Semester 1 exam tips AS Level for 11C

To prepare effectively for the semester 1 exam, you should make sure you study up on the
following information. This is critical in showing that you understand the expectation as well
as the material.

Go to the website that I made and watch the videos that I have posted there. They contain
very helpful information on how to write a directed response as well as tips on how to write
an effective commentary. Since you will be doing both things in your semester exam, if you
watch these videos, they will help you figure out how do this type of writing.

Directed response tips: You must read a text (550-750 words) and then write a piece (150-
200 words) in a different genre using information from the given text. Do not go over 200
words.

Comparative Commentary: You need to compare your own writing with the original. Focus
on Form, Structure, Language.

Do not forget SPLLITS. You can look in the digital exam prep book on page 5.
Also, look at page 6 as it summarizes what you are being asked to do.
