What is the maximum storage capacity of the PS5?

The PS5 has an internal SSD with a storage capacity of 825GB. However, only
667.2GB of it is usable for the game. If you need more storage, you can use an external
hard drive or SSD with a minimum capacity of 250GB. The maximum storage capacity
of an external hard drive or SSD that the PS5 supports is 8TB.

Please note that if you want to use an internal SSD, it must meet certain specifications,
such as the PCIe Gen4 x4 M.2 NVMe SSD interface, 250GB - 4TB capacity, and single
or double-sided heatsink cooling structure. The maximum capacity of an internal SSD
that the PS5 supports is 4TB.

How do I connect an external hard drive to a PS5?

To connect an external hard drive to PS5, follow these steps:

1. Connect your external hard drive to a USB port on the back of your
PS5 console. The USB port on the front is only rated for USB 2.0, so
it won’t work for PS5 external storage.
2. Go to Settings > Storage.
3. Select USB Extended Storage > Format as USB Extended Storage 3.
4. Once the drive is formatted, you can use it to store and play games
on your PS5.

Please note that your external hard drive must meet certain requirements
such as USB 3.0 or later, between 250GB and 8TB capacity, and formatted
in exFAT or FAT32 file system. If you’re using the same external hard drive
on your PS5 that you used on your PS4, you can simply plug it in and
follow the prompts.
