THE UNSEALING OF THE SEVEN SEALS

UNDERSTANDING THE BOOK OF REVELATION

It is impossible to rightly understand the Book of Revelation before rightly understanding

the sanctuary message. It is a prerequisite knowledge to understanding this book. The
sanctuary message is the whole gospel of our salvation. The whole Bible contains that
gospel, that plan in execution. All books of the Bible begin and end in the book of
Revelation. It and the book of Daniel should be studied intensely and prayerfully.

In the Revelation all the books of the Bible meet and end. Here is the complement of
the book of Daniel. One is a prophecy; the other a revelation. The book that was sealed is
not the Revelation, but that portion of the prophecy of Daniel relating to the last days.
The angel commanded, "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even
to the time of the end." Daniel 12:4. {AA 585.1}

"Such subjects as the sanctuary, in connection with the 2300 days, the commandments
of God, and the faith of Jesus ... are the principal subjects on which the messengers
should dwell." EW 63

THE SANCTUARY MESSAGE

Introduction
Psalms 77:13 Thy way, O God, [is] in the sanctuary: who [is so] great a God as [our]
God?

The sanctuary system of worship had but one great theme, which was and still is; that we
can only get redemption through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. There is no other
name by which man can be saved except the name of Jesus Christ the Only begotten son
of God. In the sanctuary is the way of God. There we can follow his footsteps as we
follow the progress of our salvation. These footsteps are seen in the fulfillments in
history.

“The whole system of types and symbols was a compacted prophecy of the gospel, a
presentation in which were bound up the promises of redemption.” {AA 14.1}

“Christ Himself was the originator of the Jewish system of worship, in which, by
types and symbols, were shadowed forth spiritual and heavenly things. Many forgot
the true significance of these offerings; and the great truth that through Christ alone
there is forgiveness of sin, was lost to them. The multiplying of sacrificial offerings, the
blood of bulls and goats, could not take away sin. . . . {AG 155.3}
“A lesson was embodied in every sacrifice, impressed in every ceremony,
solemnly preached by the priest in his holy office, and inculcated by God Himself--that
through the blood of Christ alone is there forgiveness of sins.” {AG 155.4}

1
In the ancient time, the sanctuary message and the whole Jewish economy was the
syllabus of the schools of the prophets and of the home school of those parents who loved
the lord with the whole of their hearts. As they rose, walked out, walked in, walked by the
way, came in, sat down and retired to sleep, they taught these great lessons to their
children. We should today if indeed we are given to the Lord Body, Mind and Spirit even
with our house holds. These truths should be constantly taught in our churches during
Bible studies. If this should be so, the faith of many would be thus unwavering.

“In both the school and the home much of the teaching was oral; but the youth also
learned to read the Hebrew writings, and the parchment rolls of the Old Testament
Scriptures were open to their study. The chief subjects of study in these schools were the
law of God, with the instruction given to Moses, sacred history, sacred music, and
poetry. In the records of sacred history were traced the footsteps of Jehovah. The
great truths set forth by the types in the service of the sanctuary were brought to view,
and faith grasped the central object of all that system--the Lamb of God, that was to
take away the sin of the world. A spirit of devotion was cherished. Not only were the
students taught the duty of prayer, but they were taught how to pray, how to approach
their Creator, how to exercise faith in Him, and how to understand and obey the teachings
of His Spirit. Sanctified intellect brought forth from the treasure house of God things new
and old, and the Spirit of God was manifested in prophecy and sacred song.” {Ed 47.2}

“The subject of the sanctuary and the investigative judgment should be clearly
understood by the people of God. All need knowledge for themselves of the position
and work of their great High Priest. Otherwise, it will be impossible for them to
exercise the faith which is essential at this time, or to occupy the position which God
designs them to fill....

“The sanctuary in heaven is the very center of Christ's work in behalf of men. It
concerns every soul living upon the earth. It opens to view the plan of redemption,
bringing us down to the very close of time, and revealing the triumphant issue of the
contest between righteousness and sin. It is of the utmost importance that all should
thoroughly investigate these subjects, and be able to give an answer to every one that
asks them a reason of the hope that is in them.” Great Controversy, page 488

“The correct understanding of the ministration in the heavenly sanctuary is the foundation
of our faith.--Letter 208, 1906. {Ev 221.2}

“Some would object that the sanctuary message should not be preached. Some
would even say they do not see the third angel's message in it. Some would even
falsely claim and zealously proclaim the falsehood that there is no sanctuary in heaven.
We are not to be distracted. We have a message to proclaim and we cannot leave our
station of duty.
For more than half a century the different points of present truth have been questioned
and opposed. New theories have been advanced as truth, which were not truth, and the
Spirit of God revealed their error. As the great pillars of our faith have been presented, the

2
Holy Spirit has borne witness to them, and especially is this so regarding the truths of the
sanctuary question. Over and over again the Holy Spirit has in a marked manner
endorsed the preaching of this doctrine. But today, as in the past, some will be led to
form new theories and to deny the truths upon which the Spirit of God has placed His
approval.”--Manuscript 125, 1907. {Ev 224.2}

We will therefore look at a few key lessons that we MUST learn from the sanctuary
system of worship and the Jewish economy as a whole.

PART ONE: THE COURTS

The Outer Court

This was the first apartment of the earthly sanctuary. It had two apparatus namely the
basin of water and the brazen alter upon were offered the animal sacrifices. The
antitype of the outer court is this earth.

“The church of God below is one with the church of God above. Believers on the earth
and the beings in heaven who have never fallen constitute one church. Every heavenly
intelligence is interested in the assemblies of the saints who on earth meet to worship
God. In the inner court of heaven they listen to the testimony of the witnesses for Christ
in the outer court on earth, and the praise and thanksgiving from the worshipers below
is taken up in the heavenly anthem, and praise and rejoicing sound through the heavenly
courts because Christ has not died in vain for the fallen sons of Adam.” {AG 75.4}

From the basin, the priest had to wash his feet and hands before handling any sacrifice or
entering into the holy place lest he die. It was the first thing the priest had to do before
starting to minister, then he moved to the brazen alter. The removing of shoes by the
priest and then the washing of the feet also symbolized what Moses did at the burning
bush and what Joshua did by the bank of River Jordan. The sanctuary is not to be defiled
by dust which in the washing of feet during the Holy Communion symbolizes the
washing away of our defilements.

