DEGREE PATHWAYS
START UNIVERSITY HERE
Did you know that you can choose to start your
bachelor’s degree at NBCC and then apply to transfer
your credits to another school to complete it? That’s a
university transfer.

NBCC has multiple pathway agreements with

universities across New Brunswick, Canada and all
around the world that allow your NBCC diploma or
certificate to be credited for up to two years of a
four-year university degree.

You can benefit from smaller class sizes, more hands-on

learning, and work practicums, and save over $8,500 by
starting your degree at NBCC. For more information on

UPGRADING
Interested in a specific program, but missing an

GRADE 11 STUDENTS
Why wait when you can skip the line and secure your
spot, on your timeline? Take the first step and apply
early. We mean a whole year early. Grade 11 students
will be eligible to apply for Fall 2025 on April 1, 2024.

ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS
The New Brunswick Community College Foundation Inc.
offers a $1,000 scholarship per New Brunswick public
high school for high school students graduating and
accepted (or on a waitlist) in the current year at any
NBCC campus. Apply by May 27, 2024 to be considered
for the scholarship. For more information, visit

There’s no age limit on education. Just ask the thousands

ALUMNI STORY
Alex Madsen
At the age of 46, Alex Madsen “had to move forward;
couldn’t stay the same.” Seeking greater financial
security for his family, the Moncton musician over­
came all his fears and self-doubt and enrolled in the
plumbing program at NBCC, proving it’s never too late
for a change.
Now he’s sharing his experience in a song designed to
show others they can also make a change.
“Here I was, this old, beat-up 46-year-old guy who’d
been out on the road his whole life,” he said. “My
friends thought I was crazy, but I just said, I gotta
do this. I decided to become a plumber, and by June
of the following year, I was at work as a Block 1
plumber.”
When Madsen, a member of the country music band
The Divorcees, was commissioned by NBCC to write
a promotional song, the original concept was to
highlight the College’s programs and services. But the
workforce disruption caused by COVID-19 inspired
Madsen to share his own story of upending his life
and starting anew as a mature learner.
The result is Never Too Late For a Change, available to
stream or download now. He drew on his experience
as a mature learner at NBCC to let others know they
can also pivot to something different.
“If I can do it, you can too,” he said. “It’s about
overcoming self-doubt and learning to pivot when life
throws curveballs at you. Times are tough, things are
crazy, but you can make a change. It’s never too late.”
“For me, it’s a message of hope, especially in crazy
times like these.”
The song is also a way for Madsen to say thank
you to the staff at NBCC who believed in him and
encouraged him. The line, “learning from wisdom”
in the song reflects how he feels about the instruc­
tors, who are themselves experts in their fields.
“You’re learning from real, legit, solid tradespeople
who have so much experience,” he noted. “And you’re
working towards a better future for yourself.”

Get involved with shaping the NBCC experience through
your Local Campus Union (LCU) or the NBCC Student Union

Give back through community volunteering. You’ll
complete a course and volunteer in your community
before graduation, developing the important skills

2014, students and staff have contributed over 73,000
hours to more than 1,300 community activities.

SUSTAINABILITY AT NBCC
NBCC’s Climate Action Strategy was developed in 2022
and during the initial phases, we received important
feedback from students about the importance of
environmentally focused course content and program­
ming, enhancing NBCC’s facilities to make them more
sustainable, and experiential learning opportunities that
focus on climate change. At NBCC we’re committed to
addressing these important topics. Through our Climate
Action Strategy, we’re seeing these actions come to life
as we continue to develop and offer new programs and

NBCC offers you over 90 full-time programs, several

specialized programs, and many part-time courses to meet
your personal, professional, and educational goals.

In many programs, you’ll be able to experience hands-on learning

through a related practicum or co-op placement – so you’re graduating with
on-the-ground exposure and work experience to set you apart from other graduates.

If you’re looking to become a certified skilled tradesperson, many programs lead to

apprenticeship and Red Seal certification, so you’ll be levelling up your career in short

Service Account and confirm your seat by paying
the con­firmation fee. This will secure your seat.

If you are not a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident
of Canada, you will need a valid postsecondary study
permit to attend NBCC for longer than six months.
Apply as soon as you receive your letter of acceptance.
The times needed to process your application may vary
among visa offices.

OUR CAMPUSES
All of our campuses are dynamic and welcoming places, just like the communities they are in. But they’re also each a
little different. From smaller towns to urban centres, we wanted to share a little more about each community, so that
you can get a better feel for what it might be like to call one of them home.

FREDERICTON
Fredericton is New Brunswick’s third largest city and
provincial capital. Greater Fredericton has a population of
just over 100,000 and features many of the amenities you
would expect in a major city including an international
airport and well-established public transport system.
Our campus is centrally located within walking distance
to grocery and retail outlets as well as the city’s largest
hospital. We are located on the grounds of the University
of New Brunswick (UNB) and host 400+ students.

MIRAMICHI
The NBCC Miramichi Campus is located in one
of New Brunswick’s prettiest and most walkable
communities. With a population of just over 17,000,
Miramichi is a friendly and welcoming community.
Outdoor lovers will thrive in Miramichi. Kayaking,
canoeing, swimming, hiking, and paddle boarding are
popular warm weather activities, while skiing, skating,
and snowshoeing keep residents active in the winter.
Two of New Brunswick’s larger communities, Moncton,
and Fredericton are each under two hours away.

MONCTON
Moncton is New Brunswick’s largest city, and the campus
is centrally located along the city’s busiest street. NBCC
Moncton is steps away from numerous housing options,
grocery stores, shops, restaurants, and services. A hub
for business, transportation and entertainment, Moncton
has plenty to offer single students as well as those
with families. There is a vibrant arts and culture scene,
professional and amateur sports and numerous festivals
and events. An international airport and public transit
make it easy for students to travel.

SAINT JOHN
Saint John is a vibrant and diverse community, making
it a great place for single students or those with families.
With a population of 125,000+ in Greater Saint John,
it offers plenty of services and amenities in a safe and
friendly environment. Students can easily access to
shopping, restaurants and accom­­modations, and there is
unlimited opportunity to enjoy many community offerings.
Public transit and local taxi services make the community
an accessible place for NBCC Saint John students.

ST. ANDREWS
St. Andrews offers the perfect location for both academics
and real-life experience. Known as “Canada’s first resort
town”, the seaside community welcomes more than 80
thousand tourists a year, allowing hospitality students
to easily transition into job placement opportunities.
With a population of just over 1700, St. Andrews is a
friendly community that is quick to support its visiting
students. Residents work closely with the school to ensure
students are able to find housing options and settle in
easily. Housing, groceries, banking, shopping, and medical
services are all within walking distance of the campus. The
City of Saint John is an hour away, which is also where the
nearest airport is located. St. Andrews is also a short drive
from the US border and the town of Calais, Maine.

WOODSTOCK
With just 5,000 residents, Woodstock is a close-knit
community where neighbours help one another. It has
become increasingly diverse in recent years, and new
restaurants, cafes, and specialty shops. Located in the
heart of the downtown, the NBCC Woodstock Campus
hosts 250+ students. The Town has major grocery and
department store chains, hotels, a movie theatre, and
nearby hospital. There is no public transit, but taxis can
easily be found to help you get around. Woodstock is an
hour from the provincial capital of Fredericton, where
there is an international airport.
