CASE STUDY IV CODIFICATION - EXERCISE Design a codification system for identification of items in stores for a Biscuit Factory producing

g Biscuits, Breads and Toffees. The basic data is as given below : The company maintains 3 main stores viz. Raw Material Godown, Packing Material godown and General Stores. Raw material is the basic ingredient used in products e.g. Maida, Ghee Milk, Essences, Chemicals etc. Packing material is used for packing the companys products e.g. plain and printed paper, polythene bags, cellophane wax wrappers tins, cartons, wooden cases etc. General stores cater to the needs of plant maintenance and repairs and include all items other than those of Raw Materials and Packing Materials. Each stores keeps three types of items viz. regular, as and when required and Dead Items. The data regarding numbers of items in each store has been collected from the lists available with the management. The details are given below : Sl. The company proposed to dispose off and all its dead items. As and hen items ill be purchased as per requirements from the user departments and issued to the concerned department on receipt from the supplier. Stocks will be kept for regular items as per Inventory Control System.
