Hot
• Both CPUs Master
CPU
Standby
CPU
 run the same program I/O Bus

 have access to the same I/O

• The I/O hardware can be simplex, duplex, or
triplex Simplex
 using GAP redundancy management for I/O

►HSS Duplex
►LSS I/O

►Averaging
Triplex I/O
►Median

Industrial Turbomachinery Systems

13

MicroNet Plus Redundant CPU Transfer

• Both CPUs contain extensive and compartmentalized health monitoring
 hardware
 software
• The Master CPU continuously writes its “state” variable conditions into
the Standby CPU
• If the Master CPU’s independent health monitor detects
►an internal fault or
►there is a transfer request and
►the Standby CPU is available,
 the Master CPU transfers control of the I/O bus to the Standby CPU and
 isolates itself from the I/O bus.
• After the transfer,
 the Standby CPU becomes the Master CPU,
 without disturbance, and
 can operate that way indefinitely
• Control can be transferred back to the original Master CPU
 at any time it’s available.
