Identification of the most critical parameter for the wastewater

treatment using STOAT Software – C/17/18

Problem Background & In our research project, we employ STOAT software, a dynamic simulation
Project Description: tool for wastewater treatment plants, to explore the critical parameters
influencing treatment efficiency. Focusing on two distinct wastewater
treatment plants, we construct and simulate separate models for each
using STOAT. Through extensive simulations and sensitivity analyses, we
manipulate various conditions and parameters within the models,
uncovering invaluable insights that real-world experimentation cannot
provide. By identifying the most crucial parameter for wastewater
treatment in both plants, our study aims to enhance the efficiency and
sustainability of wastewater treatment processes, contributing significantly
to environmental conservation and public health.

Project Objective(s):  To gather required design parameters and characteristic values

wastewater of treatment plants.
a bullet list of clear objectives  To model and validate the Kurunegala and Ekala WWTPs using
decided STOAT model (ASAL 1A & ASAL 5A)
 To determine which parameters has the most influence the quality
of wastewater effluent for each WWTP (Performing a Sensitivity
Analysis by STOAT )
 To compare and generalize two results taken from the analysis
and determine how much is the WWTP's ability to manage
wastewater if there is a change in the parameter value
