CMU Presidential Scholarship (Active Recruitment)
for the 2023 Academic Year
(Chiang Mai University (CMU) is offering the CMU Presidential Scholarship (Active
Recruitment) with the purpose of supporting the department to select potential candies to become
students who meet the goals and needs of the department and to create a network of academic
‘cooperation both domestically snd iteratonally. A total of 60 scholarships ar allocated, divided
ino 40 scholarships for doetorl degrees, 20 scholarships for master's degrees, andthe proportion of
students who receive active scholarships must be incemtional students of not ess than 40
scholarships, in order to comply with the curiculum development strategy to motivate the
development of new modern courses tha is in demand inthe market and can be adjusted quiskly
including the reparation of courses in the frm of Active MOUs, where these developments will lead
to an increase in the mumber of graduate students who produce researeh that can be published in
higher quality journals, Active roeutment of the CMU Presidential Scholarship ean support this
strategy and is « tool that will help stimulate curriculum development in accordance with the
cssablished strateny.
1. Criteria for scholarships:
For Program
1) Doctoral degree and Master's degree programs that have recived the best ofall sme
auate degre program award or the best graduate degre program award, ot
2) Programs which stillhave continuous academic cooperation with ntemational universities
(Active MOU) of course which is developed under high academic cooperation (Strategic
Partnership Program) in a mulidisciplinary program, intediseiplinary program or intemationsl
rogram (program that internat onal students may enrol nto, managed i joint research project /joint
publication format or eveate personnel / students mobility between Chiang Mai University and
International universities, Inlading courses which are expected to advance the forming of an
scademic cooperation with intrational universities in the future, oF
3) Programs tha ink toChiang Mai University's strategy of excellence (Center of Excellence:
08), or
4) Programs that can ascept potential students to study Further to produce more intemational
research,
For Student
1) Applicants who are applying to enrol in doctoral or masts degree with ammaster’s thesis
or dissertation (doctoral thesis inthe 2023 academic year.2) Applicants must havea cumulative grade point average (GPA) of not less than 3.50 (besed
fon the maximum of 4, 00) or equivalent, pase refer to this website for more information

2.1 Candidates who meat the criteria for scholarships shoud be nominated tothe Graduate

2.2 The required documents are to be prepared in the form of @ PDF file, naming the fleas

4, Scholarship Payment:
Scholaeship payment will be made via the hank sccount afterall documents are approved snd

Not
ving allowance and secommxdaton wil be provided only while residing in Thailand, except when
leaving the county for researc purposes by approval on acase-by-case basis. Incase the
‘scholarship grantee cannot enter Thailand before the semester starts, the scholarship grantee can stil
stady the course online but will pot receive the living allowance and accommodation. The livingallowance end accommodation will be paid from the time of arival in Thailand onwards but not
exceeding the normal study perio,
‘5, Conditions for Scholarship Recipients:
5.1 Applicants must be a full-time stadent from the commencement date of that semester
unless otherwise approved by the CMU Presidential Scholarship Commitee.

semester uni graduation,
5.3 In order to graduate the scholarship grantee must comply with the standard eritera set by

The scholarship covers only the normal period of study foreach program.

8, Termination of Scholarship:

other reasons

9, Restitution:
Scholarship Grantees may have to restitue 8 total or part of the received scholarship under
any one ofthe following conditons,
9.1 Fails to Graduate within a certain period
192 The scholarship bas been terminated due to one ofthe retsons mentioned above, except
upon death
Restitution may be exempt in an individual case upon the approval of the scholarship
commits
