Our past has been a great and glorious one. India could not have produced a heroine like Rani of Jhansi if she did not
have a glorious tradition. In the same way, as we have figures like Maitreyi in the ancient days, we have inspiring
examples of Ahalyabai of Maharashtra, Rani Bhawani of Bengal, and Razia Begum and Noor Jehan who were shining
administrators in recent historic time prior to the British rule in India. I have every confidence in the fertility of the
Indian soil. I am confident that India, as in the past, will surely produce the best flowers of womanhood.”

Women in India have great participation in every sphere of life starting from managing a home to managing a nation.
In spite of that, there are people who think that women are not capable enough to carry out responsible tasks. This
article is an attempt to show that men who have belief on women’s power are counted as great heroes for decades
and centuries. And, societies that distribute equal power to men and women are blessed with peace and progress.

Green bonds are fixed-income investments that are just like any regular bond, but the money raised from investors is
used exclusively to finance projects that have a positive impact on climate and the environment, such as renewable
energy and green buildings.

EdTech platforms provide services for adaptive, personalised learning experiences, the data they collect can include
personally identifiable information such as geolocation, and behavioural and activity (on virtual classrooms) data.
Malicious use of this sensitive information could result in identity theft, tracking, social engineering, bullying, or other
means for targeting children.

Platforms that are incentivising new users with discounted or zero price offerings can create market distortionary
effects, especially when larger entrenched firms with a predatory approach are involved. In times of Covid-19, making
services entirely free can end up damaging the free market. Non-sustainable zero pricing strategies are evident when
cash-strapped platforms take a hit with the larger players exercising their market power to drive such forms to exiting.
This leads to monopolisation where the larger firms look to recoup losses at a later stage. India’s telecom sector is a
good example to understand how the market is now left with only a few big fish.

Prey and predator populations are dynamic and responsive to each other. Predation is one of the many ways in which
nature maintains a balance in the ecosystem and keeps species’ populations under control. Areas where animal
populations are greatly declining due to changing land-use patterns, rapid urbanisation and deployment of large-scale
predator controls are seeing an increase in populations of mice, rats and several other animals. They not only destroy
the habitats needed by wildlife species but also cause an increased risk of zoonotic diseases. Not many realise that
large swarms of insects could cover the earth, causing a major threat to all things living if there were not enough
predators like frogs, fish, lizards and snakes predating on them.

Dr B R Ambedkar argued: “What should be the policy of the State, how the Society should be organised in its social
and economic side are matters which must be decided by the people themselves according to time and circumstances.
It cannot be laid down in the Constitution itself because that is destroying democracy altogether.”

Shastri’s maiden Independence Day speech in 1964 is as relevant today as it was then. Shastri observed: “We can win
respect in the world only if we are strong internally and can banish poverty and unemployment from our country.
Above all, we need national unity. Communal, provincial and linguistic conflicts weaken the country. Therefore, we
have to forge national unity. I appeal to all to work for national unity and usher in a social revolution to make our
country strong. In the ultimate analysis, the strength of the country does not lie in its material wealth alone. It requires
people like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Rabindranath Tagore. It requires the force of character and moral
strength. I appeal to our young men to inculcate discipline in themselves discipline and work for the unity and
advancement of the nation”. His stress on character and moral strength acquire special significance today, when we
see all-round degeneration of values in various fields.

“The present times require every Indian to emulate the simplicity, humility, humanism, austerity, hard work,
dedication and nationalism displayed by the unassuming second prime minister of India. Following his ideals would be
a fitting tribute to him on his birth anniversary.”
Let us not forget the sage advice of B R Ambedkar: “However good a Constitution may be, if those who are
implementing it are not good, it will prove to be bad. However bad a Constitution may be, if those implementing it are
good, it will prove to be good.” Our Constitution is one of the finest in the world but we need upright people in high
constitutional offices to uphold its promise. The AG is such an office since the Attorney General for India represents
the people of India. Professionally speaking, the AG has to be good enough to be appointed a Supreme Court judge
and must discharge his office in that spirit.

The AG is “Attorney General for India”, not attorney general for the government of India. In that, the AG is special for
he acts “for India” and not the government. There is a constitutional expectation on the AG and other legal officers to
exercise independent judgement and provide wise counsel to the government, notwithstanding who appointed them
or what advice is being expected from them. This makes the task of the AG very difficult and indeed delicate. The fact
that constitutionally the AG has to be as good as a Supreme Court judge clearly demonstrates the framers intent. The
AG ought to be a pivotal institution that helps the government act in accordance with the rule of law. In our system,
the AG is obliged to speak truth to power and help the government to adhere to the Constitution.