“Moses at the burning bush was directed to put off his sandals, for the ground whereon
he stood was holy. So the priests were not to enter the sanctuary with shoes upon
their feet. Particles of dust cleaving to them would desecrate the holy place. They
were to leave their shoes in the court before entering the sanctuary, and also to wash both
their hands and their feet before ministering in the tabernacle or at the altar of burnt
offering. Thus was constantly taught the lesson that all defilement must be put away
from those who would approach into the presence of God.” Patriarchs and Prophets,
page 350.

The fire used on the brazen alter, as all the fire used in the sanctuary, was holy fire
kindled by God Himself. So likewise the fire that will destroy all those that reject Christ
will be kindled by God Himself. Baptism once you know it as a requirement for salvation
is a must or else you will perish. Some do not consider baptism as essential for salvation.
Some have perverted it. All this is the broad and wide way that leads to eternal death. We

3
must be born of water and of the Holy Spirit if we are to enter into the Kingdom of God.
Not all of us are the repentant dying thief on the cross who had not the opportunity to be
baptized even if he wanted. John 3:3-5, Mark 16:16. On earth there are three that bear
witness and these are the Spirit, the Water and the Blood. 1 John 5:7, 8

The sinner had to slay the sacrificial animal himself thus teaching that it is our sins that
took Christ to the Cross.

The entrance to the court was towards the east or the sun rising and this was to separate
God's people from the sun worshipers who had the entrance to their temples towards the
west so that they could kneel facing the east and worship the rising sun. Even today the
sun is still worshiped in a disguise as in sun-day sacredness. Ezekiel 8:16.

“In the ritual service, salt was added to every sacrifice. This, like the offering of incense,
signified that only the righteousness of Christ could make the service acceptable to
God. Referring to this practice, Jesus said, “Every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.”
“Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.” All who would present
themselves a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God,” must receive the saving salt,
the righteousness of our Savior.” The Desire of Ages, page 439.

The Holy Place

This is the place where was the priest's daily ministration of intercession for the people. It
involved both the daily burning of the incense and presentation of the sacrifices of the
people. It had three main furnitures, namely:

a) The Seven gold candles on one candle stand. Among these candles is where Jesus
the true witness is seen walking in the book of Revelation. Therefore the messages to the
seven churches represent Christ's message to the churches in real time from the time he
began his ministry in the first apartment of the heavenly sanctuary. The time therefore to
reckon the beginning of these churches is from the apostolic time after the ascension of
Jesus Christ in to the heavenly sanctuary to the end. The candles were to the South of the
holy place. The grand teaching here is that it is Christ that keeps watch over his church
just as the priest kept watch over the candles that none would go out. The oil in the
candles represents the Holy Spirit working to give forth the light that shines forth from
them.

“Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which
shall be hereafter; the mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in My right hand, and
the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and
the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches." Revelation 1:11, 18-
20. {AA 585.2}
“The names of the seven churches are symbolic of the church in different periods of
the Christian Era. The number 7 indicates completeness, and is symbolic of the fact that
the messages extend to the end of time, while the symbols used reveal the condition of
the church at different periods in the history of the word. {AA 585.3}
“Christ is spoken of as walking in the midst of the golden candlesticks. Thus is

4
symbolized His relation to the churches. He is in constant communication with His
people. He knows their true state. He observes their order, their piety, their devotion.
Although He is high priest and mediator in the sanctuary above, yet He is represented as
walking up and down in the midst of His churches on the earth. With untiring
wakefulness and unremitting vigilance, He watches to see whether the light of any of
His sentinels is burning dim or going out. If the candlesticks were left to mere human
care, the flickering flame would languish and die; but He is the true watchman in the
Lord's house, the true warden of the temple courts. His continued care and sustaining
grace are the source of life and light.” {AA 586.1}

"Who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks." Revelation 2:1. This
scripture shows Christ's relation to the churches. He walks in the midst of His churches
throughout the length and breadth of the earth. He watches them with intense interest
to see whether they are in such a condition spiritually that they can advance His
kingdom. Christ is present in every assembly of the church. He is acquainted with
everyone connected with His service. He knows those whose hearts He can fill with the
holy oil, that they may impart it to others." {6T 418.3}

“The oil is received into vessels prepared for the oil. It is the Holy Spirit in the heart
which works by love and purifies the soul. . . .The golden oil represents the grace
with which God keeps the lamps of believers supplied. Were it not that this holy oil is
poured from heaven in the messages of God's Spirit, the agencies of evil would have
entire control over men. God is dishonored when we do not receive the communications
that He sends us. Thus we refuse the golden oil which He would pour into our souls to be
communicated to those in darkness (RH Feb. 3, 1903). {SDA Bible Commentary Volume
4 p. 1179}

b) The Table of Shew Bread to the North of the Holy Place. Here was placed
unleavened bread every Sabbath as that which was put there the previous Sabbath was
eaten then by the priest. This presented the eating of bread of life, the Word of God, every
Sabbath. This is the weekly keeping of the Sabbath day and gathering for holy worship.
God our creator and sustainer cannot call an assembly, a meeting and we refuse to attend.
Hebrews 10:25-27. The frankincense and oil that was put to that bread symbolize Christ's
Righteousness for us that is taught in the Bible and the Holy Spirit leads us into all truth
taught in the same.

“The show bread was kept ever before the Lord as a perpetual offering. thus it was a part
of the daily sacrifice. It was called show bread, or “bread of the presence,” because it was
ever before the face of the Lord. It was an acknowledgement of man's dependence
upon God for both temporal and spiritual food, and that it is received only through
the mediation of Christ. God had fed Israel in the wilderness with bread from heaven,
and they were still dependent upon His bounty for both temporal food and spiritual
blessings. Both the manna and the show bread pointed to Christ, the living bread,
who is ever in the presence of God for us. He Himself said, “I am the living bread
which came down from heaven.” Frankincense was placed upon the loaves. When the
bread was removed every Sabbath, to be replaced by fresh loaves, the frankincense was

5
burned upon the altar as a memorial before God.” Patriarchs and Prophets, page 354.

c) The Golden alter to the West of the Holy Place just before the curtain that separates
between the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies. On this alter the sweet smelling incense
which represented the prayers of the saints was ever to burn night and day before the
Lord God. At the feet of this blood was usually sprinkled the blood of the sacrificial
animal whose flesh was not eaten by the priest. Our prayers are only made sweet before
the Lord by the sacrificial death of Christ on our behalf. His righteousness is presented
before God instead of ours. Without the shed blood of Christ on our behalf we have no
Hope of our prayers being received by God. We must confess our sins daily and accept
the daily intercession of Christ on our behalf.

