Module 9: PNP Ethical Doctrine
Justice is a felt need in our world today and a controversial topic. But what is justice, exactly, and
who gets to define it? In this video, we'll explore the biblical theme of Justice and discover how it's deeply
rooted in the story-line of the Bible that leads to Jesus. Biblical references to the word “justice” mean “to
make right.” Justice is, first and foremost, a relational term people living in right relationship with God, one
another, and the natural creation. As God is just and loving, so we are called to do justice and live in love.
The ethics of justice deals with moral choices through a measure of rights of the people involved
and chooses the solution that seems to damage the fewest people. Rooted in a respect for the legal
system, it applies in the Western democracy ideas like social contract theory to everyday moral decisions.
