Reporting Findings, Drawing Conclusions

and Making Recommendations

At the end of the lesson, the students shall be able to:

1. Differentiate the parts of Results and Discussion

2.Understand the importance of the chapter
3. Present and compare the data gathered by means of
writing the chapter
Results and Discussion is the chapter that presents all
the data gathered and analyzed. In this chapter,
researchers are expected to present the data per
problem to ensure organization.

This is the chapter that has the most

flexible structure since the problems
vary from paper to paper.
Without this chapter, the questions presented in
the Statement of the Problem will not be
answered.

With that, remember to present your

data the way how you presented
your research questions.
As mentioned in the previous slides, it is important for a
researcher to go back to the SOP.

It needs to be done to ensure proper

organization.
This is an
example of the
Statement of
the Problem
You may present your data in three ways:
- Textual Presentation
- Graphical Presentation
- Tabular Presentation
A researcher can use some of the ways or even combine
them all. However, there are instances where graphical
and textual presentation are used to show data
effectively.
This is an example of how a textual and graphical presentation
looks like. Moreover, pie graphs are commonly used when
presenting parts of a whole.
This is an example of how a
textual and tabular presentation
looks like. Moreover, tables are
commonly used to organize
complex data quickly.
When using tables and graphs, remember to
include textual description of them to make sure
that they are properly interpreted. Be it for
descriptive and inferential statistics, tables and
graphs are of great help in presenting complex
data.
After presenting the data, you need to compare your data from other
sources to establish the similarity or difference of them. It is
important for us to do this because:
- We need to make sure that our data can be related to another
research
- We need to form connections among the body of knowledge
available.
Let’s have this example. After
the textual and tabular
presentation, the next part shall
be the comparison.
In this example, the highlighted part
shows the comparison done to a
certain study. Remember to cite the
source properly.
