Design
Opportunity:
Great opportunity for Fresh Hope and Nightingale to use this development as a model for integrating new
residentials into established metropolitan zones by engaging homegrown creatives and designers.

Potential outcome:
Hybrid collaboration with Dave - and existing interior designers (?) - to integrate artists and designers from the
local into the common areas. Beyond a gesture > concrete outcomes: better living, increased community presence,
social circulation (not isolation) and overall comfortability.
Maximise having an artspace below - beyond it’s four walls - by utilising directors network to bring the whole
building to life.
Continue the nature of experimentation/novel interactions of the streetfront process into the overall buildings
composition > use Marrickville building as a testing ground for new social ideas.

AIM >> Create furnished environments that people feel in touch with.

Current issue: Some elements of the design package line with contemporary living: and does not reflect either the
buildings architectural quality, managements social and sustainability ethos, ground floor operations, nor the wider area
that it is situated.

Potential hybrid collaborations for interiors:

Use the same furniture but use different material coverings. These could be stitched on by hand or
otherwise. They could be raw material, patterned work or custom painted/printed cloth by artists.
A lot of the current covering do not look good for long - they’re new-ness/sheen deteriorates
quickly
= Mass produced furniture (inexpensive) with distinct surface (personality)
- This could be a really nice touch > and invite people to sit and congregate.

For non duplicate furniture we could create custom ‘features’ > upcycled or assembled furniture.
For the whisper wall/s we can use different patterns - In line with current designs - from our
potential mural artist > and reflect the outside also on the inside.

or the hallway artwork we could source it from graduate/post-graduate

artist - and give them the opportunity/sell work to big clients
