Second-class technician Selma Ünsal stumbled down
the corridors of the Nawrah BioIndustries laboratory
facility. Two weeks working at the Alhena-2 orbital,
and she still had not acclimatized to the lowered
gravity. The lab area required a gravity of 0.8 g to be
maintained at all times for experimental purposes,
which wasn’t too far from planetary ranges of gravity,
but it was enough to make Selma’s strides a bit too
long and send her into doorjambs and passers-by
all throughout the narrow corridors.
Whenever this happened, Selma apologized under
her breath and went on her way. Anyone who had
activated their comlog’s augmented reality feature
could see her open halo projected into their retinas.
It flagged her as being nearly late to her shift,
which was enough to obviate the need for a more
ceremonious apology.
According to her open halo, she was a fan of the
latest VaudeVille musical sensation, a band called ‘My
Beautiful Mistake’, and the Maya shows Myrmidon
Wars and Insidious Suspicion. In the eyes of the
world she was a romantic gal with a penchant for
adventure and intrigue, but sadly that hadn’t earned
her so much as a private halo request, much less
any after-work drinking invitations. Selma blamed
the lab’s unappealing work uniforms, particularly
the ridiculous little hats that concealed what was
her main advantage: a luxuriant jet-black mane of
hair. She might have to change her halo settings to
showcase her singleness, but then again, that might
attract too many creeps.

shift would start losing their patience and send her
exasperated messages via internal comm. But she
had finally found it, the warehouse where external
deliveries of material were stored and its manager,
Kıvanç Sezer, possibly the most eligible single man
in the station.
“Hi, Kıvanç! You got something for me?” She tried
to keep a casual tone and leave the innuendo open
to the interpretation of the handsome logistics
manager.
“Hey there, Selma!” Kıvanç said, startled. “As a matter
of fact, I do. Just this morning we got a shipment
of nine sealed containers that your lab apparently
requested. It’s not every day Analysis 04 orders this
kind of volume…”
“They bumped up our budget and someone decided
to spend it all before they realized their mistake and
asked for a refund,” she giggled.
“That’s a good one.” There was the smile, the reason
why he was the most coveted man in the orbital.
“But you know I still have to check with your lab
manager,” he added apologetically.
“You are going to speak to that old hag Dr Çandarli?
On your own volition? Now that’s what I call
professional.” Eyes shining with admiration, Selma
stepped closer to Kıvanç and laid her hand on his
shoulder. “So it’s true, what they say about you…”
“What do they say about me? I hope it’s just nice
things…” His smile broadened as he leaned closer.
“They say you’re just a half-witted pretty face.” The
manager’s neck snapped like a branch.
Selma gently laid the body of Kıvanç on the ground.
She approached the sealed containers and quickly
transmitted an opening sequence. As the security
clasps snapped open, her comlog inbox chirped to
life with the irritated messages of her colleagues
from the previous shift. She sighed resignedly and
watched the crates pop open.
Inhuman figures rose from inside the containers and
scoured the warehouse with their weapons’ target
lock systems. When they saw Selma, she hurriedly
uttered a few words in a Shasvastii language. No
human larynx could have articulated those sounds
with such propriety.
HATCHING
The SeedEmbryos kept the Corash Hasht and the
rest of his assault team in a constantly induced
REM state. Using hypnotic suggestion techniques,
Hasht and his group were being reminded of the
HAZMAT A1 SPECIALIST
mission briefing and the three-dimensional layout
of the target orbital. The umbilical that joined them
to their SeedEmbryos was used to stimulate their
reflexes by simulating a virtual tour through the
facility in which they were forced to flag all security
measures in each area, creating muscle memory to
minimize response times. This method made troop
relocation and insertion into operational areas part
of the training process. When the containers were
opened, the Shasvastii inside would be as prepared as
anyone could be with the available intelligence, and
indeed, would be able to move around the facility
with their eyes closed. Being isolated for so long
in an enclosed, sealed space would have physically
and psychologically debilitated any other soldier, but
these aliens had turned it into a tactical advantage
that allowed for optimal operational preparedness
anywhere.
The briefing itself was unusually succinct. An
infiltrated Shasvastii agent had gathered intel that
suggested humans had made a breakthrough in their
analysis of the Paradiso T’zechi. Reports spoke of
a piece of exotic technology that could open new
grounds for investigation. A biotech corporation
from Haqqislam named Nawrah BioIndustries had
been carrying out research on this new technology.
Obtaining a copy of the research data was critical
in determining the potential of this technology for
human military development. Any operation to do
with the T’zechi had been designated by the EI as
priority level 1, so Shasvastii Command promptly
summoned an Urgency Team to be sent into the area
as recommended by the infiltrated agent.

