The play takes place in a rundown room occupied by a couple, Rose and Bert. Rose is extremely talkative, speaking constantly, while Bert almost never talks or responds to his wife. Their landlord, Mr. Kidd, visits them and has a long conversation with Rose, as Bert remains silent. The characters have difficulty connecting and communicating with each other. By the end of the play, Bert becomes violent, suggesting the characters' inability to understand one another escalates into physical harm.

Has 4 main characters: Rose/ Bert/ The landlord MR Kidd/ Riley The Negro Takes place in a rundown room where a couple: Rose and Bert live Rose is talkative VERY TALKATIVE / Her husband never talks As much as she is talkative her husband is Cold and unresponsive to all of her talks The characters are complex and multi-dimensial (COMPLEX/ Way complex) MR Kidd is either dumb or acts like one. BERT: Bert is cold so cold he never seems to care about what his wife says He doesn’t communicate NEVER once in the whole first part does he answer or talk even when his wife addresses him or when the landlord came by he doesn’t seem to engage in a conversation. He doesn’t communicate his feelings/ thoughts whatsoever. He seems like a robot better yet a mute and a deaf person who doesn’t care enough to even greet someone or as much as look at them He is calm/ collected/ unresponsive/ Robot/ at the beginning but towards the end he beat a person to death and his wife too (I can’t say much the ending is ambiguous and unclear). Mr. sands and his wife’s appearance is pretty much irrelevant but is shows the outside world or more like the young generation. Mr. Kidd and Rose can’t seem to understand each other when they talk and yet he’s the only person with whom she held a long conversation apart from the sudden guests Mr. Kidd’s appearance is something like an omen because he brings this dark, gloomy vibe that makes you feel uneasy. The characters are disoriented with no sense of reason or clarity Individuals have a hard time connecting with each other. Here even Bret and Rose who live together eat together still are not able to communicate not even close to communicating. But despite all of this Rose is still is a loving wife/ A caring and attentive person A welcoming and hospitable hostess A talkative person yes but still a warm and welcoming soul. Timid and easily manipulated Loves her room and very much content with it Dreads the outside and refers to it as “murder “
