Job Interview Tips

The preparation before the interview has a key role to successful attemp. The first
important step is to research the company very well through internet and any contacts
you have. You should make sure your LinkedIn profile is up-to-date, the most important
things you should fill: your qualifications, also your skills and interests. A very powerful
thing are the recommendations from your teachers, so if you include a few in your
profile it would be perfectly finished. Another thing you should pay attention to is your
social media. If you have something alarming is better to delete it in case your employer
search your name in Google. There is one more thing about the preparation that I want
to mention and that is the famous STAR technique that most interviewers use. It’s a
good idea to think of a stories from your life where you overcame a challenge which
demonstrates your skills.
Now, about the main point- the interview itself. You should always remember
that your appearance speaks how seriously you take the job, which means you should
dress to impress. My advice here is that you should buy a formal suit and shine your
shoes in order to accept you as a professionalist. When you meet the interviewer you
should make eye contact when you introduce yourself and also it is important to talk
with confidence. You should never forget to ask questions about everything you want to
know like the role you are taking, the team you are going to work with, the
organization’s goals.
After the interview, it comes the long waiting, so you should be very patient and
stay positive. Even if you are not employed you should keep you chin up and keep
searching. But if you get the position you should discuss the salary. It might be lower
than you expected, but don’t reject the offer immediately. Be creative by agreeing to
start at that amount on the basis if you achieve specific milestones, then you will be
entitled a certain salary bump.
With luck and following the tips above getting your dream job won’t be that hard.
Be persistent, patient and positive and I believe that soon everyone will find their place
in the world of adults and work.