Due to time constraints, the insertion had to be done
blindly, in sealed containers from which they could
not emerge until the agent gave the signal. This was
not an attractive prospect for elite operatives who
would rather be in control all the time than depend
on others. Nevertheless, the honor and privilege of
being chosen for such a critical mission made Hasht
and the rest eager to risk everything for the success
of the operation.
So when the sealed containers finally opened and
triggered the SeedEmbryos to hatch, the Shasvastii
emerged combat-ready and prepared for the worst.
But the only thing they found was the warehouse
they remembered so well and a single human with
a corpse at her feet. Before they could neutralize her,
the woman said the password that identified her as
the agent behind the operation.
HATAIL AELIS
KEESAN
“Is the perimeter secured?” a bulky soldier who
seemed to be in charge asked tersely. “I find it odd
to see only one body. Usually your kind is surrounded
by more corpses.”
“Give me time, Corash Hasht. The mission has only
just begun,” said the Speculo Killer with a smile.
“Fair enough. Take my operatives and go snatch the
data. I will take care of the security apparatus.”
“Alone? This shift there is a four-man security squad.”
“These are lightly armed human guards, I am a
Corash. They will not present an obstacle, I will not
present a fair fight.” He didn’t wait for an answer, and
the door softly buzzed shut behind him.

“That will have to do. What is your counsel,
Ambassador?”
“My military advisers tell me we can infiltrate a
team into the Haqqislamite facility where they
work with the data obtained from the Penny Arcade.
However, there is a non-trivial chance that they will
be identified as Trident operatives, jeopardizing our
alliance with the humans. My recommendation is to
wait until we have confirmation that their research
has produced viable technology of their own, at
which point the risk will be justified.”
“A sensible position, Ambassador. Nevertheless,
we must disagree. Any information they might
have decoded from a T’zechi to which we
have had no access is much too valuable

everything you can.

“It will be stored until a more up-to-date copy of your
Cube arrives, and then it will be eliminated. Fret not,
Ambassador. You know your real you will continue
to live life fully on planet Paradiso.”
[Quiet breathing and rustling of clothes.]
“And for that I am forever grateful to the High
Council.”
“Go in peace, Ambassador.”

regarding operations on the Alhena-2 orbital.
UNEXPECTED
Aelis Keesan was running out of patience. She had
scoured the laboratory database and all its schedules,
invoices and communications archives, looking for
any reference that might point to the location of the
Penny Arcade. She had come out empty-handed.
Nawrah BioIndustries had confidential R&D contracts
with O-12, but none of them seemed at all related
to the Penny Arcade or the T’zechi. Maybe they
were just that good at concealing information,
but that was unlikely. As the Hatail Unit had often
proved, outsource contracts were the great leakers
of information of the Human Sphere. Her intuition
would probably be confirmed once they could
analyze her quick memory dump back at the base.
Aelis sighed. Objective-wise, this mission was clearly
going to be a fiasco. At least the masking program
she had inserted into the system was working
beautifully, and they could get out of there without
being detected at all. She checked her augmented
UI for the progress of the dump: two more minutes
and they could get going.
That’s when she saw it.
In a corner of her interface she had opened a feed to
the security cameras in the lab. Floating before her
eyes, a holographic screen showed her a corridor in
which a Shasvastii Corax silently took out two human
guards. But the face was unmistakable, a face she
could never forget: Hasht, the Shasvastii who tortured
her and ruined her life.
Instantly, the rest of her Tactical Triad, who were
crouching around her, stood up and readied their
weapons. Her surprise and hatred made for a
pheromonal cocktail that set her Triad colleagues
on edge through the link they shared.
This was a whole new scenario. Her feelings aside,
the presence of a Shasvastii team on the station
changed everything. There was no leaving quietly
now. It was time to improvise, and Aelis quickly made
her decision.
Without so much as a moment’s hesitation, she
hacked into the controls for the containment
chambers and released the bacteriological agent with
the most dramatic biohazard signs. The emergency
evacuation alarms were immediately triggered. It
was a considerable but calculated risk that would
put some distance between the laboratory staff and
the Shasvastii.
As far as she was concerned, the safety of the human
bystanders was entirely immaterial, but the turmoil
would buy her time to evacuate… And it might
improve the odds of bumping into Hasht and his
team as they tried to reach the only exit.
SURPRISING

