A simply supported prestressed beam is 6m long and 300 mm wide having a depth of 600mm. It is prestressed by horizontal
cable @eccentricity of 100mm. The prestressed force is 1000 kN. Neglect the self-weight and determine max compressive
stress in the beam at the transfer.

A pre-tensioned concrete member of section 200mm x 250mm contain tendons of area 500 sq.mm at the CG of the section. The
prestress in the tendon is 1000 MPa. Modular ratio is 10. Determine the stress in concrete.

A concrete beam of rectangular c/s of size 120mm x 200mm is prestressed by straight tendon to an effective
force of 150 kN at an eccentricity of 20 mm below the CG. Determine the stress at top and bottom fibre.

A prestressed concrete beam having size 200mm x 400mm is prestressed with a force of 800 kN at an
eccentricity of 100mm. The length of the beam is 6m. Determine the live load such that tension should be zero

A prestressed concrete beam having size 300mm x 600mm is provided with 10 wires of 7mm diameter at the
bottom with a distance of 100mm from the bottom most fibre. It is also provided with 3 wires of 7mm diameter
at the top fibre with a distance of 60mm from the top most fibre. The initial prestress is 1200 MPa. The loss is
15%. The live load is 12 kN/m for a span of 5m. Determine stresses developed in concrete at top and bottom
fibre.

A prestressed concrete beam with a rectangular section 120 mm wide by 300 mm deep supports a
uniformly distributed load of 4 kN/m, which includes the self-weight of the beam. The effective span of
the beam is 6 m. The beam is concentrically prestressed by a cable carrying a force of 180 kN. Locate the
