 Responsible for the management of medical services during Batang Pinoy –
Philippine National Games (BP-PNG). Also collaborate with designated
referral hospitals for medical-related issues.
 Provision of medical services for athletes in competition.
 Coordinate with the LGU health counterpart assigned to competition venues.
 Development of various contingency plans to respond to public health
incidents.
 Providing placement of medical professionals and medical tents to be used
during competition.

General Guidelines
 A limited quantity of essential medicines will be available for immediate and
emergency care from PSC Games Medical Center and competition venues.
 For those delegates who have written prescriptions from our Medical Doctors or
Accredited team doctors may go to PSC Games Medical Center Pharmacy for
dispensing of medications.
 Dispensing of ice tubes will be available at PSC Games Medical Center.
Delegates may bring ice coolers provided they show their IDs. (* ice cube is not
for drinking, for recovery and treating injuries only)
 Triaging and first aid will be on “first come, first serve” basis unless the case is
urgent enough to be prioritized according to the assessment of the medical
committee.
 Accredited team doctors may be able to accompany athletes and members of their
delegation to referral hospital, with the consent of the patient or guardian, discuss
the examination and treatment with the admitting physician. Final diagnosis and
responsibility will rest to the admitting physician.
 PSC Medical Committee is available to advise on athlete’s fitness to return to
play as they are assigned to every competition venue. However, the final decision
with will rest on the PSC medical consultant. If there is difference in clinical
opinion between the team doctor and the PSC medical consultant. The final
decision rests with the PSC medical committee head.
 During the Games, all medical data and situational information from medical tents
and competition venues will be collected as medical records for submission to the
PSC Games Medical Center. By receiving medical services during the Games,
patients agree to allow the Medical Committee access to records related to any
medical treatment provided for injury or illness.
 Medical committee and coverage members will be designated at competition
venues, focusing primarily on elite programs and contact sports. For other
competition venues will have medical professionals assigned from the LGU’s
medical team.
 Should any medical issues or concerns arise during the competition regarding to
medical concerns they may contact individuals, who are listed in the index page
of this manual.
 Check Index page for patient flow in the PSC Games Medical Center and
competition venues.

Medical Transport
 Delegates requiring additional treatment will initially be taken to the PSC Games Medical
Center for evaluation.
 The decision to refer any affected delegates to another hospital for specialized care will
be determined by the Medical Consultant overseeing the patient’s care at the PSC Games
Medical Center.
 If the competition venue is significantly distant from the PSC Medical Center and
immediate further treatment is necessary, medical professionals stationed at the venue are
authorized to transport the patient to the closest accredited hospital.
 Ambulance Drivers in the GMC will be accessible between 6am to 10pm. Outside of
these hours’ ambulance services will be available on-call for emergency situations.
3. PSC Games Medical Center
- The main headquarters of the PSC Games Medical Center will be situated at Medical
Scientific and Athlete Services (MSAS) within the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex,
Ocampo Street, Malate, Manila City. Additionally, another center will operate at the
MSAS building of Philsports Complex in Meralco Avenue, Pasig City, Metro Manila.
- Operating hours for the services will be from 6am to 10pm.
- Services including:
o Medical Consultation and Services (Triaging and First Aid)
o Center of Operations (RMSC H Q Only)
o Ice Station
o Pharmacy
o Dental Services

- Medical Consultation and Services


 PSC Games Medical Center in RMSC and Philsports will have Nurses, Physical
Therapist, Dentists and Medical Consultants, on duty.

Medical Consultant Services


- Takes patient’s medical history
- Requests diagnostic tests
- Diagnose and assess patient’s injuries or diseases through diagnostic testing, such as
X-rays to look for broken bones or blood tests; may also recommend and implement
non-invasive treatment.
- Recommend rehabilitative exercise, or prescribe supplements and medications to
strengthen joints or minimize pain
- Order, perform, and interpret tests and analyze records, reports, and examination
information to diagnose patient’s condition.
- Monitor patient’s conditions and progress and re-evaluate treatments as necessary
- Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
- Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary.
- Coordinate work with nurses, rehabilitation therapists and other health care providers.

Nursing Services
- Assesses health status of athletes, coaches, and officials.
- Assists medical consultants in treating patients.
- Maintains medical equipment in good working conditions.
- Helps in the promotion of preventive medicine.
- Ensures health counseling and health teaching.
- Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports,
and examination results.
- Coordinate work with physicians and other allied health workers.
- Dispensing of medication with prescription from medical consultants or accredited
health care providers.

Physical Therapist Services


- Does initial assessment and evaluation of athletes, coaches, and officials.
- Engage in an examination process that includes taking patient’s history and measures
to identify potential and existing problems.
- Gives interventions and health teaching to help prevent progression of injury.
- Does supportive taping techniques and Pre- and Post- competition care at their
discretion.
Dental Services
- Does initial assessment, diagnostic and treatment for dental concerns especially those
delegates participating in contact sports.

Other Allied Sports Health Professionals


- Will support the medical committee in various tasks and responsibilities.
- Some would be assigned as venue managers in various competition areas.
- Coordinate with different health professionals during competition.
- The massage unit will be assigned as a liaison for ice dispensing.
Setup and Supplies

- The exam room will have a consultation table, an examination/treatment bed, and
massage tables proportional to the number of medical proportional to the number of
medical personnel assigned to the venue. The exam room will also have chairs for
patients consulting and waiting.
- A supplies area and pharmacy area will be assigned to PSC Games Medical Center
and should be kept clean and items should be organized and easily accessible. Only
the medical committee will have access to the medical supplies.

4. Formulary Drug List


- ONLY BP-PNG Athletes, Coaches and Officials can avail the medicines from the
Medical Kits.
- ONLY initial dose of medicine or in case of antibiotics shall be dispensed for
delegates of BP-PNG.
- All medicines will only be dispensed by prescription by the doctor-on-duty at the
PSC Games Medical Center (RMSC, Ultra) or by an accredited team doctor.
- Medicines will be available at PSC Games Medical Center and Medical Kits carried
by Medical Committee stationed on competition venues.

5. Competition and Billeting Venue Medical Services
- There will be assigned medical committee members on competition venues
prioritizing elite programs and contact sports.
- Stationed medical professionals together with the local Health Unit on competition
venues will be providing on-site first aid treatment and ambulance transport for
athletes, coaches, staff, delegation members, and guests. Patients with acute
conditions for whom an on-site physician deems further diagnosis and treatment
necessary after on-site treatment will be transferred by ambulance to PSC Games
Medical Center or to the nearest referral hospital.
- A local health unit will be assigned to provide on-site medical services to spectators,
media, and staff. Medical Tents will also be provided.

Billeting Medical Services


- Medical Services will be assigned to the Department of Health Medical Team with
the supervision of the PSC Medical Committee.
