1 Standard Room
1988. Though its colonial center is preserved, Lima is also a bustling metropolis
and is one of South America’s largest cities. The city is home to the Museo Larco

DAY 3 ITINERARY
FRI
25 Aug
25 This afternoon, you will be met by your friendly local guide @ 12:00 to head out
into the city for a tour of Huaca Pucllana.
Aug 2023
Half Day Huaca Pucllana Tour
First, enjoy lunch (included) at one of the most incredible restaurant settings
anywhere in the world, nestled within the compound of a 1,500-year-old adobe
pyramid, as you peer out at the pre-Columbian structure as you eat. The updated
criolla dishes like humitas verdes (tamales) and lomo saltado (stir-fried beef and
potatoes) won't disappoint.
Then, you will tour the grounds of Huaca Pucllana, a vast network of open plazas
and beguiling ancient stone masonry that forms a multilayered, towering pyramid,
sitting proudly among the now-urbanised district of Miraflores. Once the religious
and administrative center for the coastal people of the Lima Culture (prevalent in
the region from 150 to 700 A.D.), the huaca later evolved into a vast cemetery for
the Ychma people (900 – 1400 A.D.).

SAT
26 Aug
26 This morning, make your own way back to Lima International Airport (LIM).

Aug 2023 Check-in and board your scheduled flight to Cusco.

Scheduled Flight: LATAM Airlines (LA 2007) - own booking

Depart: Lima International Airport (LIM) at 08:05
Arrive: Cusco International Airport (CUZ) at 09:27

Upon arrival at Cusco International Airport (CUZ), you will be picked up and
transferred in a private vehicle to Sol y Luna (~2hrs drive, depending on traffic).

En route, you will stop by Chinchero for an immersive experience on Andean

weaving.

Half Day Private Chinchero Ruins and Town

Chinchero is most famous for the extraordinary beauty and quality of its textiles,
where local people dress in traditional, colourful outfits and travel down from their
villages to trade their goods. This provides guests with a great opportunity to
peruse the goods on offer and interact with some of the locals.

Afterwards, you will visit the weavers' workshop of Nilda Callañaupa, who 28 years
ago decided to bring together like-minded women who shared her passion for
weaving, and in time was able to motivate younger women who had lost interest in
weaving to learn from their elders and connect once more with this ancestral art.
She began working in the yard of her own house in Chinchero, and in 1996 her
project became the Centre for Traditional Textiles of Cusco, a strong organization
dedicated not only to the preservation, but also the commercialisation of beautiful,
high-quality textiles. This visit will be greatly enriched with the explanation of the
protagonist of this story, Nilda Callañaupa.

At the end of the experience, you will be dropped off at your hotel in the beautiful
Sacred Valley by 13:30 ~ 14:00.

Check-in, enjoy lunch (own expense) at the hotel and soak in the stunning
landscapes all around.

Armed with a camera, Christian Declercq - a true master of photography, whose
talent has led to him becoming a teacher at one of Peru’s most prestigious
universities - reveals some of Lima’s most photogenic corners, sharing them with
other professional photographers and beginners.

You will visit the Callao Monumental, a colourful traditional neighbourhood

favoured by gallery-based and graffiti artists. Nearby, you will climb to the roof of
the Fugaz gallery, from where you will be able to photograph the colonial-era Real
Felipe fortress on the Pacific shore.

Lunch (included) will be served at Cala Restaurante, where the cuisine is inspired
by the past, present and future of Peruvian gastronomy.

After a well-earned gastronomic break, you will go to Barranco, Lima’s "bohemian

quarter" and home to contemporary chefs and creatives. There is good food, as
well as avenues to walk, ocean views, and corners just asking to be photographed.

This is a walk which although it takes in some of Lima's most famous sights,
manages to explore the city in a different way to more traditional city tours. And it
is ideal for photography enthusiasts, Instagrammers or travellers keen to
experience something different.

The tour concludes @ 17:00. Tonight, you may wish to take a stroll out for dinner
(own expense) at Canta Rana or Awicha.

SUN
03 Sep
03 Sleep in a little today, have a slow Sunday brunch and then spend the rest of the
day at leisure around Lima.
Sep 2023
Depending on your interests, you may feel free to check out some of the following
museums, art galleries and/or historical sites:

1. Dédalo
It's an exhibition space, boutique home goods and clothing atelier, and
storybook-charming outdoor café all in one — and it’s one of the first artisan hubs
in the Barranco neighbourhood. This is where you'll want to complete your
souvenir shopping, whether you're in search of a one-of-a-kind handbag or a
cool Peru-specific tchotchke or even objets d'art by Peruvian artists and
craftsmen.

2. Museo Jade Rivera

The exhibition focuses on the work of the acclaimed muralist Jonatan
"Jade" Rivera, from his early works to his most recent pieces, showcasing his
evolution and artistic versatility on canvases that reflect his style. All of this is
complemented by the architecture of an old Barranquian house that exudes
nostalgia in each of its spaces.

