Dear Mrs. Veerasingham, Mr. Bascobert, Mr. Thompson, and Mrs. Levien,

We are deeply concerned with reports that your organization had a number of journalists, photographers,
or consultants embedded with Hamas in the days leading up to the unprecedented terror attack on Israel.

Early in the morning of October 7, 2023, Hamas indiscriminately launched thousands of rockets –
reportedly as many as 5,000 – from the Gaza Strip into Israel. In addition, Hamas mobilized 2,900
terrorists to conduct a massive ground assault in Israel. The violent terror attacks took the lives of an
estimated 1,200 Israelis and at least 32 American citizens.

It is our duty to protect the American people from violence at home and abroad. To aid in our
understanding of the events that transpired on October 7, we ask that you address these questions:
 Were you notified by your sources of the impending attack before Hamas announced the Al-Aqsa
Flood operation at 6:30am Israel Standard Time?
 Were you notified by your sources of the impending attack before the rocket barrage began?
 Were you notified by your sources of the impending attack before thousands of armed Hamas
terrorists infiltrated Israel?
 Were your sources aware of the targets, such as the music festival outside Re’im, that were being
targeted?
 Were your sources aware of the scope of the attack?
 Did you or your sources make American military or intelligence aware of the impending attack
before American citizens were murdered?
 When aware of plans to conduct terror operations, is it common practice for your organization to
alert American military or intelligence prior to attacks?
 Do you vet your sources for ties to terrorist organizations before recruiting them?

  Are you aware of any payments received by your sources from foreign sources?
 Were you or your sources aware of plans to kidnap hostages during the mobilization?

Please respond to this inquiry no later than November 30, 2023. It is vital we understand the degree to
which media organizations and their affiliates interact with terrorist, American, and allied organizations
during terror operations – especially when they ultimately cost American lives.
