Network Traffic Encryption Capability
This feature provides AutoConfig support for securing the major communication routes
with SSL. These are: from desktop browser to web server (HTTPS); from web server to
JVM (AJPS); from JVM and other Oracle E-Business Suite/technology processes to
database (Advanced Security/encrypted SQL*Net). See Enabling TLS in Oracle E-
Business Suite Release 12.1, My Oracle Support Document 376700.1.

3.3.6. Release 12.1.3+
Installation
The Release 12.2 installation process has been significantly enhanced compared to prior
releases. These enhancements include the provision of application tier node services, the
use of native Oracle Database and Oracle Fusion Middleware installation tools to install
and configure these technology stack components, and support for integrating Oracle E-
Business Suite with existing Oracle Database 11g Release 2 and Oracle Fusion
Middleware 11g Release 1 homes. Additionally, Rapid Install now supports installing
Oracle E-Business Suite into a Grid Infrastructure (Oracle RAC/ASM) environment.
Online Patching
One of the key features of Release 12.2 is the switch to online patching. This uses the
Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.2 feature of edition-based redefinition to reduce
significantly the downtime traditionally needed for patching and related maintenance
activities.
An edition is a private environment in which you can redefine database objects. With
online patching, patches are applied to a separate edition while users are working with
the original edition. Subsequently, the system is cut over to make the patch edition the
new production edition. After the upgrade to Release 12.2, all future patches and
maintenance packs will be applied online, requiring only a short cutover period to make
the new functionality active.
Cloning
Release 12.2 simplifies and enhances the cloning process, for example when scaling
systems up by increasing the number of nodes. Also, support is now provided for
cloning the Fusion Middleware components of Oracle E-Business Suite.
Application Tier
A key change to the Oracle E-Business Suite technology stack is the adoption of the
Oracle WebLogic Server component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, in association with
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Technology Configuration 9
the Oracle HTTP Server component. Corresponding changes have been made to the
various application tier services.
Additionally, Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 has a second file system for the
application tier. The second file system facilitates the online patching functionality for
Oracle E-Business Suite patches and follows the best practices recommendations of
Oracle technologies for minimal patching disruption.
External Integrations
Release 12.2 includes enhancements to support integration with Oracle WebCenter
Portal and Oracle BPEL Process Manager using the new technology stack components
in the application tier.
Additionally, Oracle Application Framework now integrates with AutoVue Document
Print Services. For more information, see section 4.1.6.2.

Multiple Forms Sessions with Java Web Start
A user can now run multiple Forms sessions of the same Oracle E-Business Suite
environment concurrently on the client using Java Web Start. This usage is supported
with all supported web browsers on Windows and with Firefox on macOS.
A new user preference on the General Preferences page lets you control whether all
Forms-based form functions will be launched in the same Forms session or whether each
Forms-based form function will be launched in a new Forms session.
This feature is back-ported to Release 12.2.3+ as well as to Release 12.1.3+.
3.4. Internationalization
3.4.1. Release 12.1.1
Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.2 adds Lithuanian, Indonesian, and Ukrainian to
the list of supported languages. Space and single quote number group separators are
also supported in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.2. Users can also select their
start day of the week through a profile option. The Gantt chart and inline date picker
features support Thai and Hijrah calendars in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.2.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Internationalization 13
Space and single quote number group separator support
In addition to the decimal period (dot) and comma, Oracle E-Business Suite now
supports the space and single quote characters as number group separators. Users can
choose these new separators from the list of values in the Number Format field in the
Preferences page.
Gantt chart and inline (embedded) date pickers support Thai and Hijrah
calendars
Thai and Hijrah calendar support has been enhanced. All known Thai and Hijrah
calendar issues in Oracle Workflow notifications have been addressed, and Gantt charts
in the user interface and in Oracle XML Publisher reports now support Hijrah and Thai
calendars. In addition, inline (embedded) date pickers in the user interface now support
Hijrah and Thai calendars.
3.4.3. Release 12.1.3
This release improves Oracle E-Business Suite Multi-Lingual Support (MLS). With the
new Lightweight MLS feature, global customers can now enable new languages without
applying the corresponding NLS patches. Oracle iSetup MLS is improved to allow
moving language data across source and target systems with different installed sets of
languages. Oracle Application Framework export functionality has better Unicode
support. Also, the new rich UI capabilities in Oracle Application Framework have Bi-
Directional language (Arabic and Hebrew) support.
Lightweight MLS
The Lightweight MLS feature, new in Release 12.1.3, allows additional languages to be
enabled without the need to apply the corresponding NLS patches. In previous releases,
it was necessary to apply the relevant NLS patches before additional languages could be
used.
Lightweight MLS enables Oracle E-Business Suite to run multiple languages in the same
system, with the various languages being employed by different users as desired. Such a
system can simultaneously support a mixture of languages with full translation (NLS
patches applied) and languages without translation (Lightweight MLS, with no NLS
patches applied).
The Lightweight MLS feature provides the capability to enter and maintain language
data through an English user interface; for example, setup data or customer data such as
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Internationalization 14
item or item description. In addition, users can set up custom reports or templates and
then generate language reports with the language data. You can also move to a full
translation at any time by applying the NLS patch for the relevant language.

• Latin Uzbek
• Latvian
• Macedonian
• Malay
• Maltese
• Mexican Spanish
• Swahili
Note that no translations will be provided for these 13 languages, so moving to full
translation mode is not supported for these languages.
With these additions, Oracle E-Business Suite now supports a total of 55 languages.

with which the report was submitted.

4. Applications Technology
The key focus areas for Applications Technology in Release 12.2 of the Oracle E-
Business Suite are:
• Greater Business Insight: Focus on end user productivity improvements and
business insight.
• Adaptive Business Processes: A complete set of Web services housed in the
Integration repository and out-of-the-box embedding of the relevant Fusion
Middleware SOA components with the Oracle E-Business Suite will make
Release 12.2 truly an agile application business platform and enable Application
Integration Architecture (AIA).
• Superior Ownership Experience: Several major enhancements contribute to
enhancing the ownership experience for the Oracle E-Business Suite customers.
Record History
This feature, introduced in Release 12.1.1, was made available on the Release 12.0 line
in Release 12.0.6. Record history is now available for Oracle Application Framework
based pages. Record history allows a user to see data about a particular record, such as
who created the record and when, and who most recently updated the record and when.

Flexfield Reference Fields
Reference fields are now available for Oracle Application Framework based
applications. Reference fields are fields whose value is used to derive properties of
segments in a flexfield. A reference field in an Oracle Application Framework page is a
web bean which is used for evaluating one or more properties of a flexfield, such as
default segment value, value set, and context reference field for descriptive flexfields.
Whenever the value in the reference web bean changes, the page is refreshed with
changes to the corresponding flexfield properties.
This feature can be enabled at the customer site using Admin Personalization on existing
flexfields.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Application Framework 23
add, edit, delete, and view attachments to a business entity on the same page as the base
entity. This capability eliminates the need to navigate to the Add and View attachments
pages.
The pop-up component in Oracle Application Framework allows applications to display
content as a pop-up window on top of an Oracle Application Framework page. Detail
drilldown interactions can be minimized by using this pop-up capability.
Portlet Generator
Portlet Generator is a utility that statically converts a standalone Oracle Application
Framework region into a portlet. These portlets can be embedded in Oracle or third party
portal pages and Oracle WebCenter Portal pages. Portlet Generator complies with
WSRP 1.0 standards.
Portlet Generator offers a search UI that is part of the Functional Administrator
responsibility and lets you search for and register standalone regions as portlets.
Administrators can turn on a profile option that enables portletize links on standalone
regions embedded in pages. An administrator can browse through application pages and
use the portletize links to register the regions as portlets.
REST Interface
REST (REpresentational State Transfer) is an architectural style for distributed
hypermedia systems. REST is similar to SOAP-based (Simple Object Access Protocol)
web services, but with much less payload per message. REST is architecturally tailored
for frequent and lightweight handshakes between the browser and the application tier
server.
The Oracle Application Framework RESTful service interface allows products to expose
Application Module functionality (model) as services. These model services can then be
consumed by any rich internet application. This capability allows you to build custom
user interfaces in a technology of choice but still reusing existing code in your Oracle
Application Framework application.

