Application Method
Due to its high adhesion Ultrafill is the ideal solution to primer
filling surfaces prior to painting on plastic or metal substrates.
It is ideal for small repair areas such as minor accident
damage, rub through’s when flatting, or small components
such as mirror housings. Application areas for Ultrafill are on
almost any metal or plastic surfaces. The list below is
comprehensive, but by no means exhaustive: -
• Bonnet and boots; Wings, quarter panels and doors; ‘A’, ’B’ and
‘C’ posts; Roofs; Bumpers; Side mirror housings.
Instructions for use
Preparation
1. Area to be painted should be final flatted with P180 or P240
2. Clean repair area with either Acrysol or Panel wipe. Allow to
Dry
3. Shake the Ultrafill aerosol can. It is important that the can is
shaken for a minimum of 1 minute from the time that the ball
starts moving.
Painting
1. Hold can approximately 15 to 20 cm from the panel.
2. Apply first coat to panel ensuring full but not heavy coating,
using a steady movement of the can with an overlapping
spray action, ensuring a fully wet coat.
3. Allow 1 to 2 min between coats dependent on ambient
conditions. Shake the can between coats. The second coat
can be applied more heavily, building up in required areas
(please note that due to the fast drying time of this product, if too
heavy a coat is applied then it is possible for solvent to become
trapped between coats, causing paint defects at a later stage). To
achieve a fast finish, it is imperative that 3-4 lighter coats are
applied as opposed to 1-2 heavy coats. Heavy coats will trap
solvent and considerably slow down the curing process. In most
cases, for a keyed panel 3 coats should be sufficient. It is
recommended that coat depth does not exceed 100 > 120 micron
for best results including best time for repair completion.
4. It is possible to build very heavy coats but this is only advised in
small local areas for pit filling, due to extended drying times
required.
5. It is also important to invert can after application of a coat spray
briefly to clear the spray head.
Drying time
1. Drying times are dependant on ambient temperatures, but are
generally:- Air-Dried -15-20 minutes
Infra red/Oven baked - 5-10 minutes
2. If no heat or other UV type of drying aid is available, the drying
time can be reduced by passing air over the painted surface
3. Heavy coats or many fast-applied coats will take between 30 to 45
min to dry unless forced with heat
Flatting
1. Flatting in preparation for final colour coating can be with either dry
paper or wet and dry (P320 or finer)
After flatting, use panel wipe or Acrysol to clean and degrease
surface in preparation for overcoating.

Hints & Tips

Due to the high solid contents, ensure that the product is fully shaken as per the use
instructions before spraying. If a thick/heavy coverage is required, this is best achieved
by building up the coverage with more coats of a regular thickness as opposed to fewer but
DS70 heavy coats. Allowing the coats to flash off before applying the next coat will allow solvent
to dissipate from the product, and not become trapped between layers.
