniques you would use to teach a particular topic or skill, writing detailed lesson
plans, and final grammar and phonology exams. All the lesson plan assignments will
be graded by your tutor. There are also tasks, which need to be submitted to your
tutor to receive feedback, but will not be marked.
10 Does the TESOL/TEFL Certificate Expire?

No, the TESOL/TEFL certificate issued by Coventry House International-OnTESOL
does not expire.
11 Is there a Deadline to Complete TESL Canada Certification Requirements?

No, there isn’t a deadline to meet TESL Canada’s requirements such as Practicum or
proficiency score and request their certificate.
12 Will I Receive a Reference Letter?

Those who pass the course with an average of 80% may request a reference letter
signed by the Director of Studies to accompany the TESOL/TEFL certificate and
transcript.
13 Does Job Support Expire?
You can use our job assistance services for life. The only restrictions are age
and certain nationality requirements set by immigration laws.
