    This study examined the effect of medical cannabis laws on juvenile cannabis use. The authors analyzed data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health from 1993 to 2013. They found that states with medical cannabis laws reported higher rates of past-month cannabis use among adolescents aged 12–17 compared to states without such laws. However, they did not find higher rates of frequent or heavy use. The results suggest medical cannabis laws may increase experimentation but not problematic use among juveniles.