As he pressed on the wound with his left hand, Hasht
had to admit he had never been so surprised in his
life. Nor so badly injured.
The first thing was the viral outbreak alarm
that started blaring when the mission was well
underway. He checked on his team to see if they
were responsible. Their negative response made
him think it must have been part of an automated
protocol to ensure humans evacuated the facility
and to deter attackers from pursuing them.
The automatic shutdown program forced them
to take a new route through the control room to
authorize their exit. This was a drawback, but nothing
too taxing. His team had already acquired the
necessary data, and he had neutralized all security
personnel. They were minutes ahead of preliminary
mission estimations, so he was still confident when
he gave the order to change plans.
The second surprise came in the Process Control
Room. Hasht had subdued a human specialist who
had stayed behind wearing some kind of protective
suit. He was pondering how to kill her when a Tohaa
assault team came out of nowhere.
The shootout was brief, but he was able to recognize
the face of that Hatail operative that seemed hell-
bent on killing him. This was the third surprise of the
operation: he didn’t expect to see her in the Human
Sphere, so far from her beloved Tohaa homeland.
But it was also the most momentary of that day’s
distractions, because his training immediately kicked
in and, overcoming his astonishment, he shot her
down with his Spitfire.
When he was surprised again, it was not by the burst
of fire that came from a secured corner of the room
and knocked him down. Dealing with professionals
in the business of war, you know there is always
someone sneakier than you, or just plain invisible.
What struck him as surprising was that the shooter
was none other than that damned Tohaa girl again.
Not only was she not dead, she was on her feet and
shooting at him in a frenzy, apparently as healthy as
ever. Just how many times would he have to kill her?
Hasht opened fire on his nemesis again, covering his
retreat through the hatchway, where he ordered his
troops to withdraw. They had the data they needed,
and it would be a mistake to let a personal obsession
get in the way of the operation. He was also certain
that loathsome female wouldn’t rest until their paths
crossed again. Paradiso is not that big a place, and
next time would be the charm. Against a Corash you
don’t get third chances…
POWERLESSNESS
Grimacing the pain away, Aelis had to admit she
had not been very professional about it. Direct
confrontation with a beast like Hasht was not a smart
move. And now she was paying for her carelessness.
Stupid! So stupid! She had been completely and
utterly stupid. She had had her revenge within arm’s
reach and she let it slip away again.
Initially, the plan was to take the Shasvastii team
by surprise in the Control Room, where they would
be trapped. But when Aelis saw Hasht manhandle
the human specialist, all the pain and suffering the
Corax had inflicted upon her came back in a flash
of blind fury. Before she knew it, she had jumped
into the room, rounds bursting out of her weapon.