The look-ahead LOV has been enhanced to show a UI indicator if look-ahead search has
been enabled on that particular field. The indicator takes the form of an angular
downward-facing arrow at the end of the LOV input field. Support for standard
accessibility mode and rendering in BiDi languages has also been added.
The Inline Attachment capability has now been extended to also support viewing,
updating, and deleting attachments inline within the Attachment Table item and adding
attachments inline within the Message Inline Attachment item. Support for rendering in
BiDi languages has also been added.
The pop-up component now allows form submits done on the pop-up component to
refresh the base page as well. With this capability, you can now build pop-ups that
modify data on the base page. Flexfields can now be rendered within a pop-up. Support
for standard and screen reader accessibility has also been added.
The Rich Content Container component has been enhanced to allow context-dependent,
runtime parameters to be passed to the rich component. Support for embedding external
URLs by specifying the content type as "Others" has also been added.
ADF Integration
It is now possible to link to Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) Release
11g applications deployed on an Oracle Fusion Middleware Release 11g container from
the Oracle E-Business Suite home page. Each ADF application will have an FND
Function of type ‘ADFX’ defined for it. If such a function is granted to a user, then
when the user logs in, the home page automatically builds a link to the external ADF
application. Note that ADF applications do not support some Oracle E-Business Suite
features such as flexfields.
For more information, see the FAQ for Integration of Oracle E-Business Suite and
Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) Applications, My Oracle Support
Document 1296491.1.
4.1.6. Release 12.2
Usability Improvements
The following usability improvements add on to the capabilities introduced in Release
12.1.3:
• The Home page now includes a tip at the top of the page displaying the number
of open notifications for the user.
• The Navigator slide-out or pull-down menu that displays the responsibility list
now includes a search input field that enhances the user’s ability to locate a
function quickly. After entering a minimum number of characters (currently set
at 3), the list of functions that matches the input string displays in place of the
responsibility list.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Application Framework 25
• A new processing indicator informs the user of ongoing processing for rich user
interactions. The indicator appears when you hover over inline attachment
Add/View and while pop-up content is being loaded. The indicator disappears
once the content is fully loaded.
• Pop-up enabled items are now enhanced to display a more distinctive pop-up
indicator as described in the table below:
AutoVue Integration
The OA Framework Attachments user interface now integrates with AutoVue Document
Print Services to allow printing of File type attachments. AutoVue Document Print
Services supports the printing of different file types used in an enterprise, from a single
server where the Auto Document Print Services is configured. This support eliminates
the overhead of having to install and configure additional software on various client and
server machines to view and print all the possible file types used in the enterprise.
Personalization Improvements
New improvements have been introduced into OA Personalization Framework:
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Application Framework 26
• An administrator can create a SQL-based read only view object through
Personalizations and bind it to new items on a page. This feature lets
administrators declaratively add new content from Oracle E-Business Suite
tables to an existing page.
• More item types and layout region types are available to be created and added to
a page through Personalizations. Additional layout types supported in this
release include header, classic tables, advanced tables, and message component
layout. Additional item types supported include submit button, reset button, and
rich text editor. These additions give administrators greater control over laying
out content.
• You can undo personalizations. The undo feature allows administrators to revert
the personalizations done in the current browser session if errors are
encountered while personalizing the page.
• You can copy a personalization. This capability allows administrators to rapidly
copy a personalization done at a specific level value, such as a responsibility,
function, or organization, to other levels such as different responsibilities or
different functions.
Note: While the application server for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 has been
upgraded to Oracle WebLogic Server in Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g, the Oracle
JDeveloper OA Extension continues to leverage an embedded Oracle Containers for
J2EE (OC4J) 10.1.3.5 server. Consequently, during development of customizations or
extensions, developers will run pages on the OC4J server. However, the deployed pages
will run on Oracle WebLogic Server.
iPad Certification
Oracle Application Framework applications are now certified to run on the iPad. Known
caveats are documented.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Application Framework 27
Enhanced Key Flexfield End Date Validation
The end date validation for a key flexfield segment value or code combination now
supports a custom end date defined on the flexfield, as well as with a system date.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Application Framework 28
Modal Pop-Up
Developers can now define a pop-up component as a modal pop-up. When a modal pop-
up renders, a user cannot interact with the base page until he or she closes the pop-up.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Application Framework 29
Dynamic Views
Previously OA Framework supported views only for tables under query regions. Now
rich table interactions such as column resizing and reordering persist across sessions by
means of user-level views that OA Framework supports for both classic and advanced
tables in all pages.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Application Framework 30
hold/press/press and hold, pan/drag, swipe/flick, spread, pinch, check mark/tick, and x-
mark/cross.
HTML5 Certification
You can now set a profile option to enable the uptake of the HTML5 standards doctype
into generated HTML source. If you uptake the HTML5 standard doctype, all OA
Framework-based pages can run in a browser’s preferred standards mode rather than in
quirks mode or compatibility mode.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Application Framework 31
Rich Table Interactions
Classic and advanced tables now support rich interactions that allow an end user to:
• Vertically scroll a table.
• Freeze a set of columns to remain in view while horizontally scrolling a table.
Classic and advanced tables now also provide touch support for row selection and
actions.
Simplified Page UI
Oracle E-Business Suite applications now boast a simplified layout that includes a new
icon-based menu and new UI components. Developers can now add the following new
UI components to help simplify their page layout:
• Infotile – a component that contains a tile-based header and a detailed region for
content. The implementation of multiple infotile components appear as an
enumeration of tiles, where each tile provides a brief description of its detailed
region. When a user selects a given tile, the detailed content pertaining to that
tile displays in the infotile content region
• Vertical subtab layout – a vertical display of tabs for a subtab layout.
• Hide/Show subtab layout – a Hide/Show region that contains a subtab layout.
In the collapsed mode, only the tabs’ icons display. The content region slides
out and displays related content when a user selects a tab.
Pop-Up Enhancements
Pop-ups are enhanced to now:
• Allow users to move the pop-up by dragging the pop-up header area.
• Allow administrators to set a new property on the pop-up component so that
the pop-up resizes automatically to fit its contents, eliminating the need for
scroll bars.
• Allow developers to use the same AM between a base page and a
parameterized pop-up.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Application Framework 32
Icon Support for Buttons
Developers can now add an icon to a button along with a prompt and specify the
position of the icon, such as left, right, top, or bottom.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Application Framework 33
• The ability to declaratively or programmatically specify more than four search
criteria in the Advanced Search panel
Splitter Component
The new panel splitter layout component allows developers to create a page that a user
can split into multiple resizable and collapsible regions.
Layered Layout
The new layered layout component allows developers to create a page containing
multiple layers rather than multiple subtabs. Each layer displays a title bar area that a
user can select to switch between layers. A user can select only one layer at a time, and
the content of a layer renders only when that layer is selected.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Application Framework 34
Support for Hint in Text Field, LOV Input Field, and Spin Box
You can now specify short hint text to appear in a text input field, a LOV input field, or
a spin box by declaratively setting the Placeholder Text property of the
messageTextInput, messageLovInput or messageSpinBox items.
Personalization Workbench
The new Personalization Workbench provides an alternative WYSIWYG
personalization page that allows administrators to reorder components or change
prompts in-place. The Personalization Workbench includes three panels:
• The Component palette allows you to declaratively add a new item or region to
an existing region of the page.
• The Personalize/Preview area displays the page in layers, where each layer
either represents the personalizations or provides a preview of the
personalizations made to the page at a specific personalization level.
• The Property palette displays and allows you to edit the admin-personalizable
properties of the component selected in the Personalize area.
You can drag and drop components from the Component palette to the Personalize area
to create components on the page. You can also drag and drop existing components to
reorder them on the page.
Themes
A theme determines the appearance of Oracle Application Framework pages, including
the background color, border color, and prompt properties. Administrators can create
themes using the Theme Editor, a lightweight UI-driven tool that enables easy
customization of the look and feel. In addition, Oracle E-Business Suite ships with
ready-to-use themes, similar to those provided by Oracle Cloud Applications.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Application Framework 35
Multi-Column Search in Look-Ahead List of Values
This enhancement allows developers to enable searching on all search-allowed columns
for the look-ahead LOV instead of just the first column. To enable this feature, a
developer sets the property "Look Ahead Multi Column Search Enabled" to True.
List Search
List Search enables users to quickly and easily retrieve the information they are looking
for. When List Search is enabled on a specific page or application, the Query Bean
panels (Simple, Advance, and Views) are merged into a two-panel layout, with the left
panel holding the search criteria and the right panel displaying the table with the
returned records.
To implement list search on a page, a developer must turn on the property 'Enable List
Search' for a specific query bean. Administrators can enable list search for the pages
where it has been implemented by setting the FND_ENABLE_LIST_SEARCH profile
option to 'True'.
List Search has been selectively implemented across Oracle E-Business Suite products
and product families, with an emphasis to improve user productivity on pages with high
user interaction on key business transactions. List Search is available for the following
products.