David says, “Let my prayer be set forth before Thee as incense.” Ps. 141:21.

“All the furniture of the tabernacle was made of solid gold, or plated with gold. The
curtains of the tabernacle were of a variety of colors, most beautifully arranged, and in
these curtains were wrought, with threads of gold and silver, cherubims, which were to
represent the angelic host, who are connected with the work of the heavenly
sanctuary, and who are ministering angels to the saints upon the earth.” {4aSG 8.2}

The Holy of Holies

In this apartment the High priest got into it only once every year to atone for the sins of
the people thus cleanse the sanctuary of our sins recorded therein. In this apartment was
kept the Ark of the Covenant which God made with the Israelites. In the ark were the two
tablets of the Ten Commandments, the basis of God's covenant with the Israelites which
they swore to God to keep as their duty in the covenant agreement. Then they would be
God's people and He would keep them and prosper them. Blessings and life, eternal life,
were promised them on the basis of their obedience to these Ten Commandments and
curses and death, eternal death were likewise promised them up on their stubborn
disobedience to these Ten Commandments. In the ark also were added later the golden
pot of manna and Aaron's rod that budded. Numbers 17:4, 10, Hebrews 9:4 The manna
represented Jesus Christ, the Word of God; the manna that we must eat till we enter our
heavenly Canaan. Aaron's rod vindicated Christ's priesthood and that there is none
besides it for the family of Aaron ministered as representatives of Christ. But the Papacy
and the Mormons among others have a counterfeit priesthood as do the heathen religions
of the world. There is not to be a restoration of Aaron's priesthood. It ended at the Cross
and Christ became our High priest. Those who do not have Jesus Christ as their High
priest are as good as eternally dead unless they repent of this evil and have Him as their
only High priest. There is no other way by which we can come to the father. Jesus is the
way and the only mediator, not and never will be Mary his mother. We have no life in
ourselves unless we study or eat the word of God daily in our lives. We can never be too
busy to eat the bread of life. We must value it more that our necessary food if we are to
get eternal life. Job 23:12. Fathers must institute family devotion in their homes daily if
they are to feed their families with the bread of life. A lack of this is a betrayal of trust
and a boycotting of duty given them of God for which they must be held guilty should
any of his family members perish. Isaiah 38:18-19, Ephesians 6:4. This is the work of the

6
fathers. Mothers only assist.

“In the holiest I saw an ark; on the top and sides of it was purest gold. On each end of
the ark was a lovely cherub, with its wings spread out over it. Their faces were turned
toward each other, and they looked downward. Between the angels was a golden censer.
Above the ark, where the angels stood, was an exceeding bright glory, that appeared
like a throne where God dwelt. Jesus stood by the ark, and as the saints' prayers came
up to Him, the incense in the censer would smoke, and He would offer up their prayers
with the smoke of the incense to His Father. In the ark was the golden pot of manna,
Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of stone which folded together like a book.
Jesus opened them, and I saw the Ten Commandments written on them with the finger of
God. On one table were four, and on the other six. The four on the first table shone
brighter than the other six. But the fourth, the Sabbath commandment, shone above them
all; for the Sabbath was set apart to be kept in honor of God's holy name. The holy
Sabbath looked glorious--a halo of glory was all around it. I saw that the Sabbath
commandment was not nailed to the cross. If it was, the other nine commandments were;
and we are at liberty to break them all, as well as to break the fourth. I saw that God had
not changed the Sabbath, for He never changes. But the pope had changed it from the
seventh to the first day of the week; for he was to change times and laws.” {EW 32.3}

“The sacred ark, covered by the mercy-seat, and containing the holy law of God, was
symbolical of Jehovah himself.” Present Truth, April 1, 1886.

“Among the righteous still in Jerusalem, to whom had been made plain the divine
purpose, were some who determined to place beyond the reach of ruthless hands the
sacred ark containing the tables of stone on which had been traced the precepts of the
Decalogue. This they did. With mourning and sadness they secreted the ark in a cave,
where it was to be hidden from the people of Israel and Judah because of their sins, and
was to be no more restored to them. That sacred ark is yet hidden. It has never been
disturbed since it was secreted.” Prophets And Kings, page 453.

Above the Ark of the Covenant are two cherubims one of whom is angel Gabriel who
took the place of Lucifer who is now the fallen angel Satan. They bow before God who
sits in the throne between them but above them. Here is blazing light unapproachable. In
the ark were the Ten Commandments which are the foundation of God's throne, His
government. The fourth, the Sabbath commandment is today trampled underfoot by an
overwhelming majority of the Christian believers. It is the only commandment that
identifies God as the only Supreme King of the whole Universe, the very Creator of it.
This is the only commandment that mentions Him by name and defines his territory as
the whole universe. This is the only commandment that vindicates the creation truth yet it
is the very commandment that is not only disregarded by an overwhelming majority of
supposedly Christian believers but perfectly hated by them. It perfectly serves the
purposes of Satan the archenemy of God and man to have it so and deceive many men in
fanatically believing that the weekly Sabbath commandment was crucified to the cross of
Calvary by Jesus Christ who came to vindicate it. It is the present truth. It is the seal of
God that will divide the whole world into only two classes; those that worship the Only

7
True God always will obey His voice and keep His commandments and have the faith of
Jesus. They that worship the dragon and the beast and his image cherish the spirit of
rebellion against God and would have nothing to do with His Sabbath. They claim to
recognize Christ as the Lord of Sabbath but refuse to recognize his Sabbath. How can one
recognize the president of a country and in the same breath refuse to recognize his
country? Sabbath breakers receive the mark of the Beast and receive the number of his
mane. There are no other classes. None whatsoever!

