YIELD (X)

Chart: Distribution for individual observations at both the lower and upper confidence limits of both the
mean and variance.

Area Under the Curve (Region-

Left of 45% yield) 0.139586

How Could you reduce this percentage?

Answer:
Increasing the Mean and Decreasing the variance can result in less percentage of yield going below 45%. In order to
achieve this, we can increase the productivity of the overall process thus increasing the true mean yield. Statistical
inference can help us identify the current worst-case scenario, but improving the yield would require implementing
process improvements and quality control measures to reduce variability and increase the average yield.

• Process Optimization: Analyze the production process to identify factors that contribute to low yield.
Make adjustments and improvements to the process to minimize losses and increase efficiency.
• Quality Control: Implement stricter quality control measures to ensure consistency in the production
process and reduce the likelihood of batches with low yields.
• Data Analysis: Continuously monitor and analyze yield data to identify patterns and trends that may
provide insights into improving yield performance.

From the Normal Probability Plot (NPP) between the Expected Normal Value on the y-axis and the
Observed Values (xi values), we can confirm that the data follows a straight-line pattern on this plot.
The NPP tool confirms if the data sample comes from a normal distribution. Thus, we can estimate the
population characteristics of this coating thickness using a method that assumes a normal population
distribution.