3. Museum of Contemporary Art of Lima (MAC Lima)

The permanent collection at MAC is a quick study but visiting exhibits, such as a
David LaChapelle retrospective, are major draws. There is also a good on-site café
and a sculpture park (free access) with shady lawns that provide a good city
respite.

4. Casa de Aliaga
Take an Uber out to Lima's Centro Histórico and hire a guide in advance to visit
the oldest continuously inhabited private residence in the Southern Hemisphere.

Afterward, take the chance to also walk around Plaza de Armas to admire the
exteriors of the Palacio de Gobierno, the Cathedral de Lima, and the
Municipalidad; all examples of Lima's still-present colonial architectural opulence.
There is also the Convento de Santo Domingo which is a religious and
architectural gem that houses holy paintings, images, and relics of Peruvian saints,
as well as written accounts of the endeavors of the Dominican Order across the
country.

Full Day City Tour with Sugar Loaf

This tour allows time to take in historic streets, splendid baroque churches, and the
ruins of the old port from where most Brazilian gold began its journey to Europe.

The trip will also visit Santa Teresa, which exudes art, music and history.

The tour then heads to one of the most popular tourist attractions in Rio - the
Sugar Loaf. This name is due to the mountain’s shape resembling the conic
moulds that were used in the sixteenth century to produce sugar. The view from
the top is simply superb and there guests can also find restaurants bars souvenir
shops and playgrounds. By coming down to earth and visiting some of the
historical and cultural attractions in Rio's city centre it is easy and very interesting
to understand the whole history of the city.

Finally, you will see the Ruins Park, a cultural centre located at the ruins of an old
house with a belvedere that provides one of the most beautiful views of Rio.

Celebrate your birthday with dinner (own expense) at Grado for fresh handmade
pasta where chef Nello Garaventa and restaurant manager Lara Atamian (his wife)

Sep 2023
Half Day Tour of Fruit Market, Corcovado and Maracana Stadium
Rio is known for being a vibrant city as well as for its friendly warm and welcoming
residents. Its colourful street fruit and vegetable markets display a lot of these
qualities. They are all over Rio and are very easy to find being in different locations
every day of the week. You will start your day with a visit to the market where you
will be introduced to a huge variety of exotic tropical fruits, sounds, tastes and
colours. The vendors are very hospitable and are always pleased to give out some
samples of their products.

The tour then heads to the statue of Christ the Redeemer, with its open arms
blessing the whole city of Rio de Janeiro atop the 710-metre-high Corcovado Hill.
A superb view of the whole city can be enjoyed from its open terraces, including
the centre and the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and the Lagoon. Guests can
also see the Sugar Loaf at the entrance of Guanabara Bay, the city of Niterói, and
a huge portion of the northern part of the city.

The tour ends in a place considered as a temple for Brazilians. Built for the 1950
FIFA World Cup Brazil, the Estadio Jornalista Mario Filho, better known as
Maracana Stadium, provided the venue for a truly memorable decider between the
host nation and Uruguay, one of the most dramatic chapters in the history of the
competition. The Maracana was once considered the largest stadium in the world
with a capacity up to 200,000. It was completely renovated in 2014 for the FIFA
World Cup and has seen its capacity reduced to 76,935. It remains, nevertheless,
the country’s biggest football ground and Rio’s second most popular tourist
attraction that continues to attract football fans from all over the world. You will go
behind the scenes when you reach the stadium, passing by the Tribune Press, the
locker room, the Tribune of Honour, cabins and the museum which holds a
collection of relics of the stars who made the history of the temple in world football.

The tour concludes @ 14:00 where you will be dropped off back at your hotel.

Lunch (own expense) can be taken at Las Brutas located close by for more
authentic Brazilian cuisine. If you need an afternoon perk-me-up, pop over to Café

Sep 2023
Tour of the Brazilian Falls including a Macuco Safari boat ride
Described as 'an ocean falling into the abyss', the Iguaçu Falls are impressive, with
nearly three million gallons of water plunging down every second. The falls span
the border between Argentina and Brazil, and are made up of roughly 275
cascades and rapids that generate vast sprays of water, producing one of the most
spectacular waterfalls in the world. These frothing, all-powerful cascading jets of
water form clouds of spray that are conducive to the growth of lush vegetation
which, in turn, is home to many rare and endangered species of flora and fauna.
The Iguaçu National Park was the first conservation area in Brazil to be
established as a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986. Whilst the
Argentinean side of the falls allows visitors to get up close and personal, the
Brazilian side offers spectacular panoramic views. Catwalks offer striking views of
Devil’s Throat and the rest of the falls from both above and below. Direct frontal
views of the Devil's Throat can be taken in from a walkway that goes right out to it.

The tour will continue with a Macuco Safari boat ride (on shared / small group
basis).

