Persuasive writing is convincing the reader to agree with the author and to accept a
particular point of view. It shows not only why the writer’s opinion is correct, but also why the
opposing view is incorrect, by presenting logical examples and facts.
To write a persuasive essay you need a well-organized, five-paragraph composition with the
following structure:
Introduction
This needs to be your strongest paragraph where you will present your argument and include
your theory and proof. It’s the paragraph that is going to grab the reader’s attention.
Body
The body of the text must comprise three paragraphs.
Two paragraphs should focus on one piece of evidence with sufficient supporting details to
persuade the reader that your position is the best one possible.
One paragraph has to have an opposing view where you will refute the key points from your personal
experience.
Conclusion
This paragraph should summarize the most important evidence and encourage the reader to
adopt your position or take action. End the conclusion with a plea, a prediction, a question or a
recommendation.