Masonry Layout
The Masonry Layout component enhances usability and helps achieve responsive design
for Oracle Application Framework pages. Using a Masonry Layout aids in rendering
page content in a viewport-friendly manner across different devices, providing a better
user experience.
Accordion Component
The new Accordion component enhances the usability of Oracle Application Framework
regions by providing a header that lets you toggle the Accordion body contents between
being shown or hidden. Users can show or hide product page regions with a mouse click
on the Accordion header, providing a better user experience.
Query By Example
You can now use Query by Example (QBE) on Advanced and Classic tables. Developers
can enable this feature on a table through design-time customization.

Tip Bean Enhancements
Enhancements to the Tip webBean include using a pop-up bean instead of a browser
window so that tips now show in pop-ups instead of a second browser window; support
for multiple messages; and the ability to control the Tip webBean position in List
Search.
You can optionally change back to displaying the key flexfield list of values in a modal
browser window as in previous releases by setting the
FND_ENABLE_OPEN_LOV_IN_POPUP profile to “False”.
Default Favorites
Administrators can now set default favorites in an Oracle E-Business Suite instance, and
end users can access those default favorites as recommended favorites. A new pop-up UI
shows a list of recommended and popular favorites to users, so that they can optionally

select some of those to add to their own Favorites list and then access those functions
directly from the home page.
Enhanced Graphs
Oracle Application Framework Graph components have been redesigned to render
graphs using a new technology by default instead of BI Beans. You can optionally
change back to BI Beans rendering as in previous releases by setting the FND: Enable
JET Graphs and Charts (FND_ENABLE_JET_GRAPH_CHART) profile option to
“None”.

Oracle Access Manager may be used in place of Oracle Single Sign-On (OSSO) for
those products that support it, or it may be used with OSSO to provide centralized
authentication across all the products in the Oracle E-Business Suite technology
stack. Customers can choose when to migrate to the next generation of Oracle Security
products.
Oracle E-Business Suite now provides support for Java Authentication and
Authorization Service (JAAS). This feature provides security compliance with JAAS
standard specifications.
JAAS for Oracle E-Business Suite is a lightweight login module that is designed to
deploy and run in any Java EE-compliant container. The login module is intended to be
either a starting point for customization, or an integration point, used to connect the
Oracle E-Business Suite with an external authentication service (for example, an
enterprise Single Sign-on system).

create, assign, search and display new task assignments in a single form saves time and
increases efficiency.
4.2.4. Release 12.1.3
With this release, the Oracle Application Object Library (AOL) is enhanced to support
the Oracle Database 11g case-sensitive database passwords feature for database user
authentication. In previous releases, Oracle E-Business Suite database passwords were
not case-sensitive. Support for case-sensitive database passwords provides for more
secure Oracle E-Business Suite schema passwords.
This feature is not enabled by default and its use is optional. To enable case-sensitive
database passwords, the database administrator (DBA) must perform the appropriate
setup steps.

FNDMENU Diagnostics Menu Security Enhancement
This enhancement removes the challenge for the APPS password when trying to access
submenus under the Diagnostics menu. Access to the Diagnostics submenus is
controlled by the ‘Utilities: Diagnostics’ profile option and standard E-Business Suite
function security. When the user selects a menu item, Oracle Application Object
Library checks whether the submenu items are granted to the current responsibility. If
the ‘Utilities: Diagnostics’ profile option is set to No and the end user has not been
granted the securing function for the menu item, an error message is displayed.
Additionally, this enhancement provides a read-only mode for the Examine menu, the
Item Properties window, and the Forms Personalization form.
New Schemes for Storing Concurrent Processing Log and Output Files
This feature was back-ported from Release 12.2.6. Refer to the full feature description
under the Release 12.2.6 section for this product.

processes, they will not keep concurrent processing from shutting down; that is, the
shutdown will occur in the specified interval.
Allowed Resources
This feature was back-ported from Release 12.2.9. This feature reduces the attack
surface of Oracle E-Business Suite by enabling the creation of an allowlist of resources -
JavaServer Pages (JSPs) and servlets - that are allowed access to your environment.
Allowed Redirects
This feature was back-ported from Release 12.2.9. This feature restricts redirects by
utilizing an allowlist mechanism, defining hosts with allowed access to a resource and
denying access to those that are not in the allowed listing.

Browser Cookie Scope
A browser session cookie contains sensitive data. For a more secure configuration, the
cookie should be restricted to being sent only to those hosts required to meet operational
and business needs. Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 allows the system
administrator to control which hosts the cookie is sent to.
There are three possible settings. With the 'host' setting, the cookie is scoped to the
originating host (server). This offers the greatest level of security. The 'domain' setting is
the default, and only allows the cookie to be sent to machines within the same domain as
the Oracle E-Business Suite server. This offers a good level of security, without
hampering functionality. Finally, the 'custom' setting is configurable by the system
administrator, and allows the security level to be customized for specific site
requirements.

• You can now specify any of the following additional advanced hash algorithms
as the hash mode: SHA256, SHA384, or SHA512.
• You can also now specify the type of advanced hash migration to perform.
o A full migration migrates all the records in the FND_USER table to
hash mode.
o A background migration migrates all the records in the FND_USER
table to the selected advanced hash mode in the background as a
concurrent program.
o A partial migration allows users with an earlier encryption mode to co-
exist with users creating new passwords with the selected advanced hash
mode. Users on the earlier encryption mode can still log in, but
subsequent password changes will switch these users to the selected
advanced hash mode.
Note: Partial migration is used to change between advanced hash modes
and should be done only after a full or background migration. If a partial
migration is performed first, then a full migration cannot be run in the
future.

