Remember to: * use evidence from the case study to support your points * refer to key theoretical concepts covered in this course Ashley’s Secondary School Experience Ashley is an 11-year-old girl from Georgetown. After doing well on the Common Entrance Examination, she was admitted to Meticulous High, a prestigious secondary school. Her mother ‘was extremely proud; she had high expectations for her only child. As time passed, Ashley became more aware of the rapid changes in her appearance. She grappled with understanding what was happening to her. During the first day of school, Ashley met Samantha. They became close friends. The first thing Ashley noticed about Samantha was her hair. It was different from Ashley’s, whose hair was natural. Ashley became unhappy with her natural hair and developed a sudden urge to straighten it. She asked her mother for assistance. Her mother refused to help her. Instead, she reminded Ashley that she is beautiful as she is. Ashley got extremely upset. She decided to seek help from Samantha who willingly agreed to assist. On seeing Ashley's new hairstyle, her mother was furious. What made things even worse is that Ashley skipped her classes to get it done. Please go on to the next page © 6|Page
