Danger
DANGER
There are several hazards associated with OD1 WEDM.
OD1-1 To understand these hazards and preventive measures, read the safety manual before
using the machine.
OD1-2 All users should know the location and function of the emergency stop switch (8).
The OD2 Control box (2) has high voltage parts. Accidental contact with these parts
can result in serious injury or death.
OD2-1 Only persons skilled in electrical work and familiar with the electrical
circuits of this machine are allowed to maintain and inspect the
electrical parts. The operator or installer is not authorized to open the
control box.
OD2-2 If an alarm condition occurs, notify the foreman immediately.
The operator or installer is not authorized to repair the machine.
OD3 When the processing power is on, high voltage is applied to the wire (12), the upper
wire guide section (13), and the lower wire guide section (14). Touching these
sections may result in serious injury or death.
OD3-1 Do not put your hands, feet or body near the wire or on the upper and lower wire guide sections
when the processing power is on.
OD3-2 When it is necessary to touch the wire or the upper and lower wire guide
sections, check that the processing power LED (9) is off.
OD3-3 When using a separate wire feeder, check that the protective cover is installed to
prevent the operator from touching the wire.
OD3-4 When no protective cover is installed, report this to the foreman. The foreman will ensure
that the protective cover is installed.

Warning
Warning
OW1-1 Do not turn on the power and do not machine work in an explosive atmosphere.
OW2: When closing the processing tank door (4), you can pinch your hand.
OW2-1: Gently close the processing tank door.
OW3-2 If an alarm condition occurs, notify the foreman immediately and follow his instruction
until the alarm is reset.
Do not put your hands, feet or body inside the machine.
OW5 Touching the rotating wire cutter (6) will result in injury.
OW5-1 Stay away from the rotary wire cutter.
OW5-2 Do not lift the wire cut device cover.

OW7 Changing the shape of the safety device may affect the function of the
device, so you may be subject to an electric shock.
OW7-1 Do not operate the machine if the safety device has been replaced or
fixed so that the device does not work.
OW7-2 Do not modify the security devices. Do not modify the
security device so that it does not work.
OW8 Rearranging the machine may affect the safety device, invalidating
any warnings issued.
OW8-1 Do not modify the machine.
OW8-2 If the machine has been modified, do not operate the machine.
Notify the foreman.
OW9 Dropping a heavy object on your foot can break your foot bones.
OW9-1 Wear safety shoes when lifting heavy objects.
OW13 If you put your hand under the leveling bolts (3), you could pinch your hand and
cause an injury.
OW13-1 Do not adjust the leveling bolt. If the machine is out of order, report the
situation to the foreman.

HS-70A
OW14 While objects are hanging on the emergency stop switch (8), the emergency
stop switch may not be pressed, thus you may get an electric shock or get
stuck in the machine.
OW14-1 Do not hang any objects on the emergency stop switch.
OW15 While opening the wire feeder cover (11), do not release your hand before
the cover is locked, or you may hit your head on the wire feeder cover or
pinch your hand.
OW15-1 Raise the wire feeder cover to the upper limit. Make sure the cover is locked and then
release your hand.
OW16 If you climb onto the machine and water supply unit (18), you may
fall and result in injury.
OW16-1 Do not climb on the machine and the water supply unit.
OW17 If the wire tip gets into your eyes, you may damage it and lose sight.
OW17-1 When assembling the wire and cleaning the used wire (18), be sure to
wear your safety glasses.
OW17-2 Do not blow used wires with air.
OW17-3 Use a brush to clean used wires.
OW18 You may get burned if you touch the reactive resistor because the reactive
resistor gets hot during operation.
OW18-1 Do not remove the reactive resistor cap (24).
OW19 If the control box (2) or the operation panel (10) is wet, you may receive
an electric shock.
OW19-1 Do not spill refrigerant on the control box and operation panel.
OW19-2 Do not touch the control box with wet hands.
2004/04/12 16 eH70AOPSA03.doc
HS-70A
OW20 Used wires (25) may be loaded so you could get an electric shock
when getting rid of them.
OW20-1 Wear leather gloves.
OW21 As you get rid of the used wires (25), they may stick to your hands.
OW21-1 Wear leather gloves.
OW22 If refrigerant splashes into your eyes, your eyes may be damaged.
OW22-1 Wear safety glasses when adjusting the coolant flow rate using the upper and
lower hose end flow rate regulating valve (15) and threading jet flow rate regulating valve (16).
OW22-2 If refrigerant splashes into your eyes, rinse them with clean water and consult a doctor.
OW23 If tools are placed on the control box (2) or the machine, they
may fall when the machine is started.
OW23-1 Do not place any objects on the control box and machine.
OW23-2 Wear safety shoes and a helmet.
OW24 If the contents of the refrigerant or ion exchanger (22) spill, you may slip, fall, or
cause an impact, resulting in injury.
OW24-1 Turn off the main power breaker (1) of the machine. Clean around the machine
and start the process.
OW24-2 Socks etc. do not press.
OW25 If you lean against the machine, you could be pinched or injured when the
machine moves.

HS-70A
OW26 Touching the machined workpiece with bare hands can cut your hand because
the edge of the machined workpiece is sharp.
OW26-1 Wear leather gloves.
OW27 If the machine is operated without the filter cover (19), the coolant may get
into your eyes.
OW27-1 When the filter change is complete, be sure to lock the filter cover.
OW27-2 Check that the filter pressure is less than 0.2 MPa (2kgf/cm2) or the pressure
gauge (20).
OW27-3 If the filter pressure exceeds 0.2 Mpa (2kgf/cm2), turn off the mains
breaker (1) and replace with a new filter.
OW28 If you touch the parts inside the automatic wire threader (17), you could get
your hand caught or get an electric shock.
OW28-1 Do not remove the automatic wire threader cover.
OW29 If the wire (12) is melted with the burner and the combustible material is
nearby, a fire may occur.
OW29-1 Before melting the wire electrode with the burner, check that there are no
combustible materials nearby.
OW30 The upper wire guide (13) section may fall on the operator's hand due to
machine failure.
OW30-1 Perform maintenance and operation with fully raised upper wire guide section.

OW31 The battery (27) is installed in the lower power box. Placing the lower
power box near any heating element may result in fire or explosion.
OW31-1 Do not place the lower power box near any heating element.
OW32 The battery (27) is installed in the lower power box. Installing the lower power box
in an unventilated room may result in an explosion.
OW32-1 Do not install the lower power box in any room without ventilation.
OW33 The battery (27) is installed in the lower power box. Touching the terminals
inside the box may result in electric shock.
