The art and carvings of sandal wood have a lot of demand in the international market. Fragrant sandal wood is inevitable in the preparation of incense sticks. So the demand for sandal wood has been rising Til recently sandal trees growing anywhere in Private premises, Government or non= Government places, Organizations, Prayer halls, muths, etc, were considered fo be Government property. The landlords of these places where sandal trees grew were paid in the form of bonus and there were several restrictions to dispose off the sandal trees that grew in private lands. Owing to this, farmers and the owners of private lands were not showing interest in growing sandal wood, The State Government has taken up several measures to encourage farmers to grow itn huge quantities.