Christ entered the Holy of Holies on the 22nd October 1884 to begin his investigative
judgment work. Daniel 8:14. The works of all who have professed faith in Christ starting
with Adam begun to start appearing before God for judgment and this work is to continue
until Christ will say “it is done” Revelation 16:17 and throws the censer down. His work
in the Holy of Holies is done. Probation has closed for all men. This time is not far distant
my friend. Satan is gathering his forces for the last great battle yet we as the watchmen on
the walls of Zion are deep asleep in sin, earthly mindedness. All we know to do best and
zealously is to seek for money and more money while probation is fast closing up on us.
The image of the beast is being formed and we are content to have it so. We should be in
deep soul searching at this time when the four angels are still staying back the winds from
the four corners of the world from working havoc upon the sons and daughters of men.

The order of services on the Day of Atonement was wholly prophetic. Let's see the order
and the prophetic symbolism and significance for us who live in the last days.

Leviticus Chapter 16

16:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when
they offered before the LORD, and died;
16:2 And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not
at all times into the holy [place] within the veil before the mercy seat, which [is] upon the
ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.
16:3 Thus shall Aaron come into the holy [place]: with a young bullock for a sin
offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.
16:4 He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his
flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired:
these [are] holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and [so] put them
on.
16:5 And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the
goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.
16:6 And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which [is] for himself, and
make an atonement for himself, and for his house.
16:7 And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the LORD [at] the door
of the tabernacle of the congregation.
16:8 And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the
other lot for the scapegoat.
16:9 And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORD'S lot fell, and offer him
[for] a sin offering.

8
16:10 But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive
before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, [and] to let him go for a scapegoat
into the wilderness.
16:11 And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which [is] for himself, and
shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the
sin offering which [is] for himself:
16:12 And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar
before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring [it]
within the veil:
16:13 And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of
the incense may cover the mercy seat that [is] upon the testimony, that he die not:
16:14 And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle [it] with his finger
upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood
with his finger seven times.
16:15 Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that [is] for the people, and
bring his blood within the veil, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the
bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:
16:16 And he shall make an atonement for the holy [place], because of the
uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins:
and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them
in the midst of their uncleanness.
16:17 And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he
goeth in to make an atonement in the holy [place], until he come out, and have made
an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of
Israel.
16:18 And he shall go out unto the altar that [is] before the LORD, and make an
atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat,
and put [it] upon the horns of the altar round about.
16:19 And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and
cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.
16:20 And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy [place], and the
tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat:
16:21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess
over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all
their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send [him] away by the
hand of a fit man into the wilderness:
16:22 And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not
inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.
16:23 And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall put off
the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy [place], and shall leave
them there:
16:24 And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his
garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the
people, and make an atonement for himself, and for the people.
16:25 And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar.
16:26 And he that let go the goat for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his

9
flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp.
16:27 And the bullock [for] the sin offering, and the goat [for] the sin offering, whose
blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy [place], shall [one] carry forth
without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and
their dung.
16:28 And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water,
and afterward he shall come into the camp.
16:29 And [this] shall be a statute for ever unto you: [that] in the seventh month, on
the tenth [day] of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, [whether
it be] one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you:
16:30 For on that day shall [the priest] make an atonement for you, to cleanse you,
[that] ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD.
16:31 It [shall be] a Sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a
statute for ever.
16:32 And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister
in the priest's office in his father's stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the
linen clothes, [even] the holy garments:
16:33 And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an
atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an
atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.
16:34 And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the
children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded
Moses.

In summary the following was the order:

1. All that was needed was to set ready. These were the bullock for the High priest
and his household, the two goats, one for the Lord and the other for the
scapegoat or Azazel and finally two rams for the burnt offering, one for the
priest and the other for the people. All these must be made ready for the service
besides the daily sacrificial offerings. Numbers 29: 7-11. The plan of salvation
was mooted even before the foundations of the world.
2. As usual the High Priest washed his feet from the basin of water before the
entrance to the Holy Place and then put on the High Priest's Holy garments. Then
he would proceed to put incense to burn on the golden censer so as to ascend
with the prayers of the Israelites and his as he worked.
3. He would then offer his bullock for himself and for his family. The High Priest
then being man like us, fallen and sinful, his sins and of his family were more
gravious for he was to be an example for all the Israelites. He had therefore to
offer a bullock rather than a goat to atone for his sins and that of his household.
If judgment is to begin, it must begin with those that hold offices of trust in the
church of God. The High priest would then present the blood in the “holy place”
or the sanctuary within the veil at the ark of the covenant, sprinkling the blood
seven times to the east of the mercy seat or the throne and the again seven times
on the throne above the Ten commandments he and his household are guilty of
transgressing.

10
4. Then he would cast lots for the Lord's goat and for the Azazel. The one on which
the lot fell was the Lord's. He would then slaughter the Lord's goat and present
the blood at the Ark of the Covenant as he did with bullock’s blood. Christ our
sinless High Priest is presenting His own blood before the Mercy Seat of God to
atone for our sins that they may be cleared from against our names in the
heavenly record NEVER TO BE REMEMBERED. AMEN.
5. He then will take the bullock's blood again and present it in the “Holy place” or
the tabernacle sprinkling it seven times with the blood thus cleansing it ODF the
sins of the Israelites. He would also smear the blood on the four horns of the alter
thus cleansing them also.
6. He would repeat step five with the blood of the Lord's goat. The Sanctuary is
cleansed first, and then the Tabernacle, then the Golden Alter.
7. He would then come out of the Holy Place and confess the sins of the whole
camp, the Israelites and himself and household, on the scapegoat and it shall be
led away into the wilderness where no man dwelleth. It shall never come back
into the camp of the Israelites again. There in the wilderness it shall perish at
long last. All the sins that Satan has caused the saints to commit will be
confessed up on his head and he will bear them as the originator of even. During
the millennium of Revelation 20, Satan will already be bearing these sins and
will be left alone with his wicked angels to ponder over his own cause of
rebellion for 1000 years. The unrepentant sinners will bear their own sins.
8. The High Priest will then remove his Priestly garments and wear his usual
everyday clothes.
9. He will then proceed to the brazen alter in the outer court and offer his burnt
offering and thereafter offer the one for the congregation. This symbolizes the
second death of those who will reject the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, being
the pastors or the common people. They rejected the offer of grace and therefore
must partake of their just and due punishment, the second death that shall leave
only as ashes under our feet, we the redeemed. This will take place in the outer
court, this earth where we shall live in for eternity as our inheritance from the
Lord God and Jesus Himself will be with us for eternity. AMEN.
10. The remains of the bullock and the Lord's goat will then be taken outside the
outer court and be burned at a clean place outside the camp. We the redeemed
cannot be dust under our feet. Therefore the skin, dung and the flesh of the
bullock and the Lord's goat are taken without the camp. The fat was burned on
the Brazen Alter as usual. For the unrepentant sinners, because the fat which
represents sin is still found within themselves, they perish with it in the brazen
alter which represents the cross up on which Christ died. This was the second
death for us that is why Christ is the first born from among the dead, not those
that sleep. The plan of salvation is over. These are the things that should be
constantly presented before the people.
11. All the while, the congregation was to be fasting, searching their hearts whether
they are at peace with God and be abstaining from work. We are to abstain from
the sinful pleasures of the world, deny ourselves for the cause of Christ and
search our hearts constantly and earnestly preaching this last warning, the third
angel's message, to a fallen lost race that is ours. We are in the last houses of