Allowed Redirects
The Allowed Redirects feature (formerly also known as Approved Redirects) provides
support for an allowlist of trusted authorities, such as hosts and domains, to which
Oracle E-Business Suite is allowed to redirect web traffic. In addition, it prohibits
redirects from Oracle E-Business Suite to authorities that are not explicitly approved.
This configuration offers defense in depth against phishing attacks directed at Oracle E-
Business Suite users.
The Allowed Redirects is not enabled by default in Oracle E-Business Suite Release
12.2.4, but can be activated through a profile option.

Flexfields Forms Diagnostics Logging
Before Release 12.2.10, while diagnosing flexfields issues in Forms-based applications,
a user could set the GLOBAL.FND_FLEX_FNDSQF_DEBUG variable to DEBUG.
This process displayed the user_exit calls along with their parameter values in a dialog
window, requiring additional user input. With this enhancement in Release 12.2.10, the
user can have the debug information logged in a file. Choosing the ‘SPOOL’ option
will log the information in a file in the database directory defined for PL/SQL file I/O.
(See My Oracle Support Document 2525754.1, Using UTL_FILE_DIR or Database
Directories for PL/SQL File I/O in Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and
12.2.) Choosing the ‘DEBUG_SPOOL’ option will log the information to a file and
also display the dialog window.
Default Retention Period for Inactive Sessions and Sign-On Audit Data
Increased to 400 Days
The default value for purging inactive sessions in the concurrent program Purge
Inactive Sessions (FNDDLTMP) has been changed to 400 days. Also, the concurrent
program Purge Sign-On Audit Data (FNDSCPRG) now uses a retention period (400
days by default) as a parameter instead of a date to determine which records to purge.

Control Proxy User Selection by Organization for Internal and External
Users
Oracle E-Business Suite allows users to grant delegates the ability to act on their behalf
(act as proxy users for them) when performing specific Oracle E-Business Suite
functions. In this release, internal users select their proxies from a list of internal users
by default. In addition, a new security policy can be used to limit the list of potential
proxies for a user to the user's organization. Likewise, a new policy for external users
can be used to limit these users to selecting a proxy from a list including only those users
in their own organization.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Application Object Library 56
file_format_code/mime_type combination. When a user views an output file
with that file_format_code/mime_type combination, the file is streamed with
the specified file extension to the browser. The browser's association of an application
to the file extension will enable the correct program for viewing.
Forced Authentication
Similar to the session timeout behaviors, the Forced Authentication feature forces users
to reauthenticate with Oracle Access Manager (OAM) when ICX session timeout is
reached, regardless of whether OAM timeout has been reached. This feature requires
integration of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 or later with Oracle Access
Manager using Oracle E-Business Suite AccessGate 1.4 or later.
Disable and Enable Inactive FND Users Based on Security User Type
The Disable Inactive FND Users concurrent program and the Enable Inactive FND
Users concurrent program are enhanced to consider the security user type in
determining the users they run against.
The Disable Inactive FND Users concurrent program checks the value of a new profile
option called FND: Security User Type (FND_SEC_USER_TYPE) to determine which
user accounts should be inactivated if they have not logged in within a specified amount
of time and inactivates them. Conversely, the Enable Inactive FND Users concurrent
program allows for the re-activation of those user accounts that were initially
inactivated by the Disable Inactive FND Users concurrent program.

4.4.4. Release 12.0.6 (RUP6)
Diagnostics Enhancements
Oracle E-Business Suite Diagnostics has been enhanced to offer a new user interface for
managing and running your diagnostic tests. This new UI incorporates the User
Management security model based on RBAC. In addition, the reporting engine is now
integrated with Oracle XML Publisher.
4.4.5. Release 12.1.1
In Release 12.1.1, the Oracle Diagnostics Framework has been re-engineered to offer a
highly performing diagnostics engine, user-friendly access and reporting, and an
integrated application security model. To access the new Oracle Diagnostics Framework
one needs Application Diagnostics responsibility and a diagnostic role. To access Oracle
E-Business Suite diagnostic scripts use the new Oracle E-Business Suite Diagnostics
roles to execute and configure the diagnostic tests.
Performance Enhancements
The Oracle Diagnostics Framework engine now supports execution of long running tests
and large volume reports. Each request can be tracked through a unique request name.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Diagnostics Framework 62
Oracle XML Publisher Integration
The Oracle Diagnostics Framework reporting engine is rewritten to integrate with the
Oracle XML Publisher reporting engine. With this integration, users have the ability to
select from four reporting styles: PDF, RTF, HTML, or EXCEL. In addition to these
XML report formats, Users can write diagnostics tests that include tables and tree
structures in the standard XML reports. In addition, Oracle Diagnostics provides its own
built-in inline report format (default format). Note that only new tests written with the
new reporting library can take advantage of Oracle Publisher. All tests written prior to
the introduction of these formats are restricted to the HTML report format. Users will
still have the ability to save the report and/or upload reports to Oracle Support.
UI Enhancements
The user interface is enhanced to support Oracle XML Publisher integration, browser
look-and-feel compliance, RBAC uptake, and tracking of long running tests and large
volume reports.
Customization Support
Oracle Diagnostic Framework now makes it possible for users with custom
responsibilities to run diagnostic tests. Customers running applications that have been
cloned from a seeded Oracle application or customers running localizations can create a
custom role and grant that maps to an Oracle seeded application. Once this is done, the
system will recognize mapping between custom/ localized applications and seeded
applications. The responsibility LOV provided by the framework will start showing the
responsibilities of the user associated with custom applications.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Diagnostics Framework 63
Performance Profile Options
The Collection Threshold profile option allows system administrators to set the number
of reports nodes that must be kept in memory before being saved to the database. The
SQL Block Size profile option allows system administrators to set the number of records
that must be fetched from the database after a executing a query. This profile value is
used while displaying tabular data. Fetching all the data and keeping it in memory will
cause performance issues. The Worker Thread Count profile option allows system
administrators to increase the number of concurrent threads used by the executing engine
to execute a request.
4.4.6. Release 12.1.2
In-Context Diagnostics
In-context Diagnostics uses the inline pop-up feature in Oracle Application Framework
to enable a user to enter input for a diagnostic test, execute it, and view the result or
report, all from the current product page, without navigating to the Diagnostics screens
to run the test.

Certification with Oracle Database Unified Auditing
With this release, Oracle E-Business Suite is now certified with Oracle Database Unified
Auditing. Unified Auditing is the latest auditing feature for the Oracle Database that was
introduced with Oracle Database 12c. You can leverage Unified Auditing with Oracle E-
Business Suite Release 12.2.11 and Oracle Database 12c or 19c.
With this certification, Oracle E-Business Suite recommends enabling predefined
database Unified Auditing policies and a set of Oracle E-Business Suite specific Unified
Auditing policies. These recommendations are documented in My Oracle Support
Document 2777404.1, Enabling Unified Auditing in Oracle E-Business Suite Release
12.2 with Oracle Database Release 19c or 12c.

