A local study conducted by Hernandez (2019), stated that among students, language anxiety has

been widely researched because of its effect on the language acquisition and the learner’s academic
performance. Acknowledging the existence of it led to various studies concerning second language
acquisition, which in this case is English. However, while language anxiety has been a major interest
of academics in the field of language learning, few researchers in the Philippines addressed the
problem specifically in the experiences of English Language learners in the current K-12 curriculum.