11
probation and we cannot afford a moments sleep lest when the Master cometh to
search His house with the lamp and to punish those that are settled on their lees
we be found wanting.

“The whole system of types and symbols was a compacted prophecy of the gospel, a
presentation in which were bound up the promises of redemption.” {AA 14.1}

The prophecy in the service of the Day of Atonement is the following:

1) The slaughtering of the bullock and the goat symbolize the death of Jesus Christ
on the Cross for us that we might be saved. Got its fulfilment in 31 AD
2) The taking of the blood into the holy of holies represent the beginning and
continues to the end of the investigative judgment. The real day of atonement
begun in 1844 and is to go on to the close of probation for all men which is
slightly after the Universal Sunday Law.
3) The confession of sins on the scape goat symbolizes the confession of the sins of
the saints on Satan who caused them to do them. This will be just before the time
of the Seven Lat Plagues but after the close of probation.
4) The removing of the priestly garment by the High Priest symbolizes the close of
Christ's work as a High Priest for us. The wearing of the normal clothes
symbolizes the wearing of Christ' Kingly Robe or also known as the clothes
vengeance.
5) The taking away of the scape goat into the wilderness symbolizes the
imprisonment of Satan on this earth for the 1000 years when it shall be desolate.
This will be during the Millennium.
6) The burning of the two rams on the brazen alter symbolizes the Second Death.

The sanctuary service is the whole book of Revelation from chapter 1:1 to 22:21. In the
light of the intercession and judgment are these chapters to be understood. Christ our
Righteousness is the theme. We trace his footsteps all through the chapters as he is
fighting the devil to save us. These are revealed in the history of the nations and the
beasts that Satan is using to annihilate the saints from the face of the earth, but thanks be
to God. He that is with us is greater than he that is in the world. He is the King of Kings,
The Supreme Ruler of the Whole Universe, The Lamb of God, and The Lion of the tribe
of Judah. He has already overcome for us. We have nothing to fear except to offend Him;
that is to reject Him.

The Priestly Garments

The High Priestly Garments
They had the following colours:
Exodus 28:5 “And they shall take gold, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen.
Blue represented the commandments of God.
Gold often represents Pure Faith, Pure Love or Character,
Scarlet often represents blood and in the sanctuary it represents sacrifice
Purple would represent royalty

Numbers 15:38-41: "Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them

12
fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put
upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue: and it shall be unto you for a fringe,
that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the Lord, and do
them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to
go a whoring: that ye may remember, and do all My commandments, and be holy unto
your God. I am the Lord your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be
your God: I am the Lord your God."

PART TWO: THE ANNUAL FEASTS AND RELATED

CELEBRATIONS

We will first begin with two very important quotes.

“The gospel of Christ reflects glory upon the Jewish age. It sheds light upon the whole
Jewish economy, and gives significance to the ceremonial law. The tabernacle, or temple,
of God on earth was a pattern of the original in Heaven. All the ceremonies of the
Jewish law were prophetic, typical of mysteries in the plan of redemption. The rites
and ceremonies of the law were given by Christ Himself, who, enshrouded in a pillar of
cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, was the leader of the host of Israel; and this law
should be treated with great respect, for it is sacred. Even after it was no longer to be
observed, Paul presented it before the Jews in its true position and value, showing
its place in the plan of redemption and its relation to the work of Christ; and the
great apostle pronounces this law glorious, worthy of its divine Originator.” Signs, July
29, 1886.

“Christians who profess to be Bible students can appreciate more fully than ancient
Israel did the full signification of the ceremonial ordinances that they were required
to observe. If they are indeed Christians, they are prepared to acknowledge the
sacredness and importance of the shadowy types, as they see the accomplishment of the
events which they represent. The death of Christ gives the Christian a correct knowledge
of the system of ceremonies and explains prophecies which still remain obscure to the
Jews. Moses of himself framed no law. Christ, the angel whom God had appointed to go
before His chosen people, gave to Moses statutes and requirements necessary to a living
religion and to govern the people of God. Christians commit a terrible mistake in calling
this law severe and arbitrary, and then contrasting it with the gospel and mission of Christ
in His ministry on earth, as though He were in opposition to just precepts which they call
the Law of Moses.” Review and Herald, May 6, 1875

Here we see that the ceremonial laws and feasts that God gave to the Israelites are full of
gospel truth that most Christians today do not teach because they do not understand them
and most never bother even to understand. The end result is a confusion of the Ten
Commandments with the ceremonial laws and claim that all were abolished at the cross.
The weekly Sabbath no longer matters to them! The ceremonial economy was a
wonderful prophecy of our redemption story. You know it, you know what to expect next.
It becomes exceptionally very hard for someone to deceive you unless you deliberately

13
choose to be deceived.

These were the annual events in the Jewish calendar.

