Geo Thermal Energy
(For Industrial Purpose)

The word geothermal comes from the Greek words

Geo (earth) and therme (heat).
It is geothermal energy that is
responsible for volcanoes,
earthquakes, geysers, hot
springs and mud-pots and are
derived from hot water and
steam formed in porous or
fractured rock at relatively
moderate depths from 100
meters to five kilometers. High
geothermal activity occurs where
the Earth’s crust is thin and
molten rock and steam at high
pressure are able to force their
way to the surface.
Hot grounds below the earth
contain huge amount of energy.
Generally at broad level, It is used for energy production
First of all it is necessary to make a survey of hot
underground areas.
Cooper Basin contains the
hottest grounds on earth
at reasonable drilling depths
Drilling in the earth is
made about three to five
kilometers deep in the
earth like the oil drilling
and cold water is
pumped into the hot
areas of underground
earth.
Cold water is injected into the ground at the depth
of 3000 meters to 4000 meters by pipe.
This water is stored at this level forms the shape of
geothermal reservoir.
At the depth of about 4.5 kilometers beneath the earth
water attain the temperature of 300 C due to hot rocks.
This naturally hot water is pressurized towards the surface
with the help of pipes towards the heat exchanger.
With the help of this heat exchanger steam is produces which
is used to move the turbines and turbine move the generator
where electricity is produced and cold water is sent back into
the earth again.
