A key idea in mathematics is the rectangular coordinate system, sometimes referred to as the
Cartesian coordinate system, which is used to describe and identify points in space. It was
created in the 17th century by René Descartes and is an essential tool in many branches of
mathematics, science, engineering, and daily life. The system is made up of two perpendicular
axes, known as the x- and y-axes, respectively, that intersect at a point known as the origin,
which is often represented by the notation (0,0). With the help of these axes, each point's location
may be specified using a pair of numerical coordinates (x, y).

Its uses in real life:

1.) Graphs and Visualization: It facilitates the production of geometric forms, data, and
functions into visual representations.

2.) Mathematics: It is used to study trigonometry, solve geometry issues, and analyze functions.

3.) Physics and engineering are essential for simulating physical systems.

4.) GPS uses navigation to find locations on Earth.

5.) Rendering 2D and 3D graphics is done using computer graphics.

6.) Essential for item placement and animation in games and animation.
