The target market has been analysed and consists of thrill seekers and book lovers. Due to the available mystery puzzles
enacting similarly to an escape room, thrill seekers will enjoy this interactive journey and may start to find an interest in
reading. The general age target is 9+. Many books enriched with childlike topics will be provided to engage children with
reading from an early age. The location of the store targets people from the city and the far end of Western Sydney as it
isn't too distant for either to visit.
3.2 The Marketing Mix

Product
The store provides endless number of books available online to order. The customisation to books is not limited to
previously owned novels. An aged and used book has the opportunity to become revitalised, retaining the same
annotations and notes the owner has made. The book covers will not be sleeved, rather they will be attached to the book
itself. A special design is able to be allocated for each book. Limited edition books will also be available after the popularity
rate of the store increases.

Pricing
The pricing methods have been obtained by assessing how much profit the business must make. Membership will ensure
the members loyalty while receiving many benefits including reduced prices and a DIY station. The price of custom items
varies depending on the materials and equipment used. Limited edition books depend on the worth of their price as a
mission of the business is to provide cheap reading materials in great quality with a cover that will optimise the readers
imagination and dedication. The payment methods available consist of:
 Eftpos
 Cash

ensuring the visibility of the location.

Promotion
Promotive methods that will be incorporated to target the audience will include the use of social media including creating
business accounts on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. This will increase the store visibility and the social networking.
Introducing an interesting logo placed on a large banner will attract customers. A front floor design will increase customer
loyalty and maintain a high star rating. Offering regular sales and cheap prices while maintaining good quality products will
ensure customer loyalty and increase in sales.
Limited edition books including author signed novels, antique books and specialised book covers will encourage the
customers to regularly visit the store and keep tabs on the books that arrive in store. Regular ‘on sale’ specials will earn a
competitive advantage against the other bookstores. An in-store membership includes starting a book club of the
members choice and a general decrease in items store wide. All book club meetings will be supervised to promote a safe
and regulated environment.
3.3 External Influences

External influences are factors which affect the business function and performance which are outside the business control.
These include:
Competitive advantage: The competitive situation of the business is few with not many bookstores in the surrounding the
suburb. The stores which sell books include QBD, Dymocks, Kmart, and Big W. the business addresses this issue by offering
regular books sold at all stores at a lower price, attracting more customers to the alternative store.
Technological influence: The advances of technology has driven readers away from bookstores as it has increased the
opportunity of illegally obtaining their reading material, negatively impacting the business as readers do not require to buy
their own copy of the book. The store entails reading rooms, events, and mystery book dates to counter this negative
influence. Technology has also achieved the opportunity of increasing publicity through social media and online networks.
A web page is also designed to save time for customers when ordering their customised design.
Institutional influences: These are factors which impact the business based on societies values and expectations. The
conflicting values of society which is determined by two main sources, religion, and the political position, restrict any
debate-based book clubs. This may decrease the sales for those who wish to engage in intense non-fictious debates
however it maintains a safe and healthy relationship between all customers.
Legal Influence: The legal influences shape how a business must operate, restricting it from operating at certain times
such as public holidays. This causes a decrease in sales, reducing the profit earned by the business.
Economic Influence: The minimum wage of an adult has risen to $23.23 in the past year. This economic influence has
impacted the profit for the business as the owners must increase their expenses. This increase of wage has been a factor
of rising inflation. It has caused a high rate of unemployment due to the financial situation of businesses.

3.4 Internal Influences

Product
Location
Management

Internal influences are factors which affect the business performance which the business has a degree of control over.
These include:
Management: The Business management involves a bureaucratic approach, allowing ideas from all employees to come
forward. This approach in the business will allow the customers to be comfortable within the store as they will not notice
any hierarchal stages.