The properties file also includes two new Cluster Coordinator parameters. Endeca
Server uses these parameters to control how many snapshots of logs ZooKeeper should
keep in the data directory, and how often ZooKeeper should run an automatic log
cleanup:
Description Default
Cluster Coordinator
parameter
endeca-cluster- Specifies the number of log snapshots to retain Y
coordinator-auto- in the Cluster Coordinator data directory. This
purge-snap-retain- parameter is set to 3 by default.
count
endeca-cluster- Specifies the interval for automatic deletion of Y
coordinator-auto- log snapshots. This parameter is set to 1 hour
purge-interval by default. To disable the automatic deletion
of ZooKeeper's log snapshots, set the task
interval to 0 (zero) hours.
The automatic creation of this file simplifies the maintenance of data domains during
their backup and restoration (exporting and importing). You can make use of this
feature when importing a previously exported data domain because you no longer need
to keep track of a custom data domain profile.
• The endeca-cluster-coordinator-auto-purge-snap-retain-
count sets the number of snapshot logs to retain in the ZooKeeper data
directory, and is set to 3 by default.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle E-Business Suite Information Discovery 71
• The endeca-cluster-coordinator-auto-purge-interval sets
the logs cleaning task interval in hours, and is set to 1 by default. To disable the
automatic logs cleanup for ZooKeeper, set it to 0 (zero).
• The Endeca Server and Integrator Server are consolidated into one domain.
• This release uses one admin server with three managed servers for Endeca
Server, Studio, and Integrator.
• The installer size has been reduced due to consolidation and the removal of the
dependency on ADF runtime.
Diagnostics Enhancement
The get-logs command obtains WebLogic, Dgraph, and Cluster Coordinator
(ZooKeeper) log files and compresses them to a single zip file. A configuration file
specifies the settings needed by the command, such as the destination path for the zip
file and whether the installation is a single-node or clustered environment.
The Conversation Web Service enables sorting records that have geocode attribute
values by the distance from a specified reference point.

Concurrent ETL Enhancement
The concurrent ETL job now accurately reflects the status of the Integrator ETL job.
The concurrent job will block until the ETL job ends in a terminal state. It will capture
the run ID in the Oracle E-Business Suite schema as well.
The following validations and diagnostics have been added to provide users useful
messages to take corrective action:
• Clover credentials are not stored in EBS FND_VAULT - Request ends in error.
User advised to run post-setup step 3.
• Clover URL is not up - Request ends in error. User advised to verify if the
Clover URL mentioned in the profile is correct and to check if Clover is up.

4.7.3. Release 12.1.1
Integration Repository
Integration Repository is the central UI component for the SOA enablement of Oracle E-
Business Suite in Release 12.1.1. Integration Repository is enhanced to provide the
following features.
• Service Enablement UI
Integration Repository provides the UI for administrator’s action to generate and
deploy a Web service for a particular integration interface.
• Business Events in Integration Repository
Integration Repository in Release 12.1.1 includes the Business Events as the
annotated and registered integration interfaces. Now the Business Events can be
browsed in the Integration Repository and they can also be enabled for subscription
for integration purposes from the Integration Repository UI itself.
• Composite Services
Integration Repository also supports Composite Services in Release 12.1.1. A
composite service, also called business service, is atomic in nature, but orchestrates
the invocation of Oracle E-Business Suite’s out-of-the-box Web services in a
discrete business process. Integration Developers may design composite services,
which can be implemented by suitably combining multiple Oracle E-Business Suite
out-of-the-box Web services.
• Business Service Objects
A business service object implements standard Service Interfaces that provides
methods for accessing and operating on the business service object. Service
Interfaces provide a set of standard guidelines and implementation instructions for
developing services. The classes that implement these interfaces can be deployed as
Web services in the Integration Repository.
SOA Provider
There are two primary activities that happen either at the design time or run-time that
enable the SOA enablement of the Oracle E-Business Suite.
• In the deployment time the Service Generator exposes the integration interface from
the Integration Repository as Web services while the Service Deployer deploys the
Web service.
• At the run-time, the SOA Provider intercepts the SOAP Requests to Oracle E-
Business Suite services while honoring the authentication and authorization security
model and sends back an appropriate SOAP Response or Error Message.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle E-Business Suite Integrated SOA Gateway 74
Service Invocation Framework
Oracle E-Business Suite now provides the Service Invocation Framework (SIF). SIF
from within Oracle E-Business Suite is enabled though Oracle Workflow Java Business
Event System and is based on the Web Services Invocation Framework (WSIF) support
from Oracle Application Server. WSIF is a simple Java API for invoking Web services,
no matter how or where the services are provided.
With Oracle E-Business Suite SIF integration developers will be able to interact with
abstract representations of Web services through their WSDL descriptions instead of
working directly with the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) APIs, which is the
usual programming model regardless of how the Web service is implemented and
accessed.
Oracle E-Business Suite SIF implements WSIF standards to allow stub-less or
completely dynamic invocation of a Web service, based upon examination of the meta-
data about the Web service at runtime.
SOA Monitor
As the SOA Provider executes the incoming SOAP Requests for the Oracle E-Business
Suite services at the run-time, the SOA Monitor provides the capability to audit Web
service’s SOAP Request and the corresponding SOAP Response or Error Message. The
SOA Monitor provides the information about Web service requested for, the SOAP
Request and Response details, status of the Web service response, sender’s details etc.
4.7.4. Release 12.1.2
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle E-Business Suite Integrated SOA Gateway 75
custom Web services. This customization feature is enabled through the Integration
Repository Parser.
The Integration Repository Parser is a design-time tool that creates a loader file for the
Integration Repository, named with the file extension .ildt, by reading annotation
documentation and source code in a source file. You can upload the custom ildt file to
your Oracle E-Business Suite instance to view the complete set of both seeded and
custom integration endpoints for that instance in the Integration Repository.
The service enablement for the custom integration interfaces would be handled similar to
how Oracle seeded integration interfaces is supported.

Oracle WebLogic Server 11g with Oracle SOA Suite 11g Integration
Oracle E-Business Suite Integrated SOA Gateway now uses Oracle SOA Suite 11g
running on Oracle WebLogic Server 11g to provide greater capabilities and best-in-class
SOA infrastructure for Oracle E-Business Suite. In this integration, Oracle SOA Suite
provides the most current SOA technology such as Web services standards support,
protocols, and binding, while Oracle E-Business Suite Integrated SOA Gateway
provides the integration content, such as the integration interfaces, security model, and
guidelines for best practices.
• Service Provider - In this release, Oracle E-Business Suite Integrated SOA
Gateway continues to generate and deploy Oracle E-Business Suite Web
services into Oracle SOA Suite. However, at run time the SOAP requests and
responses from Web service clients and consumers will be executed by Oracle
SOA Suite.
• Service Invocation Framework - Previously, the Service Invocation
Framework (SIF) was based on the Web Services Invocation Framework
(WSIF) provided in Oracle Application Server 10g. In Release 12.2, SIF
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle E-Business Suite Integrated SOA Gateway 77
leverages the JAX-WS (Java API for XML-based Web Services) Dispatch from
Oracle WebLogic Server 11g.
• Service Administration
o Service Lifecycle Management - In this release, integration repository
administrators can perform the following additional service lifecycle
tasks in the interface details page of the Oracle Integration Repository:
Retire an active deployed service to ensure that current running
requests are completed while the service no longer accepts new
requests.
Activate a retired service.
Reset a service by clearing up the associated service artifact and
resetting the Web service status to its initial value (‘Not
Generated’).
o Service Monitor - The component known as SOA Monitor in earlier
releases is now called the Service Monitor. The Service Monitor fetches
data and statistics for each instance of a Web service request and
response from the underlying Oracle SOA Suite infrastructure to let you
monitor Oracle E-Business Suite Web services. You can use the Service
Monitor user interface in Oracle E-Business Suite to view the runtime
SOAP request and response data received and sent from Oracle SOA
Suite.
o Log Configuration - The Log Configuration user interface is simplified
to configure design-time and run-time logs and service auditing at
interface level.

