At an agency in Manila worked an American named Sam Christie and his assistant Philip Latak who is a

Pilipino, and they became good friends. On one fine day, Philip received a message saying that his
grandfather had fallen sick and that he wanted to see him, so he needed to hurry back home. Luckily it is
also Sam's last month in the Philippines because he also needs to go back to his country home, so they
decided to take a trip to Ifugao as Sam also plans on buying an Ifugao God as a souvenir. After their long
travel, they arrived at the destination in Ifugao Philip's village, so after looking around they headed to
the house of Philip's grandfather to visit and ask where he could get an Ifugao God for Sam, but as soon
as his grandfather heard this, he became mad that is why they just left. On their second day in Ifugao, a
huge feast in the village was held for Philip, and a ritual that was being held at his grandfather's house
was a way of thanking the god for letting his grandson come home as the old man pours fresh animal
blood at the Ifugao God. The party goes on and Sam eventually gets tired, and heads home but as Philip
promised that he would help Sam get his god, because of the greediness in wanting something while
everyone is enjoying Philip gets the god of his grandfather to give to his friend Sam, and at the morning
both were arguing whether to take back the god or just keep it since it has already been done, and once
someone would know it can be a much bigger problem, but as that was going on Philip heard that his
grandfather has collapsed due to heart attack and is already dying, that is why Philip hurried back to his
grandfather's house, but only a little time was left with them, and his grandfather passed away.. After
that Philip decided that he would not go back to Manila and as Sam received this message, he visited the
place where Philip was and questioned him about his decisions, but he was just met with anger and
loathing that led to an argument. As the story ends with Sam leaving the old house and Philip staying
making another god to replace what he has stolen.