of her bullets rap harmlessly against her archrival’s
Nanoscreen. Hasht reacted immediately by returning
fire from behind his nanobot cloud. One of his shots
hit Aelis in the side, and she fell to the ground,
apparently dead. Overwhelmed by the fire coming
from the Tohaa, Hasht ordered his team to withdraw.
The Shasvastii had the exit authorization and really
thought they could escape, but Hasht had failed to
take into account Aelis’ regenerative symbiont, the
Maaol. Fueled by Maaol-generated adrenaline, the
Hatail jumped back on her feet and shot him in the
back before the Nanoscreen could protect him. Hasht
rolled away, but his injuries didn’t prevent him from
returning fire, with a precision that would test the
Maaol’s regenerative capabilities yet again.
Now, as the other survivor of her Triad dragged her
into cover, she caught a glimpse of Hasht exiting
through the hatchway, out of her reach. Her Maaol
symbiont had saved her life once and could not
repeat such a feat so soon. She had to just sit there
and let her foe escape yet again. A creeping feeling
of powerlessness washed over her.
Hidden behind a console, Aelis rested on the
unconscious body of the HAZMAT specialist.
Although the life of that human was of no concern
to her, she had at least deprived the Corax of a victim.
It was a small consolation, but not the only one. She
now knew where Hasht was: trapped in the same
star system as her. A new encounter was inevitable,
and next time she wouldn’t be thrown off-balance
by the shock. Next time she would keep a cool head
and that would be the end of the ordeal.
OASIS
Outside the opulent tent even the shade of the palm
trees did little to protect from the sweltering 113
degrees. The water that flowed from the ground
created a gentle breeze and nourished the lush
flora around the spring, but it was powerless against
the scorching desert heat. The foreigner wore thick
Warring States-style silk clothing, but he let on
no sign of being fazed by the temperature as he
proceeded through the curtains into the tent. He
was offered a silver basin full of chilled water, but
he waved the servant away.
The crouched figure raised his eyes from the map-
coated table and approached the foreigner with
a smile. His attire, 12th-century Ayyubid, was as
opulent as his abode.
“My dear friend! I’m so glad you could make it.”
Saladin bowed respectfully.
“How could I decline your generous hospitality? It
is, as always, a great pleasure.” Sun Tze bowed back.
“The other guest, is he not here yet?”
“High Functionary Hansel likes to keep people
waiting. A not so subtle way to assert his position,”
apologized Saladin.
In that moment, the ALEPH functionary materialized
by their side. His modern-day attire seemed
anachronical and out of place in the medieval tent.
“What manner of place is this?” His face betrayed a
tinge of disdainful surprise.
“Welcome, High Functionary Hansel.” Saladin was
courteous and did not react in any way to the
rudeness of his guest. “This is an autonomous
memory space, a virtual environment where privacy
is absolute, as it is completely disconnected from
the data sphere. It is my little getaway, for those
times when I have too much in my mind. It seemed
appropriate to use it to debate these grand issues,
particularly given our newfound concerns that the
data sphere, and even the physical space of the cruise
ship where our bodies are, might be compromised.”
“What is there to debate? The operation was
a success,” said Hansel sternly as he eyed his
surroundings disapprovingly.
“I have received a series of rather irate messages
from the CEO of Nawrah BioIndustries that seem
to disagree with your assessment… But beyond
regrettable collateral damages, it certainly would
appear that the operation has met its goals. In fact,
it has unexpectedly been doubly successful, which
is what I propose we discuss now.”
“That indeed,” said Sun Tze. “When we planted those
memos about the breakthrough in the study of the
Penny Arcade artifact, we expected to catch but one
traitor. We designed a scenario to make the Shasvastii

infiltrators reveal themselves, which is why we did
not foresee the possibility of uncovering a human
informant working for the Tohaa as well. The reaction
of the Trinomial was also unexpectedly hasty and

the aliens in a whole new perspective.”
“It has become clear that the Tohaa are not as high-
minded in their intentions towards Humanity as
the congenial words of ambassador Maara Seegur
would have us believe.” Saladin could not hide his
disappointment. “Prudence counsels caution in
dealing with them in the future, particularly with
regards to joint operations and information sharing.”
“In the face of the boundless interest in the alien
artifact shown by our allies, and while we await
further information, I suggest we continue to block
Tohaa access to any information related to the Penny
Arcade.”
“Certainly,” agreed Hansel. “As a matter of fact, ALEPH
has information obtained during the acquisition of
the artifact in the Sisargas Islands that hints to a very
specific but concealed Tohaa interest in the device.”
“I don’t believe ALEPH made these concerns known
to the Paradiso Joint Command or the Bureau Aegis,”
said Sun Tze.
“This information has not been verified, and ALEPH
judged it could hurt the incipient Tohaa-human
diplomatic relations, a risk not worth taking if the
information proved to be misleading. I apologize for
it.” Hansel said without an iota of apology in his voice.
“We can hardly be expected to do our job as long as
ALEPH hides information from us,” replied Sun Tze
indignantly. “It is we along with the Paradiso Joint
Command who must judge the relevancy of the data
and its possible applications.”
“I assure you ALEPH is not withholding any
information. All it does is evaluate the best time for
that information to be disclosed for optimal results.
Which is what Humanity built ALEPH to do, and has
been doing so far with unquestionable effectiveness,”
said Hansel brusquely. “I find it ironic that you are
haphazardly accusing ALEPH of secrecy, given that
scans of this ‘getaway’ have revealed concealed
memory modules that violate ALEPH’s independent
operation clauses subscribed by your Aspects.
This is a grave violation of the Treaty on the Non-
Proliferation of Artificial Intelligences. I will have you

