Facts:

A-1 Financial Services, Inc., a financial corporation, approved Atty. Laarni

Valerio's loan request for the sum of P50,000.00. To ensure repayment of

the loan, the respondent issued a postdated check dated April 1, 2002, with

a value of P50,000.00. Nevertheless, when presented to the bank for

payment on the specified date, the check was rejected due to insufficient

funds. Up to the time this case was filed, despite multiple requests for the

settlement of her debt, the respondent has not fulfilled the entire sum of her

obligation.

Issue: Whether or not a disciplinary action must be taken upon.

Held:

Indeed, Attorney Valerio, the respondent, is culpable of severe misconduct

and is in contravention of the Code of Professional Responsibility. This is

not only due to her issuance of non-payment checks and her failure to

settle her financial obligations but also because she has demonstrated

reckless disregard for both the IBP's and Court Orders throughout the legal

proceedings