• Diagnose setup issues on both Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle SOA Suite
instances.
• Perform design-time operations such as Generate, Deploy, Undeploy, Activate,
Retire, and Reset activities.
• Upgrade Oracle E-Business Suite Integrated SOA Gateway services from Oracle
E-Business Suite Release 12.1.X to Release 12.2.
• Perform post-clone steps, such as redeploying the services, on a Release 12.2
cloned environment.
Security Services
Security services are a subtype of Java interfaces that can now be displayed through the
Integration Repository. They are predefined, predeployed REST services from Oracle
Application Object Library. Unlike other interface types, security services are pregranted
to all users. There is no user action needed at design time.
At run time, security services help authenticate user credentials, initialize application
sessions with context information, and authorize access privileges for authenticated
users. They are mainly used for mobile applications.
This feature is back-ported to Release 12.1.3+.

4.7.11. Release 12.2.7
POST is the only supported HTTP method for concurrent program REST services.
Support for Open Interface Tables and Open Interface Views as REST
Services
Oracle E-Business Suite Integrated SOA Gateway now supports open interface tables
and open interface views as REST Services through the Integration Repository. This
feature lets you directly interact with data stored in the open interface tables or open
Interface views through the associated REST services.
The supported HTTP methods are determined by the direction of the selected interface.
For open interface tables with the Inbound direction, all four HTTP methods (GET,
POST, PUT, and DELETE) are supported. This means that you can read, insert, update,
and delete data contained in the selected open interface table. For open interface tables
with the Outbound direction and for open interface views, you can read or select records
from the selected interface through the GET method only.
Note that an open interface is a combination of a concurrent program and associated
open interface tables. The corresponding concurrent program can be deployed as a
REST service operation with the POST method only.
This feature is back-ported to Release 12.1.3+.

REST Service Monitoring, Logging, and Related UI Enhancements
With these enhancements in the Service Monitor and logging configuration UI pages,
Oracle E-Business Suite Integrated SOA Gateway now extends the existing SOAP
service monitoring and logging support to REST services. In addition to SOAP
messages, all inbound REST messages can be tracked and monitored in the Service
Monitor where you can view the status of each REST request, request and response
details, and log messages if captured. With the enhanced Log & Audit Setup Details
page, you can configure design-time and runtime logs for the interfaces that can be
exposed as REST services and enable REST service auditing at the interface level.
Additionally, you can purge monitored REST messages, logs, and audit records that
have been collected through the Service Monitor for a period of time.

4.9.1. Overview
With the proliferation of enterprise information and the focus on security and
governance, the enterprise search market has become a key area of focus for companies
like Oracle.
Surveys have shown notable increases in overall information-related task time for
workers in academic, corporate, government, and health-care enterprises. The overall
portion of task time spent on information gathering increased on average by almost 1
hour per week. Hence the need for a complete and pervasive fast and accurate search
experience across Oracle E-Business Suite is high. The key differentiators between
enterprise search and consumer search are twofold:
• Focus on security: Users should only see search results that they have access to
or in other words confidential information is restricted to those with
permissions. Appropriate governance and audit mechanisms need to be inbuilt.
• Focus on search across multiple application modules.
Oracle E-Business Suite provides a seamless integration between Oracle E-Business
Suite data and Oracle Secure Enterprise Search (SES) engine so that users can search
across multiple Oracle E-Business Suite modules seamlessly and in a secured fashion.
A Web-based tool, Search Modeler is provided to customers as an easy-to-use
framework for application developers and enterprise data modelers to define searchable
objects and to provide full text search capability to the application users.
Key capabilities:
• Full-text search capability on Oracle E-Business Suite data to search structured
and unstructured data. Attachments are examples of unstructured data.
• Common infrastructure for Oracle E-Business Suite to crawl and index data into
the Oracle SES database.
• Search Modeler – a Web-based tool to create, modify and deploy searchable
business objects including Oracle E-Business Suite and custom applications.
• Security – object level access and data level access control
• Search refinement – refine the search criteria through narrow or expand options
and filtering options.
• Saved Search – Users can book mark and save the search for easy access and to
eliminate any navigation.
4.9.2. Release 12.0.6 (RUP6)
Search Modeler
This feature, introduced in Release 12.1.1, was made available on the Release 12.0 line
in Release 12.0.6. The Search Modeler is a lightweight browser-based design tool used
to create, modify and deploy searchable business objects without the need for extensive

programming skills or development tools. This tool is meant to help data modelers to
rapidly create searchable business objects within Oracle E-Business Suite and custom
modules.
Search Modeler
The Search Modeler is a lightweight browser-based design tool used to create, modify
and deploy searchable business objects without the need for extensive programming
skills or development tools. This tool is meant to help data modelers to rapidly create
searchable business objects within Oracle E-Business Suite and custom modules.
Search Modeler uses the Oracle Application Object Library (AOL) metadata extensively
to reduce the time spent in designing searchable objects. It is capable of defaulting
relationships between entities, and provides validation through diagnostics. The tool
resides in a separate OC4J 10.1.3.3 home. It authenticates users against the connected
Oracle E-Business Suite instance.
UI Improvements
Information workers need to access relevant information quickly in order to make
decisions or complete transactions. Search results now include a relevance ranking to
inform users how relevant the search result is to their search criteria. This feature lets
users quickly access the most relevant information or transaction.
Oracle E-Business Suite Secure Enterprise Search allows users to display search results
in two different styles for enhanced readability, instead of the previous concatenated

display. The Classical style renders the search results in an Internet-style display. The
Tabular style renders the search results in a table or spreadsheet-like format.
Additionally, search results are now displayed with appropriate user-friendly captions to
enhance the user experience.
Users also now have the capability to sort the search results displayed in the current page
according to their needs.

Responsive Design
Mobility and responsive design are built into Oracle Enterprise Command Center
Framework, so all dashboards will automatically adjust their layout to better fit a
desktop or mobile device form factor.
Advanced Search
• Wildcard Search: You can use the search operators (*) or (%) to perform a
wildcard search, in which the search results matches any text that contains the
characters between the search operators. You can also use the question mark (?)
as a wildcard to perform a single (one and only one) character search.
• Phrase Search: You can search for an exact sequence of terms by enclosing
your search terms in quotation marks (“ ”).
• Boolean and Expression Search: You can use various operators such as
AND, NOT, and OR to build complex expressions to narrow the search results.
Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework provides the following new user
interface visualization components:
• Bubble/Scatter Chart: Scatter charts display data points, with each point
representing a dimension value. Points can also be aggregated into bins in a
binned scatterplot, or measured against a third metric and displayed as scaled
bubbles in a bubble chart. These charts are useful for showing correlations
between metrics.
• Line Chart: Line charts show one or more metric values aggregated across a
series dimension. They are useful for showing changes or trends.
• Reference Line in Chart: You can now display a reference line on a chart
based on a predefined metric.

