AAs land and air borders have opened up and more venues are opening up for live performances, you have been selected to be part of “SGR Music LIVE!” a new EDM festival paying homage to electronic artists and loopmasters! Congratulations! ‘Ableton has been very kind to sponsor part of our festival, thus you will be provided with a fully working demo version of their very latest DAW, Ableton Live I ‘SGR Music LIVEN" aims to be a very different festival compared to others - thus the festival organisers have come up with a list of requirements for all prospective DJs and composers. Instead of our usual EDM performances by Daft Punk, Depeche Mode and The Prodigy, the organisers would like for you to adhere to several key “ingredients” in your solo acts Requirements for your sole set (Pre-recorded track Your set should be between 3 - 4 minutes long 2) In order to have a better understanding of your set, do shat ur rationale bel the form and structure of your set (text and graphic representation). 5) Your Ableton Live set must have a total of 4 traces, with 4 elips each (thus, total of 6 clips) ‘An example ofa track is shown below, in the session view. A track is able to host multiple ifferent clips of music in the form of loops that can be repeated over and over, and it also ‘manages the creation of new music clips through recording, mixing, adding effects etc. A clip refers to @ singular MID} roll of music of audio recording, that can be played on ‘command in the session view. 4) Each clip should be at least 4 bars, and in your set, you must manipulate at least 8 clips, live as part of your performance! 5). Special Requests from our Sponsors for your 4 tracks: a) | a @ a 2 (One of your tracks should be based on any loop or sample found in the ‘Ableton Sound Library. (One of your tracks must utilise drums or multi-percussion instruments and must be groove-based. (One of your tracks must be melodic, with no added harmonies. ‘As you are a D1 based in Singapore -a melting hotpot of different musical cultures - you must sample atleast traditional instrument. You may use the Thai Gongs or any of the traditional instruments you can find at your base of operations. ‘You must use seventh chords in your harmonic progressions, and you may also choose to use a whole-tone scale or different pentatonic scales Use atleast 10 ofthe following compositional devices in your set, augmentation, diminution, sequence, imitation, rhythmic displacement (eg. syncopation), and inversion Of the 16 clips you may only have I recording of yourself assigned as a clip, “SCR Music LIVE?" would like to hear more manipulated sounds!
