3. What historical events influenced your life?

I think that the historical event most influenced my life was the
coronavirus pandemic. It was a difficult time for people.
Everyone knows the person who died or was in the hospital as a
patient.
At the beginning, we didn’t know how to protect ourselves from the virus
and how we can get infected with the coronavirus. When we went
outside, we had to wear masks. We couldn’t go out with friends or go to
the cinema and restaurant. Every day we stayed at home and worked
on the computer daily remote work. I remember empty streets, closed
shopping centers, and police patrols in parks and forests. Mass media
created an atmosphere of fear.
We also had a lot of free time for activities at home because we couldn’t
participate in outdoor entertainment. We could spend much more time
with our family. Some families went out to their plots in the countryside
for all months. It was fine! There was fresh air and freedom from masks.
It is believed that older people are at high risk of contracting the
coronavirus, so many people avoided visiting grandmothers and
grandfathers. On the contrary, I was visiting my grandma more often
because she lived in a house with a garden. My grandmother was not
afraid of meeting us and invited us very often.
Some people, especially teenagers, were depressed at that time. They
couldn’t meet their friends. All the time they used computers and the
internet to study and entertain themselves. Chatting didn’t replace real
relationships. Friends couldn’t hug each other.
Some people wore pajamas all day. They got depressed because their
mother or father died from this terrible virus, or they had lost their jobs.
Psychologists had a lot of work during that period.
For me, that time was time to relax and time to think about our lives. I
spent a lot of time with my dog during the big walks with him. I could
sleep more, and it was healthy. Every day I watched TV to know about
the situation. My mum is a dentist, and her work was harder, because of
terrible covid suites. The coronavirus pandemic was a special time
when we could get to know more about ourselves and our families. That
time, we also learnt new, good things. For example, we developed
cooking and IT skills. Today, after the pandemic we can notice traveling
by plane and going to a real school.