User Interface Enhancements
• Attribute groups are now available to enhance data categorization and grouping
in the Available Refinements and Results Table.
Note that in this release, Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework does not use
the Oracle E-Business Suite number format and currency format to format numbers and
currency amounts. Instead, it displays numbers and currency amounts unformatted.
Page Layout
Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework provides the following page layouts:
• Side Navigation (default): In this default page layout, the side navigation panel
that contains the search, selected refinement, and available refinements
components is always displayed on the page.
• Collapsed Side Navigation: In this page layout, the side navigation panel is
collapsed by default and can be expanded by clicking the “Toggle Navigation
Panel” icon. When the side navigation panel is collapsed, the Selected
Refinements component is displayed as a floating icon on the page. When the
side navigation panel is expanded, this icon no longer appears.
• No Side Navigation: This page layout lets you display a page without the side
navigation panel. This layout is best suited for a landing page or home page that
will not have any navigation components. However, the Selected Refinements
component is displayed as a floating icon after any filter is applied.
• Look and Feel: The search box can now appear at the page level instead of in
the side navigation panel. A new look and feel gives users a better interface with
easy-to-read search term highlighting and keyboard navigation for the auto-
suggestion list.
• Search Attribute: Business users can select a context under which they want to
perform their search. The context can be configured to refer to any attribute in
the system. Inline search within the context attribute is also supported.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework 95
For example, if a user is using Oracle iProcurement and would like to shop for a
laptop, the user can select the Computer category in the Search drop-down
menu. After the user enters a search for a laptop, a specific list appears that
applies to the selected category.
• Search Behavior: If a user selects a search attribute, additional controls let the
user choose how to display the remaining values of context attributes based on
the current filter state on the page.
Users can also remove applied filters from the search box by changing their
selection from the attribute list.
• Hyperlink: A user can now search and navigate to another page and apply the
search term as a filter on the destination page.
• Condition: The search box supports applying a data set condition on the
suggestion list results.
• Delete a Tab: Administrators can delete a tab if the component contains more
than two tabs.
• Drag and Drop Components: Administrators can drag and drop page
components inside or outside the tab.
Grid Enhancements
Grid enhancements include the following:
• Runtime Sorting: Business users can sort by any attribute displayed at runtime.
• Pagination Control and Selection: Pagination control and record selection can
be removed from a grid to support additional business use cases for the grid.
• Text Formatting: You can change the text style, alignment, size, and color.

Compare Column Headers
When you compare records in a results table or grid, the column headers in the compare
pop-up can now include tokens to display a dynamic title for each record based on an
attribute value.
Relevance Ranking
For record search only, you can control the order of the search results based on the
record score in the data set. This ranking is supported only in results tables and grids.
Data is sorted by “Score” by default. You can override this default order or add more
sort options when you configure a dashboard.
Push Model
With the push model, the client can push data or metadata to Oracle Enterprise
Command Center Framework in a compact JSON format. Using this feature, the client
extracts the data from different sources and pushes it to Oracle Enterprise Command
Center Framework.
Upgrade
You can upgrade from Release 12.2 V2 to Release 12.2 V3 without needing to reinstall
Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework through the quick install package. The
upgrade will preserve configurations and data sets already created as well as any page
and metadata extensions you have implemented.
Cloning
You can now use cloning to back up and restore a snapshot of a working Oracle
Enterprise Command Center Framework instance. Cloning can be used to save backups,
as part of an upgrade procedure, or to add new nodes to increase high availability.
Saved Search
This feature enables users to save the filters applied on a page and reapply those filters
later. For example, you can choose to save your frequently applied filters or preferred
filters. Saved searches appear in the list of search suggestions. There are three types of
saved searches:
• Public Saved Searches: Administrators can create public saved searches, which
can be accessed by all users.
• Private Saved Searches: Both administrators and business users can create
private saved searches, which can be accessed only by the user who created
them.

menu can include an option to export data from the component to a comma-separated
values (CSV) file.
About ECC
The About feature provides administrators information about the current Oracle
Enterprise Command Center version, JET version, Solr version, application versions,
configuration properties, and documentation and training links.

Upgrade
You can upgrade from Release 12.2 V2 and Release 12.2 V3 to Release 12.2 V4 without
needing to reinstall Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework through the quick
install package. The upgrade will preserve configurations and data sets already created
as well as any page and metadata extensions you have implemented.
Activity Audit
A new dashboard in Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework gives full insight
into the use of the Enterprise Command Center dashboards. It allows business analysts
and administrators to know whether dashboards are being used or not, who uses them,
which dashboards are used most, and at what times. The new dashboard also helps
generate valuable new insights into user searches.
User Preferences
User preferences improve business user usability as each user can change many run-time
options in the dashboard. These changes are also preserved for future access to the same
dashboard by that user.
Cascading Breadcrumb
The Cascading Breadcrumb feature displays the current cascaded level and associated
value in a chart or tag cloud. This feature automatically matches the navigation hierarchy
through the displayed data to give the user full context.
Chart Maximization
Chart maximization lets users control the chart height at runtime. This feature provides
better readability and supports visibility for more dimensions and scaled representation
of values.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework 100
Chart Export
Users can now export a chart as an image. Additionally, users can export a CSV file
capturing data represented in a chart in a tabular format.
Export
Export is now available from charts, tag clouds, and aggregate tables, in addition to the
previously introduced export capabilities in results tables and grids.
Negative Refinements
Users can now apply negative refinement or exclude attribute values directly from the
available refinements components.
Aggregate Grid
An aggregate grid displays aggregated values in a flexible layout template. Aggregate
grids allow grouping data based on different attributes to provide more accurate views of
the data, thus acting as a one-stop shop for deriving deep insights from your data.

