Quick Guide -- Download the program into Z80

This guide introduce you how to use MTS-80A to download the assembled

program into Z80 chip. Please refer to [Z80 Assembling.pdf] for the procedure of

how to assemble the program.

Step 1: Power on the MTS-80A.

Step 2: Using the RS-232 cable provided from K&H to connect RS-232 cable

between the PC (9-pin COM port) and the MTS-80A (25-pin RS232 port)

Step 3: Launch Hyper Terminal (Start \ All Programs \ Accessories \ Communications \

Hyper Terminal)

Step 4: Enter a name and choose an icon for COM port connection
Step 5: Select a proper COM port matching the number of the COM port in your PC

Step 6: Select a proper COM port matching the number of the COM port in your PC
Step 7: Press [RESET] button on MTS-80A and then press any key among [0] ~ [F] as

soon as possible. The Z80 welcome message and the command prompt will

be shown on the HyperTerminal, as shown below.

Note: If you can not see the welcome message and command message, please

check that:

(1) The serial cable is connected to both PC and MTS-80A firmly.

(2) The Baud Rate setup at JP2 of MTS-80A is consist to the baud rate

setup in COM port setup window. For example, 19200 bps.


Step 8: To load the hex file to the memory, enter [L] and “ENTER”

Hint: You can input [H] and [ENTER] from command prompt for command help.

Step 9: In the Menu bar, select [Transfer/Send Text File], and browse the *.hex file.
Step 10: For example, browse 80AD0.hex.

Step 11: To execute the program, use GO command by input [G] and [ENTER].
Step 12: The program is now executed. When adjusting the potential meter,

the corresponding output will be shown on LED1~LED8.
