Nowadays, the environmental issues become more serious because of the

increase of water and air pollution in industry. The scientists have researched and found
out to as many as novel absorbent materials which can limit the pollution. In the 4.0 era
and about move to 5.0, the development of nuclear energy, metallurgy, mining, chemical
producing has discharged to the environment the enourmous amount of toxic heavy
metal ion, organic toxins to water and soil environment, which can cause heavy damage
on surface or subsurface environments. The scientists has found out many methods
which can remove heavy metals ion, organic toxins in water and solid such as chemical
precipitation ,membrane filtration, ion exchange photocatalytic degradation coagulation
oxidation/reduction, and solvent extraction. Afterall, absorption become the chosen
because of low-cost, simple operation, high-efficiency, environment-friendly and the
regeneration of the absorbents.

Boron nitride (BN) has attracted to the academic scientists and the inventors in
industrial sectors due to its flawless physisorption and chemisorption. It has good
mechinical property, excellent oxidation resistance, high thermal conductivity, thermal
stability, chemical inertness and applications in ultraviolet optoelectronic devices. BN
nanostructure is similar to the carbon nanostructures which includes nanorods,
nanowires and nanotubes can be used in machenical reinforcement applications, high-
temperation or absorbent to clean the waste water. Boron nitride was first synthesized
by an English Chemist, W. H. Balmain in 1840's by using molten boric acid and
potassium cyanide. The dipolar characteristic of BN make activated BN become more
popular in absorption industry to remove environmental pollutants. The polar B-N bonds
are also suitable with the chemisorption of metal ions in waste water. On top of that, the
high surface area and multiple interstitial accommodation in activated BN also plays an
important role in the high adsorption capacity and efficiency.
