Exam- Periodic Test-2
Subject- Mathematics
Time Allowed: 1 hr. 30 min. Maximum Marks :40
General Instructions:
1. This Question Paper has 4 Sections A-D.
2. Section A has 7 MCQs carrying 1 mark each
3. Section B has 3 questions carrying 3 marks each.
4. Section C has 3 questions carrying 4 marks each.
5. Section D has 2 question carrying 6 marks each.
6. Use graph paper for question 12

SECTION A

1. If angles A, B, C and D of the quadrilateral ABCD, taken in order, are in the ratio 3:7:6:4, then ABCD is a
(A) rhombus (B) parallelogram (C) trapezium (D) kite

2. The diagonals AC and BD of a parallelogram ABCD intersect each other at the point O. If _DAC = 32º and _AOB =
70º, then _DBC is equal to
(A) 24º (B) 86º (C) 38º (D) 32º

3. AD is a diameter of a circle and AB is a chord. If AD = 34 cm, AB = 30 cm, the distance of AB from the
centre of the circle is :
(A) 17 cm (B) 15 cm (C) 4 cm (D) 8 cm

4. if ∠OAB = 40º, then ∠ACB is equal to :

(A) 50º (B) 40º (C) 60º (D) 70°

5. Let m be the mid-point and l be the upper class limit of a class in a continuous frequency distribution. The
lower class limit of the class is :
(A) 2m + l (B) 2m – l (C) m – l (D) m – 2l

6. if ∠DAB = 60º, ∠ABD = 50º, then ∠ACB is equal

to:
(A) 60º (B) 50º
(C) 70º (D) 80º
7. Which of the following is not true for a parallelogram?
(A) opposite sides are equal (B) opposite angles are equal (C) opposite angles are bisected by the diagonals
(D) diagonals bisect each other.

SECTION B

6. Diagonals AC and BD of a parallelogram ABCD intersect each other at O. If OA = 3 cm and OD = 2 cm,

determine the lengths of AC and BD.
1
7. AOC is a diameter of the circle and arc AXB = arc BYC . Find ∠BOC .
2

8. Is it correct to say that in a histogram, the area of each rectangle is proportional to the class size of the
corresponding class interval? If not, correct the statement.

SECTION C

9. ABC is an isosceles triangle in which AB = AC. AD bisects exterior angle PAC and CD || AB Show that
ABCD is a parallelogram

10. A circular park of radius 20m is situated in a colony. Three boys Ankur, Syed and David are sitting at equal
distance on its boundary each having a toy telephone in his hands to talk each other. Find the length of the
string of each phone.
11. A teacher wanted to analyse the performance of two sections of students in a mathematics test of 100 marks.
Looking at their performances, she found that a few students got under 20 marks and a few got 70 marks or
above. So she decided to group them into intervals of varying sizes as follows: 0 - 20, 20 - 30, . . ., 60 - 70,
70 - 100. Then she formed the following table, draw histogram.
Marks- 0-20 20-30 30-40 40-50 50-60 60-70 70- above
Students- 7 10 10 20 20 15 8

SECTION D

12. The following table gives the distribution of students of two sections according to the marks obtained by
them:

MARKS FREQUENCY MARKS FREQENCY

0-10 3 0-10 5
10-20 9 10-20 19
20-30 17 20-30 15
30-40 12 30-40 10
40-50 9 40-50 1

Represent the marks of the students of both the sections on the same graph by two frequency polygons.

13. Two circles intersect at two points B and

C.Through B, two line segments ABD and PBQ are
drawn to intersect the circles at A, D and P, Q
respectively . Prove that ∠ACP = ∠QCD.