know that both ALEPH and the Bureau Toth will be
informed of this transgression of international law.”
“I am afraid you are completely in the right, High
Functionary Hansel. My oasis includes memory vaults
protected by max-sec seals that I use to store those
plans and memories I would rather ALEPH not know
about. My dear friend makes use of similar provisions
in his Golden Pavilion. I admit I am impressed by
your abilities, as I did not expect you to notice them.
Nevertheless, given your attitude, I am forced to
break my code of hospitality. I trust you will find it
in you to forgive me.” Saladin was genuinely contrite
as he gave a sign and four Ayyubid guards dragged
a vociferous Hansel out of the tent.
“What will happen to him?” Sun Tze inquired as he
poured his own tea.
“My daemons will use an array of programs—
procured from very discreet Nomad gentlemen—to
edit his memories and delete the last part of our
conversation and any reference to the secret back-
ups I have stored in the oasis.”
“My friend, only one of your legendary graciousness
would use the term ‘gentlemen’ to refer to
Nomad software pushers,” said Sun Tze, amused.
“Nevertheless, for all our precautions I simply cannot
shake the feeling that our efforts are futile, that deep
down we are still nothing but puppets in the hands
of ALEPH.”
“You have always been the wisest of us, I admit.
But I am a Haqqislamite, and I refuse to lose faith in
Humanity. I hold on to my hope that we can avert
any secret plans ALEPH might be harboring, or that
such plans, if they do exist, are innocuous to the
Human Sphere.”
“For all our sakes, my friend, I really hope you are
right…”
MYSTERIOUS DEATH IN MEDINA
Yesterday, emergency responders found the lifeless
body of Selma Ünsal, a technician employed by
Nawrah BioIndustries, in her residence in the city
of Medina. Although the death has been declared
to be the result of an accident, police have opened
a line of inquiry to clarify some unexplained aspects
of the matter. For instance, the late technician was
supposed to be working in a research facility owned
by Nawrah in the Alhena-2 orbital, in the outer
Paradiso system, and the authorities have thus far
been unable to explain her presence in the domicile.
It was concerned neighbors who called the
emergency line when they noticed a foul odor
originating in the apartment. The apparent cause
of death was a domestic accident when the deceased
incorrectly manipulated an electric appliance. The
shock seems to have rendered the technician’s Cube
inoperative, eliminating the possibility of either a
partial memory readout or a full Resurrection.

Aelis Keesan was a young archeologist with a
fascination for the past, whose life was leveled by
the shockwave of the brutal realities of her present.
As an assistant professor in the Xenoarchaeology
department of the University of Opbaaen, she was
studying the burial mounds of the extinct Doylya race
when the planet Doymas came under attack from
Combined Army forces. While the other personnel
were being evacuated, Aelis volunteered to finish
cataloguing the remains so that the memory of the
Doylya could be preserved. But Shasvastii troops care
little about the past, and concern themselves only
with the future of their species: despite being clearly
marked as a civilian settlement, the encampment
was razed. Aelis managed to survive the destruction,
only to fall into the hands of a notoriously vicious
Shasvastii Intelligence officer named Hasht. By the

Shasvastii away, Aelis Keesan was on the verge of
death from hours of torture at the hands of the Corax.
It took weeks of surgery, reconstructive treatments
and military-grade regeneration technology to bring
her back to health.
Under Tohaa law, the use of military resources for
direct benefit of a civilian automatically entails the
affiliation of said civilian to the military establishment.
This is explained by the need of Tohaa society,
involved in a perpetual conflict, to funnel talent
into the war effort. Aelis was offered a position as
an Intelligence analyst, but she declined it. Only one
thing had kept her alive throughout endless torture
and painful regeneration treatment: the thirst for
vengeance. She despised the Shasvastii for being
capable of destroying the knowledge and memory
of a bygone race, and thinking of the Corax who
had tortured her filled her with icy rage. Aelis knew
she would never find peace until she had exacted
her vengeance, so she took the advanced tactical
training programs and joined the Hatail unit, where
she excelled as an infotracker and in-the-field system
breacher. However, she kept her goal in sight at every
moment, and continued to peruse each intel report
for a clue that would lead to her detested enemy. She
located him once, and had a chance to end him, but
she chose to let him see her face and know her name.
The Corax Hasht will be even more cautious, more
slippery now, but that will only make her revenge all
the sweeter. Next time, it will not be an honorable
death in combat he will find, but an act of justice, a
well-deserved summary execution.
SHASVASTII CORAX HASHT
“Vengeance is an acceptable cause, provided it acts as a
driving force for survival.”

