WAITING ON GOD

Text: Isaiah 40:28–31

Like in a debate, you have to define the key terms in a topic before going further to aid the
understanding of your audience. This is also practiced by men of God. So, before I continue let
me define WAITING

To wait means to delay movement or action. To wait on means to provide a service

to(someone), to act as a servant to (someone); to serve someone.

Who is GOD?
As Christians, we know this already that God is a triune being–God the Father, God the Son and
God the Holy Spirit, co-equal and co-eternal. He is the creator, the Uncreated Creator–Jesus
Christ, our Comforter–Holy Spirit.

So what exactly does it mean to WAIT ON GOD

Waiting on God means to act as a servant to God. And what implies that we're seravnts of God
is when we set out time to ultimately study the Word of God and to Pray.
Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the
Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his
understanding.

He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.

Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion.

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:28-31 NLT

And then He gives power to the weak. Power is not for people who claim that they're strong.
Power is for the people who are humble enough to admit that they're weak.

The Bible also says that He gives strength to the powerless. Now, even the youths will become
weak and tired and young men will fall in exhaustion.

BUT.....the good news.....they that WAIT ON THE LORD, other version says TRUST.
So waiting is trusting. Those who wait on the LORD will renew their strength.
They will run and not be weary like normal youths do, they will walk and not faint. Hmmm....so
waiting on God takes you beyond the realm of a youth. It takes you beyond the realm of
NATURAL

WHAT DOES IT IMPLY WHEN YOU WAIT ON GOD?

Waiting on God implies the following;

1. Submission
Romans 10:3 summarizes submission to God. When you wait on God, you're acknowledging
that you're ever dependent on God and that you can't establish the business of the day without
Him.
If you go to God claiming that you have 9, He'll only give you 1. But when you go submitting
and ever dependent with 1, He'll give you 9....do we get?

2. Trust in God
Proverbs 3:5–6

Waiting on God also implies that you trust God with all your heart.
Because you see.. we were made to rely and ti depend on God...so there is no way we can
function without God. In other words only the proud, those who believe they know it all don't wait
on God because waiting shows humility

3. Lordship and Sonship

Looking at out world today, when someone says "wait on me, I'm coming", you wait for the
person because whatever it is you want to do with the person is very important. You can decide
not to wait, what does that mean? Such a person is not important and whatever business you're
doing with the person is not also important. So when you wait on God, it simply means you see
Him as your LORD and His influence is very important

WHY DO WE NEED TO WAIT ON GOD

1. To show our utmost desire and love for Him
2. To receive instructions Exodus 19:3–Moses went to stay with God on the mountain, WAITING
3. To receive strength
4. To walk well in this race

HOW TO WAIT ON GOD.

1. Studying the word....Remember Studying puts you in the position of humility and
submission....so you wait on God by studying the WORD.
Take note....they that wait shall receive strength right? So the WORD strengthens you in times
of persecution.
2. Fasting...the effect of this can never be over emphasized....and let it be accompanied with
study of the WORD
3. Praying.....this is as well very important. In Luke 18:1 Jesus Christ spoke a parable to the
end that men ought always to pray and not to faint.

4. Worship...ooh my, worshipping God is a very glorious experience.

Finally....a Christian that does not wait on God will be a defeated one. In our Kingdom, the
fastest way to run is to Wait.......don't go about making decisions on your own without
WAITING.....waiting on God is where our strength lies ooo

There ways God speaks

1. He can speak through the word of God.

You can pray on a particular thing and as you begin to study the word, The Holy Spirit will lead
you to a scripture that will give answer to your question

2. God can speak to you through dreams especially when you k more at night time

3. He can speak through people too

5. The Peace of God in your heart on a matter is also God's voice

There are other ways like Wisdom, visions/trance , Inner witness

You must know how God speaks to you

The more you spend time with God the more you know how he speaks to you.

But primarily He will speak through His word, dreams and inner witness/voice