About ECC - Monitoring
The About ECC feature includes a new tab for Oracle Enterprise Command Center
Framework monitoring. The monitoring tab lets administrators assess Enterprise
Command Center health, control the cache, and gain quick access to Enterprise
Command Center logs.
Diagrams
Business users need to trace activities in the enterprise pertaining to any business
transaction, partner, or entity. Often, in a complex operating environment, multiple
actors are involved in the business outcome. Someone reacting to a product recall,
customer complaint, missing payment, quality issues, or similar issues may need to find
the root cause of a problem that started in an upstream process far removed from where
the problem was reported. Network diagrams in Oracle Enterprise Command Center
Framework are an innovative solution for this challenging problem.
• Allow exploration of a business process from any stage of the relationship, with
the ability to explore from the beginning, end, or any other level in between.
• Let users explore multiple distinct business processes (diagrams) at once, with
the option to paginate the display per process.
• Allow change of focus dynamically from the starting business entity to any other
entity displayed in the diagram by making that entity the starting point of a new
diagram.
• Drill back from any node into related business transactions in the ERP and CRM
applications and take immediate action.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework 102
Descriptive Flexfield Value Set Description
Previously, descriptive flexfield attributes were displayed in Enterprise Command
Center dashboards with the descriptive flexfield’s code. In Release 12.2 V6 release, the
value set description is displayed on dashboards instead of the code, improving
readability when business users explore and filter descriptive flexfield data.
Waterfall Charts
Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework has introduced a new chart type that
visualizes the cumulative effect of sequential or categorical positive and negative values
applied to the starting value.
Condition Enhancements
Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework now supports compound conditions
with several levels of nesting. You can specify your conditions with ease and clarity in a
redesigned configuration UI.
Value Defaulting
If a NULL value is to be shown to users in a dashboard, you can now specify a context-
sensitive default value such as “Unassigned” to serve as a user-friendly label to be
displayed in the UI. Users can use this label for refinements as well as visualizations.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework 103
Search Suggestion Enhancement
You can reduce clutter in search suggestions by removing unwanted or code-based
attributes from the list as functionally appropriate.
In this release, network diagrams now provide the following key capabilities for users:
• Explore multiple distinct business processes (diagrams) in one flow and choose
to paginate the information displayed by process, with a preview for each page.
• Maintain the history of previous filters and interaction with the network.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework 104
Faster Discovery through Applied Filters
Users can now change the applied filters on a dashboard with fewer clicks from the
selected refinements, with the same capabilities from available refinements.
• Display a network diagram in a tabular format with a hierarchy which you can
expand and collapse.
• Gray out nodes that are not part of the highlight path that contributes to the
selected node.
• Use a traversal filter as a group of filters that use associations to get other nodes
related to that filter, without affecting the primary filter that has been applied to
shape the diagram flow.
• Focus on the current node and display only paths that contribute to that node
while hiding other paths not related to this node.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework 105
the dashboard. The drawer serves as an alternative to using a pop-up to provide more
space for displaying content.
Pivot View
Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework has introduced the Pivot view as an
alternative view of the aggregated table to calculate, summarize, and analyze data at
different group levels. The Pivot view allows users to see comparisons, patterns, and
trends in the data.
Timeline View
Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework has introduced the Timeline view as an
alternative view of the results table. The view of time-related events over time allows
users to analyze any patterns appearing over any selected periods and see how events are
distributed across a period.
Date Transformation
Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework has introduced new date transformation
capabilities to make working with dates more efficient. Oracle Enterprise Command
Center Framework now transforms date and date/time data and creates a new subset of
date/time values (Year, Quarter-Year, Month-Year, Quarter, and Month). You can use
these values further or build more accurate visualizations with them.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework 106
Enhanced Network Diagrams
The hierarchical connect-by-like queries and the display of these queries as a vertical
network diagram, such as a Human Resources hierarchy, were introduced in V8. In this
release, Enterprise Command Center extends the use of the traversal filter to hierarchical
connect-by-like queries by adding the option to add more filters to be applied while
traversing the hierarchical tree.
Inline View
Enterprise Command Center dashboards can now include an inline view of a page-less
component inside a component, allowing users to get more detailed insight without
navigating away from the dashboard.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework 107
Business users can see attribute labels dynamically changing based on the page context.
Redwood Theme
Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework has adopted the new Redwood theme.
This theme includes a new color palette, font, and modernized UI.
• Results Table: The enhanced runtime option empowers users to manage the
attributes used in the configuration according to their business needs. Users can
hide, show, or reorder the attributes of the results table. Any changes made
while managing the attributes are stored in the user preferences.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework 108
Trellis Chart
The new trellis chart type visualizes a series of subcharts using the same scale and axes.
A trellis chart uses three or four dimensions, which are used to visualize complex
relationships and comparisons.
Percentage Chart
The percent chart now offers an alternative visualization of a stacked bar chart in which
the relative percentage of multiple data series is stacked in bars. The total of each bar
always equals 100%. The percent chart is a hybrid between a comparison and a
composition chart.
Pivot Sub-summary
The Pivot feature now supports adding a sub-summary at the pivot row level. Business
users can show or hide the sub-summary using runtime options.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework 109
Search Within for Diagrams
Business users can now investigate a subset of the larger network diagram by applying a
search within the displayed network.
Badges
The color pinning feature originally introduced for charts in V6 is extended and
modernized in other detailed dashboard components. Color pinning applies badge-style
conditional formatting on categorical attributes. Numerical attributes may also support
conditional formatting by highlighting the attribute value using specific colors. The
badges highlight certain values of an attribute to draw business users' attention to them.
Personalization Scratchpad
The Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework OA scratchpad is a predefined
Oracle Application Framework page with a tab structure. This scratchpad page allows
administrators to personalize role-oriented or process-oriented access to cross-
departmental dashboards.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework 110
Setting Search Scope
Users can set the search scope when performing searches.
Joining Datasets
Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework now allows joining between datasets
and configuring a component based on this join. You can join two datasets using the join
operators with an optional join condition.

Categorized Searching
Because multiple queries can be posted to the system, there is a need to simplify
querying. W3H will provide a simple user interface where the queries will be
categorized. Some possible categories are “User based queries” and “Role based
queries.” Frequently asked queries can be prominently displayed.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle User Management (UMX) 120
user have?” the system will also provide information about WHY that role was assigned
to that user and HOW the role was assigned to that user.
Reports
W3H will allow information to be saved in various formats. The supported formats will
be Microsoft Word document (DOC) and Adobe Acrobat PDF. Reports will be
generated using XML Publisher.
Since the information required can be huge, running the query and preparing the report
can take time and cause browser timeout. Therefore, W3H reports will be generated
using Concurrent Programs.
Quick Find
Developers, and sometimes system administrators, can execute queries that might not
require extensive output. For example, “Does this user have access to the System
Administration role?” W3H will provide a quick find feature in each query output so
that the user can filter the output further. Please refer to the UI section for more
information.
Snapshot
Auditors would like to know what happened in a specified period. For example, “Did
this user have access to the SALARY object during appraisal time?” The system will
allow the user to enter the date range for each type of query.

Deferring Worklist Response Processing
To increase performance, a workflow administrator can optionally configure Oracle
Workflow to defer the processing of notification responses submitted through the
worklist. In this case, control is returned to a user immediately after the user submits a
response, while the subsequent activities in the workflow are executed at a later time.
You can choose to defer notification response processing for all item types or only for
specified item types. Use the Administration tab in the Oracle Workflow administrator
Web pages to configure the item types for which you want to defer response processing.
Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Workflow 129
within the Administrator Monitor and the Self-Service Monitor. The sizes you
can select are Small, Medium, or Large.
• You can now use the special message attribute #RELATED_HISTORY to
include the action history of another notification within response-required
notifications as well as within FYI notifications. Additionally, you can now
include the action history of a related notification in a different work item.
• A user who receives a request for more information can now transfer that
request to another user and include a comment to that user. Additionally, a
workflow administrator managing notifications through the Notifications
administrator page can now transfer a request for more information from the
user who received the request to another user, or answer the request on behalf of
the user who received the request.
• If a notification is reassigned, the sent date displayed in the notification for the
new recipient now shows the date of the reassignment – that is, the date when
this recipient first received the notification – rather than the date the notification
was sent to the original recipient. Similarly, the sent date displayed in a request
for more information now shows the date when the request was made, rather
than the sent date of the original notification.
• The Notification Details page now displays a brief status at the top of the page
indicating if another user has delegated or transferred the notification to the
current recipient, if another user has requested or provided more information, or
if another user transferred a request for more information to the current
recipient. Any comment provided by the other user is displayed as well.

Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2 Release Content Document Oracle Workflow 132
• The behavior of the MAILTEXT, MAILATTH, MAILHTM2, and MAILHTML
notification preferences is changed to provide a choice between preferences that
include attachments and preferences that do not include any attachments. Now,
only the MAILATTH and MAILHTML preferences support attachments. The
MAILTEXT and MAILHTM2 preferences no longer support any attachments,
including the Notification Detail Link attachment, workflow attachments
defined as 'Content-Attached' message attributes, and Oracle E-Business Suite
attachments specified in the #ATTACHMENTS attribute. This change lets users
choose whether to receive the attachments in e-mail for easy access, or to save
space in their e-mail accounts by excluding the attachments from e-mail
notifications and accessing the attachment content only by logging in to Oracle
E-Business Suite.
• A new role named WF_EXTERNAL_ROLE_NOEBS_ACCESS lets you
identify external users who do not have access to your Oracle E-Business Suite
instance and should not receive the link to the notification in the Notification
Details page as an attachment. If you assign this role to a user, the Notification
Details link is not attached to e-mail notifications, even if the user selects a
notification preference that includes attachments. For example, if you send e-
mail notifications to suppliers or customers outside your own enterprise, you can
assign them the WF_EXTERNAL_ROLE_NOEBS_ACCESS role so that they
do not receive the Notification Details link.