My subject-identifier is Hasht. I belong to the
sequential brood 6/529. Along with my siblings, I
was bred as a soldier and protector of my race. I
was conditioned to be the perfect guardian of the
Shaviish—the SpawnEmbryo reserve-hatchery—for
the Aerota star cluster. When the vicious Tohaa attack
upon our Shaviish took place, I was undertaking
an induced learning shift inside my SeedEmbryo.
The emergency hatching protocols allowed me to
dispatch a number of aggressors and to collaborate
in the evacuation of the SpawnEmbryos, averting an
even greater disaster. When the assault concluded
with the destruction of the Shaviish, I was left with
no other motivation but vengeance. I requested a
transfer to the Corash unit, so I could choose to be
posted where I would hurt the Tohaa the most. My
goal was to fulfill the duty for which I had been bred.
I was still a soldier protecting my race, only in a more
proactive, hostile way.
I specialized in assault and punishment actions on
the Tohaa fronts. I maimed and then killed any Tohaa
I could get my hands on, and made sure to destroy
anything that was of any importance to them. I took
part in the capture of the Teramaasu stronghold,
in the incursion into the Trojans of the Breo-Kasi
gas giant, and in the destruction of the scientific
colonies of planet Doymas. I took no prisoners and
left no loose ends. Except for that one time. A Tohaa
rescue team managed to seize the prisoner I was
interrogating. Years later, a galaxy away, my aeropter
was ambushed and, as I crawled from under the
burning wreck, I faced her again one-on-one. But
even her master plan was not enough to kill me and,
once again, I escaped the inescapable. Now here I
stand, alive and doing what I do best: killing. Next
time I encounter her, it will be the last. I refuse to leave
a job half-done again. I am a Corash. I am inevitable.

HAZMAT A1 SPECIALIST

HAZMAT A1 Specialists are technicians qualified to
operate in environments of maximum toxicity. They are
protected against radiation spikes, viral infections, non-
breathable atmospheres and extreme temperatures.

These Specialists are easily recognizable thanks to
their sealed protective suits, which come fitted with an
autonomous breathing unit, high-resistance boots and
gloves, and redundant communications and distress
beacon systems to comply with the highest safety
standards. HAZMAT A1 Specialists can be found the
Sphere over, in research laboratories, in the impulsion
engine areas of high-tonnage spaceships, in special
firefighter units, in biohazard response teams, in
contamination cleanup groups… The way they are
forced to move and their places of work have earned
them the title of “ghosts of the dead zones”.
 VIRAL OUTBREAK
It was a mistake. At first it seemed like a good idea, but it definitely
wasn’t. It’s OK to improvise and think outside the box if things don’t
go according to plan, but this was a full-blown fuck-up.
Releasing the virus when you noticed a rival team in the facilities
looked like the perfect diversion tactic to get the hell out of there in
the confusion. Well, turns out your opponents are just as tough as
you, and a viral outbreak isn’t going to discourage them. And you
didn’t consider that these scientific facilities always have some heroic
technician or other pleb ready to risk their life to save the day. So now
you have to activate the Decontamination Chambers for the system
to let you out, and some of your men are infected with the virus you
released. You still have to take control of the main Console before
the job is done, in addition to keeping an eye on the lab’s HAZMAT
Specialist to keep her from messing with your plan. And don’t forget
about the hostiles lurking around…
This mission was not particularly hard, but your decisions took
it all the way to Shitstorm Level. Now you’ll have to play it by ear if
you want to find some sort of way out of this. Above all, stay frosty.

SOURCES OF CONTAGION
Sources of Contagion are represented by Circular
Templates and are considered to have infinite height.
At the beginning of the first game turn, before
the first player’s turn starts, make a roll to place
a single Source of Contagion on the table. New Sources
of Contagion are placed at the beginning of each
game turn: place 2 new Sources of Contagion at
the beginning of the second game turn and 3 new
Sources of Contagion at the beginning of the third
game turn.
To place a Source of Contagion, use a slightly modified
version of the Dispersion rule: place the Circular
Template on the center of the table with the arrow
pointing towards one of the Deployment Zones, then
roll a die. Move the template a number of inches
equal to the number rolled, in the direction indicated
by the last digit of that number.
For the first roll, point the template’s arrow towards
the Deployment Zone of the player who won Initiative.
For subsequent rolls, alternate between Deployment
Zones.
 Sources of Contagion remain on the table for the
whole game and cannot be removed.
When a model inside or in base contact with a Source
of Contagion declares an Order or ARO, or if during
an Order or ARO a model makes base contact with
a Source of Contagion, that model must make a PH
Roll with its PH modified by its (positive) BTS. This
roll does not force markers to reveal themselves.
Rolling a 20 always causes the PH Roll to fail,
regardless of the model’s BTS Attribute.
On a failed PH Roll, place an Infected Marker beside
the model.
Important: Those troops possessing the Structure
(STR) Attribute instead of the Wounds (W)
Attribute are not affected by the Sources of
Contagion and are not forced to make the PH
Roll.
INFECTED
Before each player’s turn begins, troops with an
Infected Marker must each make a PH Roll with their
PH modified by their (positive) BTS. Models that fail
this roll die immediately, regardless of their remaining
Wounds. Models that die this way are immediately
removed from the table as casualties and do not add
their Order to their side’s Order Reserve.

