Ross Ulbricht’s case has caught the attention of millions of people as supporters of

Ulbricht decry his sentence as unjust. The cause of Ulbricht’s ill fame is the creation and
gaining huge sales through his website Silk Road market. He claims that he had selfless
and public-spirited intentions behind the creation of the Silk Road and he never made it
for the purpose of making transactions that related to narcotics and weapons. The users
on the site were allowed to pay with the help of cryptocurrency. He actually made the
online marketplace that utilized Tor encryption and bitcoin which is legal and nothing
that should cause any issue. Several websites use cryptocurrency and encryption
methods and there is no harm in that. (Reiff,2021)

Ulbricht has been sentenced to two life imprisonment terms and an additional 40 years
with no possibility of parole. I think that Ulbricht played a major role in bringing the
nascent bitcoin and cryptocurrency into usage. The exchange of currency on the Silk
Road built a platform of the exchange of money. He never made the site for drug
exchange and he should not be held responsible for the behavior of buyers and sellers
on his site. The business of weapons and drugs still continues and the criminals are not
given such tough rulings as Ulbricht got. (Spaven,2014) I think that the court has taken
it way too far. Ulbricht was never a criminal as a person and he was never involved in
fraudulent activities. Supporters from all over the U.S. have raised millions of dollars for
his Defense case and the viewpoint of the masses should not be ignored.
