Q-3 PDCA and ISO 9001
Q-3 PDCA and ISO 9001
(Continual) improvement is one of the bedrock principles of Quality management, hence the
ISO 9001 standard for quality management was developed after the model of PDCA.
This International Standard employs the process approach, which incorporates the Plan-Do-
Check-Act (PDCA) cycle and risk-based thinking.
The PDCA cycle enables an organization to ensure that its processes are adequately
resourced and managed, and that opportunities for improvement are determined and acted
on.