1. The Feast of the Passover and of the Unleavened Bread.

Took place on the 14th day of the First month of the Jewish calendar and on the next
day was the feast of the unleavened bread which lasted one week. This reminded
them of How the Lord saved them from slavery in Egypt. It pointed to the sacrificial
death of Christ on the cross for us to save us from the slavery in and of sin. Christ
replaced it with the Holy Communion on the night before he was arrested. In
partaking this as often as we can, we remember his death for us on the cross that it is
us who pursued him by our sins to the shameful death on there. The delivery of the
Israelites at midnight from the hands of Pharaoh also foretells how we shall be
delivered from the hands of the Dragon, the False Prophet and the Beast at midnight
when the death decree will be maturing.

“The Passover was ordained as a commemoration of the deliverance of Israel from

Egyptian bondage. God had directed that, year by year, as the children should ask the
meaning of this ordinance, the history should be repeated. Thus the wonderful
deliverance was to be kept fresh in the minds of all. The ordinance of the Lord's
Supper was given to commemorate the great deliverance wrought out as the result
of the death of Christ. Till He shall come the second time in power and glory, this
ordinance is to be celebrated. It is the means by which His great work for us is to be kept
fresh in our minds.” {DA 652.3}

The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is neither remembered by Good Friday or
Easter Sunday. It is by The Lord's Supper and the ordinance of Baptism.

2. The Feast of the First Fruits and the Pentecost.

Immediately after the Sabbath of the unleavened bread was the feast of the first fruits.
At this time the crops in the fields were starting to ripen and the first few ready
sheaves were to be presented to God as sign of gratefulness for the blessings in the
farm so far. These represented the firstfruits from among the righteous dead who
resurrected on that Sunday morning after the Sabbath of the unleavened bread when
Christ resurrected from the grave and later he ascended with them to present them
before His Father in heaven as the first fruits from among the dead. Seven weeks
latter it was the Pentecost and the Israelites were now to bring the first fruits of their
harvest as a token of their appreciation of the blessings that God has accorded to the
work of their hands in the fields. This met exact fulfillment seven weeks later after
the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on the day of Pentecost. The
disciples of Jesus Christ received the Holy Spirit promised them by our Master and
Friend Jesus Christ. There was a conversion of 3000 persons to the faith a
presentation of the first fruits of the life ministry of Jesus Christ. Christ preached, but
the disciples harvested. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit also indicated that Jesus
was now ready to start His Ministry as the High Priest in the Heavenly sanctuary. It is
on Pentecost that Christ began his work in the Holy place. Pentecost also points to the

14
future outpouring of the latter rain or the Holy Spirit in a manifold a measure to that
of the apostolic time when many, very many people will be converted in a day and
hear the everlasting gospel preached in their own tongues. Miracles will be done and
many sick people will be healed.

“After the ascension of Christ, the Holy Spirit did not immediately descend. There were
ten days after His ascension before the Holy Spirit was given. This time was devoted by
the disciples to most earnest preparation for receiving so precious an endowment. The
rich treasures of heaven were poured out to them after they had searched their own hearts
diligently and had sacrificed every idol. They were before God, humbling their souls,
strengthening their faith, confessing their sins. And their hearts were in harmony with one
another. "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord
in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind,
and it filled all the house where they were sitting" (Acts 2:1, 2). The church needs a
similar experience right here at the great heart of the work…..Are we searching our
hearts, preparing for the heavenly grace to be received? The Lord is waiting to be
gracious.” {TDG 10.2}

“It is with an earnest longing that I look forward to the time when the events of the Day
of Pentecost shall be repeated with even greater power than on that occasion. John says,
"I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was
lightened with his glory" [Rev. 18:1]. Then, as at the Pentecostal season, the people will
hear the truth spoken to them, every man in his own tongue.--6BC 1055 (1886).” {LDE
202.3}

“In visions of the night, representations passed before me of a great reformatory

movement among God's people. Many were praising God. The sick were healed, and
other miracles were wrought. A spirit of intercession was seen, even as was manifested
before the great Day of Pentecost.--9T 126 (1909).” {LDE 202.4}

This repeat of Pentecost and the Reformatory Movement is that represented by the other
angel that will join the third angel of Revelation 14:9-12 and swell his message into a
Loud Cry. Will you be part of this company?

"Christ's ascension to heaven was the signal that His followers were to receive the
promised blessing. For this they were to wait before they entered upon their work. When
Christ passed within the heavenly gates, He was enthroned amidst the adoration of the
angels. As soon as this ceremony was completed, the Holy Spirit descended upon the
disciples in rich currents, and Christ was indeed glorified, even with the glory which
He had with the Father from all eternity. The Pentecostal outpouring was Heaven's
communication that the Redeemer's inauguration was accomplished. According to
His promise He had sent the Holy Spirit from heaven to His followers, as a token that He
had, as priest and king, received all authority in heaven and on earth, and was the
Anointed One over His people." – Acts of the Apostles Pages 38, 39.

3. The Feast of the Blowing of the Trumpets

15
This usually took place on the 1st of the 7th month of the Jewish calendar. It lasted
only one day. It was sounded to prepare the people for the Day of Atonement which
was to follow 9 days later. This got its prophetic fulfillment when William Miller
began to preach the second advent of Jesus Christ in the Year 1833, exactly 9 years
before the commencement of the anti-typical Day of Atonement in the year 1844. He
misunderstood the cleansing of the sanctuary to stand for the cleansing of this earth
by fire hence the Second Advent. Rather it was the commencement of Christ's High
Priestly work of atonement in the Holy of Holies in the heavenly sanctuary built not
by human hands but by God Himself. What wonderful truths are these that many are
perishing for lack of! Let's arise and shine for our light is risen upon us, Jesus Christ
the Sun of Righteousness, with healing in His wings.

