Vacation Dangers
You might not connect the two, but did you know that going on vacation can be dangerous or
even horrible? If you go on vacation by car, did you know that it can be a dangerous way to
travel? People usually have accidents because they are very tired after driving for hours. This
was what happened to San Diego TV news reporter Michel Grendo. He told us about his
experience. When his late-night TV news show ended at midnight, he took his car and drove to
Miami Beach for a long weekend. Unfortunately, he never arrived. His car had a small accident
and he hit a tree. He called an ambulance because he broke his leg and spent his whole
vacation in the hospital!

Jenny’s Trip
Jenny enjoyed studying geography most at school. She liked history too, but because she
didn’t enjoy sports or science, she didn’t like going to school very much. When Jenny was only
17 years old, her parents made a decision. They decided to take her around the world on a boat
for a year. They decided to rent a sail boat with a kitchen and two comfortable beds. Jenny

was going to be the best lesson of her life. In the summer of 2015, Jenny and her family left
home and sailed around the world.

dad took her to historical places like Rome, where she learned about the Romans while sitting
in the Coliseum. And they went to Athens, where she learned all about the Greeks when they
visited the Acropolis. Every evening, her mom told fascinating stories from a history book and
talked about their day. Jenny also wrote an article about the interesting sounds and smells of
each historical location, then emailed it to her classmates. What did she miss? She said she
missed her home and her friends every day, but her school trip was the best experience!

Dear Jo,

we’re going to a big show. I’m so excited! Then the next day, we are flying to Los Angeles and
we’re going to stay there for a few days. This vacation is all a dream come true for me! I can’t