Doctors in base contact (or via a G: Servant troop in
base contact) can cure Infected troops by spending
one Short Skill of an Order and removing the Infected
Marker. No Roll is required. Infected troops can also
be cured by a Decontamination Chamber.
Infected Doctors can cure themselves by spending
one Short Skill of an Order, with no Roll required.
DECONTAMINATION CHAMBERS
Two Decontamination Chambers are placed on the
table, each on one half of the table. Both are located
8 inches from the central line of the table and 24
inches from the lateral edges of the table (see map).
To activate a Decontamination Chamber, a Specialist
Troop in base contact with it must spend one Short
Skill of an Order and succeed at a WIP-3 Roll. Troops
with the Special Skill Doctor must succeed at a WIP
Roll. Repeaters and G: Servant troops cannot be used
to activate a Decontamination Chamber.
Each player can activate both Decontamination
Chambers, even if they had been previously activated
by the opponent.
Once activated, Decontamination Chambers can be
used by troops from either side.

In order to be decontaminated, a model with an
Infected Marker must be in base contact with the
chamber and spend one Short Skill of an Order.
Decontamination Chambers can only decontaminate
one single model per Order. Once the Short Skill is
spent, remove the Infected Marker from the model.
Decontamination Chambers must be represented
by a Tech Coffin Marker or a piece of scenery of the
same diameter.
OBJECTIVE ROOM
Placed in the center of the table, it has an area of 8
by 8 inches. In game terms it is considered to have
walls of infinite height that completely block Line of
Fire. It has four Gates, one in the middle of each wall
(See map below).
To represent the Objective Room, we recommend
using the Objective Room by Micro Art Studio or
the Command Bunker by Warsenal.
The Gates of the Objective Room are closed at the
start of the game. To open them, a Specialist Troop
must be in base contact with one of them, spend
one Short Skill of an Order and succeed at a WIP Roll.
This opens all Gates to the Objective Room.
The Objective Room Gates must be represented by
a Narrow Gate Marker or a scenery piece with the
same size. Troops with a base wider than the length
of the Marker cannot cross the threshold.
ACTIVATING THE MAIN CONSOLE
There is one Main Console placed in the center
of the Objective Room. The Main Console must be
represented by a Console A Marker or by a scenery
piece of the same diameter (such as the Human
Consoles by Micro Art Studio or the Tech Consoles
and the Communications Array by Warsenal).
To Activate the Main Console, a Specialist Troop must
be in base contact with it, spend one Short Skill of an
Order or an ARO, and succeed at a Normal WIP Roll.
If the roll is failed, it can be repeated as many times
as necessary, each time spending the corresponding
Short Skill of an Order or ARO.

Both players can activate the Main Console, even if
it had been previously activated by the opponent.
CONTROLLING THE MAIN CONSOLE
The Main Console is considered to be Controlled by a
player as long as that player is the only one with at
least one non-Infected Specialist Troop (as a model,
not a Marker) in base contact with it. Non-specialist
troops cannot Control the Main Console, but can
prevent the enemy from Controlling it by being in
base contact with it. Unconscious, Dead or Sepsitorized
troops cannot do either.
HAZMAT A1 SPECIALIST
The HAZMAT A1 Specialist has the troop profile of a
Civvie, and uses the Civvie rules (See Infinity: Human
Sphere). She always acts as a Neutral Civvie towards

There is only one single HAZMAT A1 Specialist and she
is placed in one of the four corners of the Objective
Room. Before starting the game, players number
the corners from 1 to 4 and Roll on the HAZMAT A1
Specialist Chart to know where they must place the

END OF THE MISSION