“In preaching the doctrine of the Second Advent, William Miller and his associates had
labored with the sole purpose of arousing men to a preparation for the judgment. They
had sought to awaken professors of religion to the true hope of the church and to their
need of a deeper Christian experience, and they labored also to awaken the unconverted
to the duty of immediate repentance and conversion to God. "They made no attempt to
convert men to a sect or party in religion. Hence they labored among all parties and sects,
without interfering with their organization or discipline." {GC 375.1}
"In all my labors," said Miller, "I never had the desire or thought to establish any
separate interest from that of existing denominations, or to benefit one at the expense of
another. I thought to benefit all. Supposing that all Christians would rejoice in the
prospect of Christ's coming, and that those who could not see as I did would not love any
the less those who should embrace this doctrine, I did not conceive there would ever be
any necessity for separate meetings. My whole object was a desire to convert souls to
God, to notify the world of a coming judgment, and to induce my fellow men to
make that preparation of heart which will enable them to meet their God in peace.
The great majority of those who were converted under my labors united with the various
existing churches."--Bliss, page 328. {GC 375.2}

“Like the first disciples, William Miller and his associates did not, themselves, fully
comprehend the import of the message which they bore. Errors that had been long
established in the church prevented them from arriving at a correct interpretation of an
important point in the prophecy. Therefore, though they proclaimed the message
which God had committed to them to be given to the world, yet through a
misapprehension of its meaning they suffered disappointment.” {GC 351.2}

4. The Day of Atonement

This has already been discussed. It occurred on the 10th day of the seventh month.
Prophetically this was fulfilled or begun to have its fulfillment on the 22nd of October
1844 when Christ entered into the Holy of Holies to begin the investigative judgment
of all who have ever professed belief in him. The judgment first starts in the house of
the Lord. 1844 is based on Daniel 8:14 which say that unto 2300 days then shall the
sanctuary be cleansed. In Daniel 9:25, the beginning of the 2300 days of years
commences in the year 457 AD when the decree went forth to restore and rebuild
Jerusalem. Adding 2300 years brings us to 1844 keeping in mind that there is no 0 BC

16
or AD. So we add 1.

457 AD + 2300 years = 2300 yrs – 457yrs +1 yr = 1844 AD

To date (2008 AD), the investigative judgment has been going on for about 164
years and soon it will be over.
“In like manner the types which relate to the Second Advent must be fulfilled at the
time pointed out in the symbolic service. Under the Mosaic system the cleansing of the
sanctuary, or the great Day of Atonement, occurred on the tenth day of the seventh Jewish
month (Leviticus 16:29-34), when the high priest, having made an atonement for all
Israel, and thus removed their sins from the sanctuary, came forth and blessed the people.
So it was believed that Christ, our great High Priest, would appear to purify the earth by
the destruction of sin and sinners, and to bless His waiting people with immortality. The
tenth day of the seventh month, the great Day of Atonement, the time of the cleansing of
the sanctuary, which in the year 1844 fell upon the twenty-second of October, was
regarded as the time of the Lord's coming. This was in harmony with the proofs already
presented that the 2300 days would terminate in the autumn, and the conclusion seemed
irresistible.” {GC 399.4}
“In 1844 our great High Priest entered the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary, to
begin the work of the investigative judgment. The cases of the righteous dead have
been passing in review before God. When that work shall be completed, judgment is
to be pronounced upon the living. How precious, how important are these solemn
moments! Each of us has a case pending in the court of heaven. We are individually to be
judged according to the deeds done in the body. In the typical service, when the work of
atonement was performed by the high priest in the most holy place of the earthly
sanctuary, the people were required to afflict their souls before God, and confess their
sins, that they might be atoned for and blotted out. Will any less be required of us in this
antitypical day of atonement, when Christ in the sanctuary above is pleading in behalf of
His people, and the final, irrevocable decision is to be pronounced upon every case?”
{1SM 125.1}

5. The feast of Tabernacles or Booths or The In gathering

This occurred on the 15th day of the seventh month of the Jewish calendar. All the first
born sons had to come before God from all parts of the Northern and Southern
Kingdoms and had to come with some offering to the Lord. They were forbidden to
appear empty handed for this was the harvesting season and there was plenty. It often
lasted 8 days the first and the eighth being Sabbaths. It served to remind the Israelites
of their journeyings in the wilderness as they headed for the Promised Land. It would
be a big religious as well as a social gathering. This prophetically meets its fulfillment
in the last proclamation of the everlasting gospel by the three angels of Revelation 14
where there will be a very great harvest of souls. The first fruits of Pentecost will be
repeated in a marvelous way for this will now be the harvest at the end of the season
or this earth's history. The midnight cry and the loud cry gathers God's people from
the fallen apostate Churches and finally from Babylon the great city. We are living in
the great gathering time of prophecy. Are we really ready to be gathered into God's

17
Kingdom? Are you? Are you gatherings souls with Christ? Luke 11:23.At this time
we are not to shun the gathering of ourselves for the worship of our Living God as is
the manner of some whose love have frozen from the cold. Hebrews 10:25-27.
“With those who lived at a distance from the tabernacle, more than a month of
every year must have been occupied in attendance upon the annual feasts. This
example of devotion to God should emphasize the importance of religious
worship and the necessity of subordinating our selfish, worldly interests to
those that are spiritual and eternal. We sustain a loss when we neglect the
privilege of associating together to strengthen and encourage one another in
the service of God. The truths of His word lose their vividness and importance in
our minds. Our hearts cease to be enlightened and aroused by the sanctifying
influence, and we decline in spirituality. In our intercourse as Christians we lose
much by lack of sympathy with one another. He who shuts himself up to himself
is not filling the position that God designed he should. We are all children of one
Father, dependent upon one another for happiness. The claims of God and of
humanity are upon us. It is the proper cultivation of the social elements of our
nature that brings us into sympathy with our brethren and affords us happiness in
our efforts to bless others. {PP 541.1}
“The Feast of Tabernacles was not only commemorative but typical. It not only
pointed back to the wilderness sojourn, but, as the feast of harvest, it celebrated the
ingathering of the fruits of the earth, and pointed forward to the great day of final
ingathering, when the Lord of the harvest shall send forth His reapers to gather the
tares together in bundles for the fire, and to gather the wheat into His garner. At
that time the wicked will all be destroyed. They will become "as though they had not
been." Obadiah 16. And every voice in the whole universe will unite in joyful praise to
God. Says the revelator, "Every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under
the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and
honor, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb
forever and ever." Revelation 5:13.” {PP 541.2}

“The people of Israel praised God at the Feast of Tabernacles, as they called to mind His
mercy in their deliverance from the bondage of Egypt and His tender care for them
during their pilgrim life in the wilderness. They rejoiced also in the consciousness of
pardon and acceptance, through the service of the Day of Atonement, just ended. But
when the ransomed of the Lord shall have been safely gathered into the heavenly
Canaan, forever delivered from the bondage of the curse, under which "the whole
creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now" (Romans 8:22), they will
rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. Christ's great work of atonement for
men will then have been completed, and their sins will have been forever blotted out.
....” {PP 542.1}

6. The Sabbatical year

Every sabbatical year all slaves were to be set free and debts were to be canceled.
The land would rest from cultivation and enjoy rest in its Sabbath. The Lord would
bless the Sixth year so much that they would have what to eat and spare for the

18
seventh, eight and ninth years. There would be a three year's harvest in one year. This
prophetically will begin its fulfillment at the beginning of the Millennium when the
earth will enjoy her Sabbath. Satan will be bound in this earth together with his
wicked angels all in chains of darkness with not even a single man to deceive. All
wicked men will be dead during the millennium and the saints will be participating in
their judgment in heaven. Revelation 20
The Sabbatical year and the Jubilee begin together, but the sabbatical year only
covers the Millennium. The jubilee extends into eternity.