The safari starts with a drive of 3km along a forest trail in a cart pulled by an
electrical vehicle. Several stops are made for bilingual guides to provide
information about the flora and fauna of the park.

At the 3km point, an optional 600-metre walking trail leads to a small waterfall
called Salto do Macuco.

From there, the trail continues to the banks of the Iguaçu River, where an
upstream zodiac boat tour to Devil's Throat begins. This exhilarating rafting
expedition is made in a large, sturdy, double-engine rubber launch and affords
visitors a unique and breathtaking beautiful view of the Falls. Be prepared to get
wet on this tour!

You will be dropped off back at the hotel @ 13:00 ~ 14:00 for lunch (own expense)

among the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

This Argentine side of the Iguazu Falls will take one full day to explore since the
falls can be viewed from a number of angles: the lower trail, upper trail, and Devil’s
Throat.

The lower trail comprises over a kilometer of paths across individual falls. Guests
can admire begonias, orchids, ferns and palms with flocks of parrots, toucans and
countless butterflies. From this circuit, San Martin Island is also accessible.

On the upper circuit catwalks literally hang over the falls offering beautiful sights.
The paths are often dotted with scuttling lizards, leaping monkeys, colourful parrots
and an array of butterflies.

Full Day City Tour in Buenos Aires

This full day city tour of Buenos Aires will begin in the Recoleta District which
offers Avenida Alvear: with its elegant architecture and tree-lined promenades
once home to the porteño aristocracy who erected a number of important
buildings. A visit to Recoleta Cemetery, the final resting place of Eva Duarte, is a
must. Neighbouring El Pilar Church is one of the city’s oldest churches with its
wonderful woodcarvings and silver altar.

Next is Plaza de Mayo and Casa Rosada, then the National Congress building.

San Telmo meanwhile, boasts colonial houses, cobblestone streets, churches,

museums, antique shops and a Sunday antiques market in Plaza Dorrego.

Finally, head to La Boca, the outrageously colourful neighborhood that's part

Instagram-worthy tourist attraction, part memorial to the city’s working-class

By the time you come back, the traditional barbecue will be ready: different types
of meat, vegetables, and salads.

In the afternoon, you can enjoy traditional activities as a spectator, or, whoever is

The day comes to a close with an afternoon snack consisting of tea and coffee,
and you can try mate (a traditional Argentinian drink) with local pastries.

Bid your gaucho friends farewell and be transferred back to your apartment

12 Sep
12 You will spend the day at leisure exploring the city of Buenos Aires on your own.

Sep 2023 Start your day with fresh bakes and a good coffee (own expense) at Vive Café or
La Bici - Café de Especialidad.

For the rest of the morning, book yourself on a guided tour of Teatro Colón to
experience the impressive venue where countless world-class acts such as Enrico
Caruso, Luciano Pavarotti and Maria Callas (to name a few) have graced its most
incredible stage with their presence. If you're more of a history fan, consider going
underground to learn about the origins of the city and hear all the fascinating
stories with a guided tour of El Zanjón de Granados.

For lunch (own expense), perhaps return to Palermo to enjoy more traditional
Argentine dishes at El Preferido de Palermo. The elegant high-ceilinged restaurant
with old-fashioned accents that the owner, Pablo Rivera (also the owner of the
iconic Don Julio), has chosen to retain. Start with a plate of housemade
charcuterie (seen hanging in the glass-walled "cava" at the back of the restaurant),
follow it with a roasted fish with capers, or an umami bomb of a lentil stew, add a
glass or two of orange wine, finish with an espresso and a plate of light crepes with
dulce de leche. Really, you could be in Buenos Aires in 1950 and not much would
have been different, which is exactly the point — and the charm.

Later this afternoon, we recommend paying a visit to Museo Evita which chronicles
the life of Argentina's most famous first lady — Eva Perón; or take a stroll around
Parque Tres de Febrero to admire its rose garden, planetarium and rowing lakes
for some respite from the busy city.

Tonight, you may wish to have an early dinner ROUX — a quaint corner bistro that
specialises in locally sourced seafood with house favourites including locally
sourced oysters, calamari steak, grilled shrimp, and griviche (a seafood salad with
baby squid, mussels, prawns and cured trout).

Rojo Tango Show

The grand "Cathedral" at Buenos Aires' chic Faena Hotel is a long hallway with
sky-high gold curtains and black leather benches leading to the French-style
cabaret where Rojo Tango is performed. Conceived by revolutionary French
designer Philippe Starck the space is reminiscent of the beginning of the 20th
century.

The setting, the first-class orchestra and its fabulous music, lighting, carefully
designed sexy period costumes and hairdos all add to a very special ambience
and an impeccable show. Somehow following the history of tango, the show starts
from its cabaret roots and evolves to the modern fusions of Ástor Piazzolla. Rojo
Tango brings you close to the roots of tango while relating the dance to the
modern world.
