Work Breakdown Structure
(WBS)
The process of dividing complex projects to simpler and manageable tasks.
Most of information technology projects make use of WBS because most of the WBS diagrams are designed
based on deliveries or project phases.
Why WBS?
Accurate and readable project organization.
Starting point for creating a WBS is identifying the main deliverables of a project.
This is usually done by, the project managers and the subject matter experts.
Rules:
➔ The smallest task of the WBS is at least two-week long.
➔ 8/80 rule - no task should be smaller than 8 hours of work and should not be larger than 80 hours of work.

Giving visibility to important work efforts.