7. The Jubilee
Ephesians 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the
purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory
Psalms 37:11, 25:13, 37:9, 37:22, Matthew 5:5, Micah 4:8.
The Jubilee came after seven sabbatical years. In the fiftieth year on the day of
Atonement was the Jubilee. On this day the trumpets would be blown to proclaim the
50th year a Jubilee. All property would revert to the original owners. Deuteronomy
25:13. Prophetically this will meet its fulfillment when that which Adam shall recover
through Christ Jesus all that he lost when he fell into sin. The sabbatical year is the
Millennium. The earth will have her Sabbaths during this time. The jubilee also starts
when the sabbatical year but now extends for eternity. At this time Satan will be
destroyed together with unrepentant sinners and his wicked angels. The earth will be
made new, a paradise that will never cease. We will be kings reigning with Christ
again. Then our salvation will be complete. The plan of salvation as taught in the
Bible will have been executed to the minutest detail. The Lord shall come to dwell
with us on the earth made new for eternity. AMEN.
“In the time of trouble we all fled from the cities and villages, but were pursued by the
wicked, who entered the houses of the saints with a sword. They raised the sword to kill
us, but it broke, and fell as powerless as a straw. Then we all cried day and night for
deliverance, and the cry came up before God. {CET 95.1}
The sun came up, and the moon stood still. The streams ceased to flow. Dark, heavy
clouds came up, and clashed against each other. But there was one clear place of settled
glory, whence came the voice of God like many waters, which shook the heavens and the
earth. The sky opened and shut, and was in commotion. The mountains shook like a reed
in the wind, and cast out ragged rocks all around. The sea boiled like a pot, and cast out
stones upon the land. {CET 95.2}
And as God spoke the day and the hour of Jesus' coming, and delivered the everlasting
covenant to His people, He spoke one sentence, and then paused, while the words were
rolling through the earth. The Israel of God stood with their eyes fixed upward, listening
to the words as they came from the mouth of Jehovah, and rolled through the earth like
peals of loudest thunder. It was awfully solemn. And at the end of every sentence the
saints shouted, "Glory! Alleluia" Their countenances were lighted up with the glory of
God; and they shone with the glory, as did the face of Moses when he came down from
Sinai. The wicked could not look on them for the glory. And when the never-ending

19
blessing was pronounced on those who had honored God in keeping His Sabbath holy,
there was a mighty shout of victory over the beast and over his image. {CET 95.3}
Then commenced the jubilee, when the land should rest. I saw the pious slave rise
in triumph and victory, and shake off the chains that bound him, while his wicked master
was in confusion, and knew not what to do; for the wicked could not understand the
words of the voice of God.” {CET 96.1}

In summary, the sanctuary message is nothing without Jesus Christ our Lord and
Saviour. Jesus Christ our Saviour and High Priest is the central theme of book of
Revelation. In Christ are all the promises of God.

Romans 15:8 “Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the
truth of God, to confirm the promises [made] unto the fathers.”
2 Corinthians 1:20 “For all the promises of God in him [are] yea, and in him Amen, unto
the glory of God by us.”

The sacrificial offerings, and the priesthood of the Jewish system, were instituted to
represent the death and mediatorial work of Christ. All those ceremonies had no meaning,
and no virtue, only as they related to Christ, who was Himself the foundation of, and
who brought into existence the entire system. The Lord had made known to Adam, Abel,
Seth, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, and the ancient worthies, especially Moses, that the
ceremonial system of sacrifices and the priesthood, of themselves, were not sufficient to
secure the salvation of one soul. . . . {LHU 24.7}

“In the life and death of Christ, a light flashes back upon the past, giving significance to
the whole Jewish economy, and making of the old and the new dispensations a complete
whole. Nothing that God has ordained in the plan of redemption can be dispensed
with. It is the working out of the divine will in the salvation of man.” {TMK 197.4}

“The solemn service of the sanctuary typified the grand truths that were to be
revealed through successive generations. The cloud of incense ascending with the
prayers of Israel represents His righteousness that alone can make the sinner's prayer
acceptable to God; the bleeding victim on the altar of sacrifice testified of a Redeemer to
come; and from the holy of holies the visible token of the divine presence shone forth.
Thus through age after age of darkness and apostasy, faith was kept alive in the hearts of
men until the time came for the advent of the promised Messiah. Jesus was the light of
His people,--the light of the world,--before He came to earth in the form of humanity. . . .
From Him has come every ray of heaven's brightness that has fallen upon the inhabitants
of the earth. In the plan of redemption, Christ is the Alpha and the Omega,--the First
and the Last.” {TMK 102.3}

“All through the pages of sacred history, where the dealings of God with His chosen
people are recorded, there are burning traces of the great I AM. . . . In all these
revelations of the divine presence, the glory of God was manifested through Christ. Not
alone at the Saviour's advent, but through all the ages after the fall and the promise of
redemption, "God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself." Christ was the

20
foundation and center of the sacrificial system in both the patriarchal and the Jewish
age. Since the sin of our first parents, there has been no direct communication between
God and man. The Father has given the world into the hands of Christ, that through His
mediatorial work He may redeem man, and vindicate the authority and holiness of the
law of God. All the communion between heaven and the fallen race has been through
Christ. It was the Son of God that gave to our first parents the promise of redemption. It
was He who revealed Himself to the patriarchs. Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and
Moses understood the gospel. They looked for salvation through man's Substitute and
Surety. . . . {TMK 102.2}
